Feb babies 2011 - We may not be glowing but we're definitely growing!

Wanderingsheep · 29/09/2010 20:26

The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
angels1 · 12/10/2010 11:45

there was alot of umm-ing and err-ing from her to even commit to her thoughts of a girl though wiggles - she said the baby kept putting her leg over her bits obscuring the view! Having said that.....at the beginning of the scan she did say she thought she could tell what the sex was but would have a closer look later....

Life with mr and mrs wiggles sound very interesting - with mr wiggles shouting about slapping bottoms when people are naughty and mrs wiggles trying not to slap people... Grin

wigglesrock · 12/10/2010 11:54

Yes I'm afraid slapping your bare bottom is a delightful expression handed down through Mr Wiggles family. Some people get jewellery as family heirlooms we get inane, funny only to us sayings Grin

I'm afraid most health professionals bring out the worst in me, think sarky 16 year old (trying to sneak a crafy fag) and you're half way there to imagining my reaction. My finest hour Blush was the poor midwife who dared to ask me "was I feeding the baby myself" cue sarcastic mutterings about hiring a wet nurse, getting someone to make up formula for me!!

40Weeks · 12/10/2010 11:58

ha ha needtosleep that mad e laugh about the crumbs as thats normally why mine itch!

Great news all is well angels, a few of my friends have had the 3D scan and said it was great - the pictures were fab. And the sex was pretty obv too! Might be a good idea to wait til he/she is bigger and cant wriggle away so much! Maybe just a shy one!?

angels1 · 12/10/2010 12:13

40weeks I know you live close to me - do you know where your friends got theirs done? (assuming they are local-ish friends). Would be good to go somewhere recommended.

Could be a shy one - DH is very shy (and also has a small head which baby seems to have too). We are joking about if the baby will have big cheeks (like mine) (and as in face cheeks before you get the wrong idea!) or freakishly stretchy skin (like DH's) or both! Grin

lol at dropping food down your bra/top - thought that was just me - I dropped a bit of a wispa bar yesterday and couldn't retrieve it. When I got undressed in the evening I had warm chocolate smeared everywhere Shock . I'm eating alot of seeds at the minute and they just gravitate to falling down my top - they get stuck in my bra and I get seed shaped indentations on my skin (big Blush ).

40Weeks · 12/10/2010 12:16

Will ask and get back to you.

Chocolate boobs? I bet your DP was delighted!!!

40Weeks · 12/10/2010 12:29

Angels one friend went to Harley St and one went to Babybond in Maidstone which she highly recommends - hope that helps. Am sure you can look contact details up on tinternet

angels1 · 12/10/2010 12:30

choc boobs that have been fermenting in the warmth all day mixed with remnants of bio oil = not so good Wink

thanks 40 weeks - will look at babybond maidstone

byronicheroine · 12/10/2010 12:35

Great news on the scans, everyone. If you want to find out the sex privately, I'd go for it. It's really helped us bond with our little boy, and makes the name list easier too!

TPT - 9 sheets

Good luck with the upcoming scans, we must be nearly there with the scans now, just the big countdown...

40Weeks · 12/10/2010 12:35

Oooh I have had a look to and want one now!! Confused

HighlandlassinLondonshire · 12/10/2010 12:39

Afternoon my fellow yummy February mummies....!

This morning I had my 20 week scan and I can tell you that the DH and I are having a
( drum roll please) ....surprise....!
We decided not to find out the sex baby and I can find I'm absolutely delighted that we didn't. Super excited that I now have something else other than a baby to look forward too, shopping for blue or pink! However I can tell you that I was sorely tempted to say yes, DH wasn't able to come this morning so I very very nearly said 'oh go on then Dr Fred'.

Double excitement as there had been some concerns over the babies health however those where thankfully put to rest this morning when the doctor confirmed that a few of the major organs which had been working properly had managed to sort themselves out...what a clever little baby we have.! Hurrah, had to hold myself together, but i was trying so hard not to cry like a baby. Can't tell you what a relief it is to know that the baby is growing well and more importantly very healthy! Phweeee, DH did a huge WHOOOOOHOOOOOO down the phone at me when I told him.

We've also been given the 3-D image of the baby's face which is utterly amazing if I do say so myself, not at all biased :) wonderful to know that our child doesn't resemble Shrek, as harsh it may sound i was starting to worry that maybe I'd have an ugly child..have seen one or two 'odd' looking babies.

Anyway, how is everyone today? Glad that those who had scan's went well....Arghhh it's just so exciting. xx

Highlandlass xxx

Off to do TRT...?!?!?

naturalbaby · 12/10/2010 13:00

i want another scan now! we had a 3d at 30 ish weeks with ds2 so i keep looking at the photos and wondering whether to splash out again. we got a good deal at the baby show with babybond.

hideous varicose veins anyone? have suddenly got a massive one that's bruised and really sore, after making an extra effort yesterday to do everything i could to prevent them!

Trojan1970 · 12/10/2010 13:08

Angels great news on your healthy scan report. It is SO frustrating when baby won't play ball and get in the right position. DS1 was a real tinker for all my scans. We had a 3D scan with DS1 but I wouldn't bother again. The ones you see in the adverts must have been enhanced (or had hours spent being scanned). However, I would definately spend the money on a private scan to find out the sex if the NHS one had proved inconclusive. That's just my personal opinion though as I was desperate to know with both mine.

NTSZ thanks for the tip. It is the underside of my boobs that itch, so I could say the top of my tummy, or where they all meet (flop!)Grin I'll amble down to the Body Shop later.

TheMulledBloodsOnMe · 12/10/2010 13:16

TPT= 9 Sheets!

naturalbaby- we had a 3D scan with our 1st and have been debating whether to get one for this DC as they aren't exactly cheap but we have decided to go for it as the last thing we want is DC2 turning around in a few years time and asking why she didn't have any special photos of her!

I too have a large, nobbly varicose vein running the full length of my left thigh. I went to see a consultant about getting it removed and he asked whther I was planning on having anymore children (I blushed bright red, God knows why!) and said I was so he said it might be better to wait until I've finished my family before operating as they are liable to make a reappearence insubsequent pregnancies.

Tarlia · 12/10/2010 13:18

So pleased to hear about the positive scans, angels and HL. Looking forward to hearing profs news later.

I'm also considering a 3D but really not sure as I do not want to know the sex and would be so cross if I found out by accident.

Could the itchy boobs be to do with raised body temperature and rubbing? Like a heat rash? Might be worth getting some talc as this should soak up any excess moisture under there.

I will do TPT when I get home from work, the loo roll here kept ripping at the seams.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 12/10/2010 13:20

Hello!

Back from scan, everything looks good and we are having a little girl! I feel a bit sorry for DS who is the only grandson on either side and who really wanted a little brother, but he may be mollified by the idea that he will end up with his own room while DD1 and DD2 (!) have to share. And I am not having a fourth just to make him happy... Grin

I normally have monster babies with stumpy little legs, but this one seems to be quite svelte and leggy. If not for the obvious, I'd wonder whether she is related to me at all... Her head was measuring very (off the scale) small but the doctor said (before letting us see the measurements) that this was perfectly normal because of her being breech at the moment and [some technical stuff I didn't understand] so while the measurements looked small on the scale it didn't mean that she actually had an unusually small head and from the scan everything looked perfectly normal and as would be expected.

angels, Babybond are really good for gender/3D scans. I had 3D scans around 28-30 weeks with both DS and DD1 (and probably will with DD2 as well given that DS wants to see).

SlaughteredSheep · 12/10/2010 13:49

Woohoo for good scan news and healthy babies!!! Grin

Highlandlass, that's amazing news about the organs correcting themselves! Just shows how clever and resilient they can be. Well done, I bet it's a huge weight off your mind!

Angels, I had 4d scan with DD which was lovely. We had it with Babybond and they were really nice. I'm up North so had mine done in Manchester but they are nationwide. We've decided not to have one done this time but I think we would have if we weren't able to find the sex out. It would drive me mad having to wait till Feb but that's just impatient me! It drove me mad when my sister couldn't find out what my nephew was!

Tarlia, I think that they can stay away from that area if you say that you don't want to know but I think sometimes they can be very clear. When I had mine the lady had to look around just like they do on a normal scan.

SlaughteredSheep · 12/10/2010 13:51

Ooh x-posted Prof! Congratulations on your DD2!

Congrats Prof agree with bigging up the own room to ds. My dd1 is hoping I have a boy but I don't think she has fully thought out the ramifications of sharing her room with dd2 should the next one be a boy!! I can't remember if there will be a large age gap between your dd1 and dd2 Wink Congrats again.

SlaughteredSheep · 12/10/2010 14:11

Our DDs will be sharing a room as space is limited in our tiny house! At the moment DD can't wait but we'll see Wink.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 12/10/2010 14:13

So far...

20 girls
16 boys
12 official surprises
and one bashful baby

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 12/10/2010 14:18

Tarlia, sex is actually easier to tell in 2D than 3D -- when we had 3D scans with DS and DD1 they went into 2D to check the sex. And if you have the 3D scan around 28-30 weeks the baby is pretty curled up and running out of space anyway so you'd be unlikely to catch a glimpse by accident. They generally spend most of the time showing you the head and face and then a quick detour down to the feet (for some reason tiny baby feet look particularly cute on ultrasound), anyway.

angels1 · 12/10/2010 14:34

well I've been googling my local babybond and am officially sold on the idea of going there for a gender scan. The added incentive is you get 3d piccies too Grin . Any advice as to when is a good time to go date wise to get a nice 3d piccie? I'm not sure I can wait very long (at all....) to go find out the gender (any appointments tomorrow?? ) but not sure if there's an advantage to waiting a few weeks (and may well drive myself bonkers with the suspense).

Congrats prof great news, and thanks for updating my shy babies stats!

Went to mamas and papas to celebrate good scan news and came away with a nice little photo frame set kit to put plaster cast of babies hand/foot in . Got pregnant lady rage again at the other annoying people getting in my way/ignoring me - I fear this will continue and it's only a matter of time before I burst.

HighlandlassinLondonshire · 12/10/2010 14:37

Yes a huge huge weight off my mind....! :)

Prof: Awwww congrats.

Doc only did a 3D of baby's face and hands..nothing else. I didn't ask for this, he just showed me. Also I forgot to pay for my scans today, whoops..! Left with about 6..oh well, thank you very much NHS.

Will be interesting to see, what the 'surprises and bashful' are. Girls are running away with it at the moment...!

angels1 · 12/10/2010 14:39

sorry highlandlass accidently forgot to congrat you too with good scan news - unintentional memory lapse - sorry.
