Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

OP posts:

angels1 · 06/09/2010 16:57

thanks for all the advice guys. Will let you know how it goes.

Change of subject but I've just discovered (I'm a bit slow!) the jojo maman bebe website - love some of their maternity gear. Am tempted to buy the patterned wrap dress and there's a lovely plum coat that I'm very tempted by.....I have been wondering if I'll get away without a coat or not this pregnancy and if I should get a maternity one. My current coat will go on but soon it son't come close to doing up, and surely in winter we'll need a coat (??????) any experienced people out there with any comment on this?.

How on earth is hyperemesis not enough for them, ten seconds with google and that will tell them all they need to know! And surely anything beyond that is confidential? Grrrr

moonminmama · 06/09/2010 17:48

angels hope everything goes ok re:work. I agree though that a docs note should be sufficient regardless of what it says! I hate doing anything like that I'm such a wuss!

Hope you are ok after your fall worrymummy it would scare me too I think. Though it always surprises me how resilient the little babies are.
I was sick again last night Sad I am putting it down to having too much fluid. I had 2 cans of coke (which I have been craving strangely enough, as usually I hate it and drink come zero) anyway I'd had 2 cans within an hour on Saturday then 2 coffees close together on Sunday night and I was sick both times. Could just be coincidence?

Hope everyone had a ncenweekend. I'm shattered after first day back with all the school ids in!

ledkr · 06/09/2010 18:09

Not sure worry mummy was on a bike. were you w.m.?I ride my bike everywhere but got few funny looks now I show. its baby blue with daisies on and a wicker basket. love it. I would be very worried tho if I fell in any manner. Hope you ok.
Angels. sod em they can get into trouble if they dont watch it.
Went back to work today to find weird woman who sits next to me is pg.newly wed but is a real sick note. I had 8 hrs of moaning about this symptom and that! apparently we should be lucky she's at work at all due to nausea and tiredness! asked boss for parking space and other concessions which I haven't got at nearly 19wks..she's 8wks! Told her about angels and that she's lucky not to be sick. she's in mat clothes too. help. she's gonna drive me mad!

40Weeks · 06/09/2010 18:19

Ok good luck with that ledkr sounds like a right pain in the arse! Mat clothes at 8 weeks? Is she a cow already then?? [Wish their was a 'bitch' icon]

Angels I have never bothered with a mat coat, but it can be annoying if its raining and bump gets wet! A nice poncho/cape thing could work though as would be able to use it again and also quite a few in the shops. Or just get a massive scarf that covers the bumy bit that the coat wont cover!

Have hoovered house todaqy - feels like a major achievement. Just cant feel motivation to do anything house worky as it last about 5 mins before house is trashed again. Have told DH we are getting a cleaner when DC3 arrives (or maybe before!!!?) as I just dont have the time to do it when kids awake and hoovering too noisy when in bed - what a great excuse. Think I might be a genius

wigglesrock · 06/09/2010 18:33

Genius 40 weeks, think it has just hit dh that we will have 3 children in less than 6 months!! I cleaned bathroom today after cleaning in work for 5 hours, and it felt like the hardest job ever!!!

Angels I also used ponchos when pregnant with dc1, really handy, although a cheap swing coat might be better if you are out and about a lot. Don't worry about work I ended up leaving early when pregnant with dd2, GP signed me off, wouldn't let me go near the place.

Sneaked to Ikea yesterday wandered around stroking the baby blankets and cots, usually I just go to Ikea as an excuse to eat dime bar cake and cheap hot-dogs Wink.

40Weeks · 06/09/2010 19:45

Ah dime bars, now I have a craving! Have just persuaded dh to make me pancakes for dessert. Mmmmm hope there is a secret stash of golden syrup in the cupboard somewhere

debka · 06/09/2010 20:03

moonminmama you're not the only one with a Coke craving- I normally hate the stuff but I get through 2 litres in about 2 days at the mo... Not made me sick though, but if I drink it too late in pm it gives me heartburn.

Anyone else having their 20wk scan at 21 wks? Gave in and called hospital today as I've still not got appt and I'm 18wks. Letter on its way apparently, but have to wait 3 more weeks for scan!

ledkr · 06/09/2010 20:19

Mines next Friday. will be dead on but they booked it at dating scan. just starting to get bit jittery now but had such a detailed scan at fmc I'm trying to be calm.
I'm loving my dopler. Are any of you? its just a little bit of reassurance. I feel a lot less movement than with the others cos my placenta is anterior and on all my scans the baby was mooching about behind it. oh dear here comes the evening wind. Take cover.

worrymummy · 06/09/2010 21:23

Thanks for the comments, You are right though ledk I was not on a bike! Just walking and DS1 rode into the back of me the little blighter! It was his first time not on grass w/out stabilisers - think he got a bit carried away. Anyway I think I must have then tripped over my sandals as I really went flying. I think/hope all is OK as no worrying symptoms but cannot be sure. As my scan is not until the day before I am 22 weeks I might ask to have it a little bit sooner if poss.

Anyway I made sure my head of dept knew about how brave I was being coming into school and luckily I had a very easy day.

Glad you are not going back yet angels, are you a teacher too? Think my DH would be thrilled to have the pressure off him for the birth to be honest, although he was amazing at back rubs with DS2.

I have seen and coverted that purple coat too! Seems like quite good value. Have just bought an amazingly expensive pair of boots (40th birthday present actually) though, reasoning that anything will look OK with them, and it doesn't matter what else I wear.

Very impressed with the cleaning - wigglesrock and 40weeks - have just got a cleaner - only 2.5 hours a week but its brilliant. although house is a semi building site so never looks that good!

worrymummy · 06/09/2010 21:24

Also mamas and papas have nice stuff - have bought a couple of things on Ebay x

ledkr · 07/09/2010 09:58

worry i didnt realise you were a fellow "oldie" arent we fab?haha
I have the most amazing boots from faith bought them last year and i am relying on them to funk up any outfit too. I am normally quite a snappy dresser even when pg but i am disapointed that i seem to have got really rather wide which does change what i can wear. I put something well funky on this morning nice dress and leggings with little pixie cowboy boots but when i looked in the mirror i looked like you do in the funny mirrors at the fair!!All short and squatty. Maybe i will have to go a bit more mumsy. I have a smooth knit jumper ddress on today and i look about 8 months pg.Have a few things and think i am going to stop now as its only another 21 wks for me and i think its a waste of money which i can spend on lipo or a gastric band after lol.(am joking btw)

knittakid · 07/09/2010 11:25

Thanks for that jojo maman recommendation, I'd heard of them but forgot all about it.
Have you all seen this resource? www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/lookinggood/wardrobe/maternitydirectory/#6

Have you got a doppler worrym? that might help you to not worry.

That workmate of yours ledkr sounds like a nightmare, you might want to point her in the sirection of her group in here, she might vent all her anoying-ness towards unwitting strangers rather than you...

Deliaskis · 07/09/2010 12:03

Had my 16 wk check yesterday and heard heartbeat which was lovely! Always have of course the obvious worry that they might not be able to find it, plus I was a little overweight pre-preg so I assumed this would make it difficult but apparently not as it was loud and clear.

Feel bad not replying to individual posts but there are so many!

I too am wondering about winter coat. Normally I would make do with unfastened + scarves etc. to keep warm, but last winter was something else! I was really glad of all my proper thermal wear and ski jackets etc. to keep warm (especially scraping ice off the car in -15!) but none of those are going to fit this winter. Not sure if the weather experts are suggesting cold or mild winter this year?

D

grigglepuff · 07/09/2010 12:12

Has anyone got any tips for using the Doppler? I bought one after heating heartbeat with midwife at 12 weeks but hasn't been able to find it on my own. Annoyingly my midwife appointment yesterday was cancelled so I've not heard it in 5 weeks :(
trying not to let it stress it worry me but seeing as i don't look pregnant just fat it's playing on my mind!

If anyone has any tips would be very grateful!

Hope everyone is feeling ok today x

angels1 · 07/09/2010 12:49

hello ladies,

I've been meaning to say to you all thank you so much to all you you for your support so far. I've never really been on a group like this before and I have to say it's amazing how fabulous you have all been so far. I am aware that I'm probably the annoying moaner like ledkrs work collegue, for which I apologise.

grigglepuff I have a doppler and still haven't got what I know to definately be a heart beat. I'm getting more and more noises and seem to get lots of occasionaly very loud skipping rope type noises that I always thing is it moving about, but have no idea if doppler can pick up moving. I've tried at different times of day with different bladder fullnesses....I know there must be one somewhere though as mw found it easily last week.

On work front have spoken to my utterly lovely head of dept who is sorting out what he can with them for me....seems to be a tricky area as since I was away at end of term and have been ill all summer they arn't sure if I'll be entitled to any further sick pay and may be on SSP, it sort of depends on how annoying work want to get with it all :(

OP posts:
angels1 · 07/09/2010 12:52

forgot to say - and worse case scenario they might count the summer as a period of illness meaning they shouldnt've paid me full wages in summer hols so I could actually have to pay them money back...

Trojan1970 · 07/09/2010 13:10

Hello Ladies - may I please join this thread? My details for the stats (if that is still running) are Due 20.02.11, this will be baby number 2, I am 40 and live in South Hampshire.

I'm feeling OK at the moment, I have my 16 week MW appt tomorrow and my 20 week scan is booked for early October.

Angels regarding your coat question, you could do worse than invest in a good coat with a hood (yeah, ok, I mean an Anorak!!). DS1 was born in Feb too and I had chronic cabin fever and walked miles with him wrapped up in the pram whilst I was snug in my anorak. You can not push a pram and carry an umbrella (think I got this tip from a Mumsnet book, and it is sooo true).

Anyway, I'd best stop skiving and get on with some work.

Nice to chat with you all.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 07/09/2010 14:23

Could you go back even for one day? If you do that then I think your new period of sickness counts as a separate incident and your counter sort of resets (and would cover you for the summer).

I nicked DH's down jacket last time I was pregnant and will probably do the same this time. It will just about do up even over a 9-month bump.

americanexpat · 07/09/2010 14:29

knittakid - thanks for that link. I did some shopping at the weekend for maternity clothes and was really really disappointed. I'm in desperate need of actual trousers and can't find a pair I like.

I think a few people have 20 week scans this week, don't they? I've spent the last 6 weeks feeling confident that everything is OK in there but now that my scan is looming, the doubt is creeping in.

GinaFB · 07/09/2010 14:38

Hello ladies, and welsome Trojan1970!

Hope you are all well? Well things are a lot more relaxed in the Gina FB household now was are past the abnormalities scan and we have actually bought something for the baby!

We alo found an amazing 1 week deal at M&P and so ordered the pram. Its starting to feel a lot more real!

Whos got their scan coming up soon?

Trojan1970 I'm also in South Hants! Are you going to Princess Anne?

40Weeks · 07/09/2010 15:01

Welcome Trojan hope you MW appt goes well tomorrow, mine is next Tuesday.

Someone was asking about 20 week scans being late - actually my last 2 were at 23 weeks so dont worry - this is the first time I have had a 20 week scan AT 20 weeks!

Oooh Gina what did you buy for baby?

I have next week off work and will be clearing out the baby's room as its become a bit of a dumping ground for everything that doesnt have a home.

Havent got a doppler as dont think I would trust myself not to freak out when I couldnt find heartbeat, even though I probably wouldnt be using it properly!

ledkr · 07/09/2010 15:02

angels haha she is right next to me talking about how her "bump"is all baby and not fat!!doing my nut in now.You have a real reason to moan so moan away.Cant stay on as at work but will come back later and talk doplers cos i am getting on well with mine but only started at 17wks.byeeeeeeeeee

zerominuszero · 07/09/2010 15:28

Smallblackflowers meant to reply about the manics. Its great that you're a fan, I have to admit you're probably a bigger fan than me as I was never all that keen on the stuff after know your enemy but I love the older stuff as much as anyone. Here's to hoping that our babies get into good music!

GinaFB · 07/09/2010 15:29

40weeks we ordered a M&P Switch Pram/Buggy which I love because it was half price in a 1 week only deal and I bought a cuddly dinosaur that is a "learning/development" toy with crackly stuff in the wings and rattle etc in it! I couldn't help it!!!!

I am not buying anything else until we have the nursery sorted out. We are taking down a wall to make a big room from 2 medium sized ones so it should be lovely once its done!
