me23 sorry to hear this, how miserable for you. I dont think there's anything that can be done unfortunately, just hope it helps you to rant on here for a bit. We'll all be good listeners I guarantee!

Niamh yes I have been suffering with the headaches, although not for a week now. I got one so bad that went on for three days and ended up with funny vision and all sorts so took myself up to the maternity unit at hospital on advice of MW so they could check my blood pressure and urine etc. Thankfully nothing whatsoever showed up, they said it is just one of those weird pregnancy things. I didn't get this with last pregnancy either so that was what got me worried.

They gave me some codeine and said i can take that and/or paracetamol, but DO NOT take Ibuprofen now.
Hope yours ease off soon.

1Catherine1 · 19/10/2010 21:34

me23 that's terrible news. I wish I could give you some advice but I can't. I hope you're feeling better soon and that maybe the doctor can give you something to make you feel better.

pettyprudence · 19/10/2010 21:34

I joined up and then lost the link to the thread - got a lot of catching up to do - oops!

I'm soo jealous of the scans going on - how exciting! Mine still feels like a life time away (12th Nov). Im esp keen to go too as i was disappointed that the midwife didnt listen to the heartbeat at my 16wk appt (i thought they did that) and as the symptoms subside im feeling less pregnant (when i thought i'd be cheering that the nausea is subsiding!).

Is anyone here doing/done hypnobirthing? I keep getting really good feedback and wondering if its all too good to be true????

emma31177 · 19/10/2010 21:40

m23 sorry didnt see ure post when i post my last message the sick is getting me down to i even tryed the seabands but they dont work its stops me sleeping am so tired
and the trapped wind dont help every pain i get i think somthing goin wrong why cant pregnancy be easy ... hope u feel better soon x

JoJoB77 · 20/10/2010 08:46

Niamh29 I've been suffering with headaches too, on and off all the way through. My BP has been fine when checked and like others have said, it's just one of those pregnancy things. I've always been a ibuprofen type girl as paracetamol usually does nothing for me, but had to admit defeat last week and take some and did the trick for me.

I was always a headachey young teenager so I guess with the stack of hormones surging through our bodies it's no wonder they are causing havoc.

I do feel for you though, headaches can be so debilitating.

Have a good day all x

coraltoes · 20/10/2010 12:53

Hello lovelies!

sorry to read some people are still feeling sick. As for headaches I was very prone to headaches as a teen (hormone related) and thought pregnancy might bring them back but fortunately i've been spared anything too bad...just the odd dull fleeting one here and there. Sleeping is starting to suffer, no idea why, but i've not been too awful yet and feel very fortunate. I'm now permanently in my maternity clothes as i want to avoid stretching any of my usual pieces. I've gone from 2 wardrobes full of choice to about 10 items! I guess frugality is the word of the week!

Anyway...exciting news...we had our scan yesterday and found out we not only have a healthy baby but one who is a girl!!!! So wonderful knowing all is well and healthy, i'm sure you all agree it is hard not to worry isn't it?!

I wish you all well with your own scans...it is so exciting seeing them on screen. Can't believe that is it now til we meet her (unless they need to do a growth one at some stage).

I appear to have turned into a teenager! Horrific crop of spots and roaring hormones, sobbed and snotted over my (luckily very understanding) boss yeaterday.
Then to top it all looked in the mirror whilst driving and nearly crashed into the car infront. Two ENORMOUS hairy caterpillars appear to have crawled onto the space normally occupied by my rather nice, never need to be plucked or shaped, eye brows.
WTF? Confused
Now need to ask someone what to do with said hairiness!
DH insistent I am still the sexiest thing on the planet (not that it gets him anywhere!)

Jupiter118 · 20/10/2010 17:53

Jammie - spots - WTF - have never had so many and am so hormonal crying, shouting - awful. I too cried in front of my boss the other week so unlike me.
No issues with eyebrows though they seem to be growing less than usual, but could prob do with threading.

I am doing yoga to and def not very earth mother. More than anything forces me to do pelvic floor exercises at least once a week!!!

Glad to hear of good scans - two weeks until mine - am v impatient!

X

mendipgirl · 20/10/2010 18:32

I held my friend's 2 day old baby girl today. It was lovely, she was so cute! I can't wait for this one to arrive. It's a good job I'm already pregnant or I would have been very broody!!

1Catherine1 · 20/10/2010 18:35

lol poor Jammie - I know how you feel. My OH's boss keeps saying that if you come out in lots of spots then you're having a girl. The other day on MN pregnancy forum someone said that if you get really hairy then you're having a boy. I'm left wondering if they missed something on my 12 week scan - maybe a second heartbeat? [hwink]

In other news - my secret is out, the whole world know I'm pregnant. I was asked by the IT technician at work today when the baby was due much to my surprise since I only told my department, the headteacher and the HR woman. Then one of my year 11 class asked me if I was after much chatter and gossip between them. Have been kinda paranoid about letting my secret out just in case.

Purplefan · 20/10/2010 19:09

Hi everyone,

Just reporting in after scan number 5 and am pleased to say that all is well. Was in there for a good 30 mins and was then dying for a wee!!! Grin

Thought I'd also update the list cos in the mist of all the saga with my pregnancy I am currently sporting the wrong due date.. have changed it from 22nd to the 18th!

KPidgeon · 20/10/2010 19:20

I'm mega spotty too- so embarrassing. All on my cheeks and neck- hideous!

Just started feeling a couple of little tiny pushes low down my tummy when I sit down in the evening- I hope it's baby- does that sound right to experienced pregnant people?! Definitely not wind!

pettyprudence I feel the same- My midwife team missed giving me a 16 week appointment so not seeing them until I'm 19 weeks- my 13 week scan seems like ages ago. So I'm hoping these little tiny pushes are baby reminding me he or she is in there..

sittinghippo · 20/10/2010 19:42

KPidgeon that definitely sounds like bubs making itself comfortable!

This is second pregnancy for me and the gaps are huge between visits. If you dont count the scans as a midwife visit then you have one at booking (10 or 11 weeks) and then not another MW appt until 28weeks. Sheesh!!
Got my scan this Friday and am so glad I will be able to check on baby again, as 18 weeks between checkups is a long old time to work up the worry. Will admit I'm not overly worried though as baby is making itself felt every evening. What a lovely feeling. [hsmile]

Purple glad to hear everything still looking good. Wonder if you'll ever get bored of the scans or if each and every one will be as magical as the first.

Have discovered maternity leggings and OMG it feels like heaven. [hgrin]

sittinghippo · 20/10/2010 19:45

Bored probably the wrong word. Blasé maybe better.

haloflo · 20/10/2010 20:29

Sorry to hear others are still feeling sick. I get waves of it but otherwise I have been lucky. I seem to have a few dark hairs appearing mysteriously but few spots - maybe its a boy?!!

Like others I didn't get a 16 week appointment (1st timer) so know how long it feels to wait for this scan (2 weeks, 1 day!) Time will tick by and we will all get to that milestone. (This is my mantra to stop me getting impatient and contemplating spending more than I can afford on a private scan)

Brillant to hear news of scans that went well, I love hearing about each of them.

Just wanted to report that all New Look maternity coats are 20% off at the moment. Rubbish for those who bought one already (me) but I thought others might like the bargain.

I also wanted to ask when I might feel regular and definate movement. (Am 18+3) I keep thinking I'm feeling something but i'm still not sure. I thought I had the bubbles Sunday but not since. It's making me anxious but hopefully its normal.

katystar · 20/10/2010 20:34

Hi all, thought i'd pop back in as i've not been around for a while. I am feeling quite nervous as we get are downs blood results tomorrow, and I also find out when I will be seeing a consultant as I carry a rare blood condition. Hopefully everything will be fine I seem to be worrying/over-emotional over the littlest things at the minute!
I saw my baby niece on Monday who was 12 weeks early! so very scary seeing how small she was.
Katy x

me23 · 20/10/2010 20:50

Thanks to everyone for your comments and for letting me moan!

I too have the spots everywhere chest back neck, face, stomach Hmm horrible.

congrats on those who have had scans.

mine is in 3 weeks and a bit. Previously we weren't going to find out the gender but know I'm not sure we are both really curious, I've had two dreams now where baby is a girl. Not sure what to do.

Im 18 weeks today not feeling the baby move yet, think it is my excess adipose tissue (read fatness Blush )

polkadottytotty · 20/10/2010 21:04

Hello all

Glad to hear your scans went well purplefan, coraltoes and emma.

Sorry so you are still feeling so rough me23 - I hope things improve quickly for you.

Well, I've been off work for 2 days and my bug has gone - but since this morning I've been having mild period type cramps.
Not sure if it's trapped wind or stretching pains - I had them before earlier in pregnancy, but I didn't think you should be getting them at this stage.

Have decided that if I've still got them in the morning, am going to ring someone (??) for some reassurance. The problem is I'm not sure who to ring - my midwife's number will go through to answerphone as they are out and about during the day (will be picked up later), can we still phone the EPU? Even though we're no longer classed as early prenancy.
My scan is not till the end of the month unfortunately when I will be almost 22 wks.

polkadottytotty · 20/10/2010 21:06

Just found a number online for our PANDA unit which is for 16wks+ so will ring them in the morning if still having pains.

KPidgeon · 20/10/2010 22:11

Yea!- Thanks sittinghippo so glad it's the baby I'm feeling. This is the most exciting thing ever..!

I've been in maternity leggings since week 9- they are comfort bliss aren't they.

Good luck with your blood results katystar

polkadottytotty glad you're feeling better- I had a horrid vomiting virus a couple of weeks back and couldn't keep any liquid down- was dehydrated and it was really worrying but I drank so much water to top again. I had some crampy pains after having been sat down for ages (with bad posture probably in work) and came home and did some pregnancy yoga stretches- that really helped. Was lovely me-time actually. But good idea to call if you're worried- if you call at 8.30am will you get through? Mine answered at that time when I called.

Hope you feel better in the morning.

Right- all of that cringing at the Apprentice has worn be out! Time for bed.

x

PipPipPip · 20/10/2010 22:17

Niamh I'm sorry you're getting headaches but take some comfort in the fact that I'm getting the damn things too! I've had the occasional headache my whole life, but until pregnancy they'd never lasted longer than 24 hours. Last week I had a dull headache for three days.

JoJoB I was also a headachey teenager. I think it is all hormonal-related, so guess it makes sense for me to suffer a little more in pregnancy when my hormones are going beserk.

Polkadotty you poor thing. I hope you feel better tomorrow

On other news, I made a bit of a breakthrough and finally told my PhD supervisors I was pregnant. I was quite nervous about telling them and had begun to feel a bit anxious - unusual for me as I'm normally pretty open and optimistic. I knew they'd say nice, supportive things but was worried they'd THINK "oh damn, more delays to the project." Anyway, they were incredibly nice. Now I just need to get as much written by April as I possibly can. sigh

Hello everyone.

Well had my scan yesterday. Mostly well although she said baby was small and she seemed a little concerned and asked me to come back at 23 weeks when baby is bigger as she said she couldnt check everything she needed to. Baby also was being difficult and not getting the right position. When I asked about sex she said "does it matter" Hmm was a little peeved by that, but hey ho will get another chance. Evetyting she was able to check was in order so that is great.

On anothe note, I have been having terrible hipand pelvic pain and think I may be developing SPD. I have been in pain all day walking about today, I dont know whether it is a continuation of the arthritis I have in my feet or something extra. MY MW app is not until Dec so am thinking I might need to make a GP appointment.

I know there is one person on here with SPD experience, so what might be suggested that I can start doing???

Love to youa ll.

Mixedmama hope your scan at 23 weeks gives you the all clear.
I too think I am getting spd and pgp (pelvic girdle pain) here is a link that explains them both www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/pelvicpain/

Thanks to whoever mentioned the 20% off maternity coats at new look did some shopping online and got a coat plus 2 pairs of maternity jeans as my normal jeans are really digging in now.
I haven't felt sick today (yet) so feeling happier today.
