Here we go ladies, a brand new sparkly thread that should see us all into our 2nd trimester Smile

Many thanks for the warm welcomes Smile

I've felt lots of movements this evening, I was sitting in quite a twisted position which is why I think I felt it so much.

Oh MrsWajs hope you get home ok. does your work have a snow plan for those who can't get in safely?

We had a huge dump overnight, we now have our own snowman in our back garden :o (pic on profile as I've now worked out how to).

Kits would like to say I know how you feel, but a runner I am not. All I know is our bodies are pretty good at telling us whats right and whats not. It's frustrating when w can't do when pregnant what we used to do no problem before. I'm a singer and can't breathe properly when singing, or reach the high notes that were no problem before! Probably a blessing in disguise for those around me!

Bump update - I felt definate kicks today for the first time! Yay! Scan on Tuesday (snow depending). Can't wait! Whoop Whoop!

LisMcA · 28/11/2010 15:54

that should be definite kicks

frakkinup · 28/11/2010 17:43

kits I was told at my last appointment to stop running after 20 weeks and do either power walking or 'stationary' cardio like cycling or that horrible machine where it's like you're climbing steps and walking but never get anywhere.

Hope your bump feels better soon.

No snow here [shock horror!] but I'm hoping there will be some for me when I come back. Just as long as City airport is clear next Sunday then I'm fine!

Jaylar · 28/11/2010 22:45

Kits I gave up running at around 18 weeks with 1st pregnancy because it started to feel weird, like I needed a bra for my belly. If you're getting pain then maybe time to try something else. This time around I had to give up much earlier as pelvic pain was kicking in. It's frustrating having to admit that you're body behaves differently now but it's for a short time.

After dire warnings snow in the Scottish Borders isn't too bad but still planning on taking a snow day off work tomorrow. There's much worse forecast tomorrow and I really don't fancy getting stranded in Edinburgh overnight as has happened before.

Have just spent 2 hours wrapping Xmas pressies so with the snow and all v much in festive spirit. Lovely to think that next Xmas there will be a little brother or sister helping DD unwrap her pressies.

kitstwins · 28/11/2010 23:21

Thanks ladies! Had a very strange evening - felt very achy and odd and, in the end went to sleep for a few hours (which means I'll be up all night WIDE awake but never mind...). Anyway, my afternoon and evening of crapness and oddness has convinced me that this is it. I'm not going to be one of those runners out there at 34 weeks so I shall put my trainers away. Swimming and pilates I think.

bellastella · 29/11/2010 06:40

Morning all, got my scan today at 4pm. I am supposed to be 20 weeks today but last time I saw my MW she said I was measuring/feeling bigger than she'd expect so we'll see if they change my due date.

Today is also the day I've chosen to tell my 2 DS (3 and 12 on thur), they are coming to the scan although they don't know it yet. Just hope they don't find any anomolies. Tomorrow I get to tell my mum and then after that I can explode the news to everyone!

To join in with previously mentioned topics, I've just bought jeans in a 14 instead of a 12, will buy ones with stretchy side panels later I think. Not too tired, well I don't notice it seeing as we still have pants night with my LO sometimes. Lots of baby movements and I'm takin no additional exercise, but I don't drive and walk everywhere so I'm hoping that'll do :)

LisMcA · 29/11/2010 09:22

Snow Update

There is now a foot of snow outside. Looks lke we might have got your snow Jaylar

No sign of gritter or plough yet but thats no surprise. DH dug the cars out yesterday but you wouldn't think so now. We are semi rural so have called work to say I'm not going in. I might get them to email some work through as it's month end and I have to do all the reconciliations before Wednesday Biscuit

MuffinMouse · 29/11/2010 10:11

MrsWajs I think my MW comment about my body being over the hill was more about her attitude to exercise IFSWIM. If I'd trusted the the Dr enough to ask him, I'm sure he would have just told me to cut back or do it at a slower pace or something.

At my last class I had really uncomfortable, almost painful cramping around my sides towards my back as well as bump tightening. I'm guessing I'm just not able to manage the class I was doing. I'm going to swap to swimming. The skin on my legs and hips has become really itchy so I hope swimming doesn't make it worse.

Good Luck with your scan today bellastella. What a lovely surprise for your two DS. I will also being sticking to walking if swimming is too itchy.

stuffedmk · 29/11/2010 11:12

No snow here either Angry stamps feet...me want snow!!! Grin

Baby has been going nuts lately lol. I get the feeling things are going to get uncomfortable as baby gets bigger if he keeps going like this.
I know I need to start sorting the nursery but have so much else to do it just isn't happening at the moment.
Should be writing an essay instead of this post but I need to wake up, didn't sleep well and can't get my head working.

Cyclebump · 29/11/2010 13:32

Has anyone else felt a marked increase in movement at about this time? I'm 22 weeks today and in the past two weeks, baby has been moving more and more. He's even starting to kick so hard you can feel it on the outside of the bump!

Is very exciting but he kicks me a lot way down in the lady area. Is a tad distracting when mummy is trying to work!

Last night I was having trouble sleeping and just as I began to drift off he went MAD. I tried waking DP so he could feel the movements but he snored on regardless.

frakkinup · 29/11/2010 14:06

Yep! But mine I think has turned head down already and is kicking me inside so I preferred the intermittent kicks to the sides at the front.

JoEW · 29/11/2010 14:16

No snow in London - very jealous of all the snowy tales. Me want snow too, Stuffed!

Good luck with your scan Bellastella

I haven't felt much movement over the last couple of days, sure everything is ok but now I've felt something I want to feel movement regularly, so I know all is well. I am trying to be sensible and not worry about anything but it's amazing the thing you can set yourself off worrying about.

Better news from the maternity jeans search as I found a nice pair from this lot www.cravematernity.co.uk - only shop is in Richmond but they do mail order and the black straight leg ones are reduced to £40. They are a really nice cut and fit properly around your arse. The girl in the shop was wearing them and she's not even pregnant, so a decent jean. Hurrah. They still fall down a bit but that seems to be the deal with elasticated waist.

Hope you're feeling better now kitstwins, sounds horrid. I gave up running as soon as I found out I was pregant, as I'd has a miscarriage a couple of months before and was told not to risk it. Even if I hadn't I seriously doubt I would still be running now! I went for a two hour walk yesterday and had to lie down for half an hour afterwards, eating cookies. I've been sticking to swimming, yoga and walking at the weekends.

caramellokoalalover · 29/11/2010 14:36

Swimming, yoga and walking here too. Even just walking briskly though I sometimes get weird pain down the sides of the bump and have to slow down. Not to mention getting out of breath.

I hit the big 20 weeks mark yesterday. Hooray! Halfway! I celebrated by having a massive Sunday lunch and a glass of wine. Was very tasty!

Please can we have some snow in London??? Just a little to make everything pretty and make this bitter cold worthwhile.

Good luck for all those with scans this week - looking forward to reading all the updates.

JustKeepSparkling · 29/11/2010 14:37

Only a sprinkling of snow here.

Wish this baby would turn around, the kicks right into the bladder are not so pleasant!

Had PIL here for weekend, found myself v touchy and grumpy with them so was glad to get the house back this morning.

Having issues with hot water & heating atm, have one but not the other and vv. Timing when to have a shower is tricky to say the least!

Cyclebump · 29/11/2010 14:46

I second the bladder kicks comment. Is a deeply unpleasant sensation. I pull a weird face when it happens apparently...

Trucha10 · 29/11/2010 14:59

Am very jealous of seeing all the talk of feeling the baby kicking and moving. I'm 19 weeks and SO looking forward to feeling something wiggle inside. It's my first, so apparently its harder for us 'virgins' to recognise it. Am loving all the talk of maternity clothese. I seem to be outgrowing mine every 5 minutes. Bras - to underwire or not?

JoEW · 29/11/2010 15:13

Caramel I hit the big 20 weeks yesterday too, just seen that you have the same due date as me!

I know I've just posted but I had to share this:

Me - I look quite fat.
DH - you don't, yours arms and legs are the same as normal. You just look like someone's stuck four cocktail sticks in a potato.

Quality.

CountScoutula · 29/11/2010 15:45

Hi all,

I've just noticed on the stats thread that MouseCostume delivered at 19 weeks and so lost her baby last night. So sad.

I've been feeling movement for nearly a week now, she's especially active whilst I'm bathing and at 4am...I went to see Birmingham Royal Ballet's production of Cinderella last Saturday and she went wild for Prokofiev! Perhaps it was a coincidence as I thought that they don't hear much outside noise until later - I'm 20 weeks on Wednesday?

Apart from a dusting on Saturday there's no sign of snow in Brum Sad. I am rather a pathetic snow/ice walker when not pregnant, so it's perhaps fortunate.

Have any of you come up with names? We've named our LO already - we found out that we're having a girl a few weeks ago it'd be funny if we're told she's a he at the 20 week scan this Friday!

caramellokoalalover · 29/11/2010 16:03

That's a classic observation from your OH JoEW! And happy 20 weeks to you too!

I think babies can hear outside noises from around 16/17 wks CountScoutula so your little bubba was probably enjoying the music.

Anyone spoken to their MW about the HIP Grant? I had been thinking I didn't qualify for it (due 17 April) but just reading on the direct.gov.uk site it says you have to be in your 25th week, not 25 weeks, by 1 Jan. So I'm assuming you have to be 24+1 by 1 Jan...anyone else had this confirmed? Don't want to get too excited and mentally spend it before I'm sure!

JustKeepSparkling · 29/11/2010 16:06

Hmm I thought it was 25+0 by Jan 1st, could be wrong though.

Jo - that is hilarious Grin

MouseCostume - if you read here, sorry to hear your news, take care x

LisMcA · 29/11/2010 16:12

My MW confirmed I qualify I'll be 24 weeks on Christmans day so just qualify.

My due date is 16th April for comparison.

Lis
xx

CountScoutula · 29/11/2010 16:16

Caramello there was a MN thread about the HIP grant a while back, someone had looked into it and said that if your EDD is on or before the 21st April 2011 you qualify. My EDD is 20th April, so I've just snuck in Grin

JustKeepSparkling · 29/11/2010 17:24

That's good then as I'm due 17th April, so should qualify Grin

youngblowfish · 29/11/2010 17:56

Hello fellow April bumps! I have not posted in ages, but just came back from my 20 week scan and wanted to share the news.

First of all, everything is exactly as it should be and the baby seems healthy! I was not particularly worried, but I still feel very, very lucky to know that all is well. And it's a boy! I am over the moon, as I am one of three girls. DH was there and he was squeezing my hand, while we both watched our baby on the screen. The sonographer was lovely and I was completely overwhelmed with emotion, to an extent that I ended up crying with happiness when she told me that we are going to have a son Blush. Oh well, I was always a softie, now I am a pregnant softie! Off to update the stats before my gushing starts to get on your nerves.

Best of luck to every one of you, I hope all will be well.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/11/2010 18:31

mousecostume - I don't know what to say. I'm so sorry that this has happened to you and your baby. I'm thinking of you all xxxx
