Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jammiedodger2 · 18/10/2010 20:54

I had thought my baby producing days were over so we had got rid of all our stuff!
Added complication is that I run a community project recycling good second hand baby and childrens clothes to families on low incomes. Every time someone gives me a bag of stuff I'm so tempted to fish out a couple of bits but it seems a bit wrong Blush
One of my friends very kindly gave me some hand-me-downs with the words, 'you are to have these and pass on what you don't need'.SO grateful!
Have the grandparents primed to get clothes in appropriate colours after the wriggler is born.
Am a bit jealous of the superdouper scans some of you are getting, but would also be scared of seeing something I don't want too (a willy or not!)

Hello all

Glad to hear your scans went well Muser and NPAFO. Good luck to those with scans over the next few days.

I have spent the day feeling really ill. Started with stomach pain and feeling sick at 3am this morning - and now feel really fluey.
As far as I know it shouldn't affect the baby, but it doesn't stop you worrying.

I was thinking of phoning midwife/GP/NHS direct. What do you think - am I overeacting?
Scan isn't till 30th Oct and would be nice to get some reassurance, as still getting painful twinges in stomach.

Muser · 18/10/2010 21:10

Call NHSDirect if it will make you feel better polka. I'm sure everything will be fine though, make sure you get plenty of liquids.

jammie our sonographer knew we didn't want to know the sex, so she told us to close our eyes when she was checking stuff around there. We remain none the wiser.

jammiedodger2 · 18/10/2010 21:12

Sounds like you might have a nasty bug (which shouldn't affect the baby) but I would give NHS direct a ring if I were you, just to put your mind at rest.
Make sure you have plenty of fluids
hope you feel better soon

sorry muser, cross post!

So exciting Muser and NowPanic! I don't think I'm going to sleep much tonight.

Larty74 · 18/10/2010 22:20

Anyone notice the halloween smiles? [hwink]

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 19/10/2010 00:13

Larty - I'm a night owl and until now have resisted posting this late but... Good Luck! Am feeling so relieved and happy about good scan just can't begin to tell you how much I hope you have the same.

Polka -I had horrid tummy (no vomming - trying to avoid tmi!) on Sat morning - (post a Friday curry...) but it went in a couple of hours - otherwise I'd have been straight onto NHS Direct or doctor (hours permitting).

Jammie you sound just like my sister - an absolute star! I've never given anything to charity without offering the organiser first pick - hope more of your friends do that too (as youngest of five and 11 nieces / nephews I'm really spoilt on the handymedown thing!).

Sorry, long pat but so happy after good scan I hope you all forgive me ! Xxx

bluebeach · 19/10/2010 07:39

Hi everyone, I haven'y posted for aaaaages, but I have been regularly checking in. Glad to see some happy scan stories.

I have my scan yesterday and all looked fine, I do seem to have a very lazy baby as in both scans so far it has barely moved. This time it was folded over with its legs up round its ears curled up like a ball, It looked quite disconcerting but the scanner said that was a normal foetal position. We couldn't get a very good picture though despite the lovely technician trying for ages. We didn't mind, just so relieved that everything was in order.

I also went to my first pregnancy Yoga last night and it was brilliant. I would definitely recommend doing it, it was lovely and relaxing, especially when we all got under blankets and got lavender eye mask put on us while the teacher said all the relaxation bits. It felt nice to be in a room full of bumps too, though mine was the youngest (next one 23 weeks, but quite a few 36+).

I am definitely in baby lady clothes now, and as we are on a budget I managed to get some great Maternity bundles on ebay and have struck lucky with most things. I only spent about £30 and have some lovely dresses and tops and some good trousers which should see me right for the next few months. I definitely need to do a bra and pants shop as my bum seems to be pregnant too!

We are signed up for NCT classes but after going to yoga last night I found out about lots of other prep classes that are going on for couples so if people find the cost a bit steep I would look in to that sort of thing.

Anyway sorry for the ramble, Good luck with all your scans xxxx

PipPipPip · 19/10/2010 10:08

The charity shop FARA have a few stores in London that specialise in kids and baby stuff.

www.faracharityshops.org/site/shops.html

I'm lucky to live near the Ealing branch which also has a maternity rail. I've nabbed a few maternity items for £1-5 each which has been great. Nothing fancy, just basic tops etc.

But may be worth a look if you live near one the stores.

ffairy · 19/10/2010 11:40

Hello everyone~ Nice to meet u here~My due date is March 22,so glad to join the group with so many wonderful moms.

looblee · 19/10/2010 12:36

Hi all I am due 18th March with baby #1 - 20week scan is next Friday..can't wait.

Bluebeach I have signed up to pregnancy yoga too, friends swear their babies are calm because they did it. I'll do anything for a calm baby! + i love yoga.

I have had a strange feeling over the past few days of not feeling pregnant anymore, I am sure its just that I am less bloated and more comfortable and nothing to worry about but can't wait for my scan next week.

mendipgirl · 19/10/2010 12:58

Hi All, 20 week scan today, baby not behaving though, she couldn't see it's heart properly so I have to back again next week. The little one is already misbehaving and it's not even born yet! However everything else looking okay.

I've got a pregnancy yoga DVD which is great, I've had backache the last couple of weeks and this is really helping. My DD tries to do it with me as well, which is very cute!!

sam26oscar · 19/10/2010 14:33

congratulations to all of those who have had their 20 week scan Smile i had mine yesterday and was very relieved to see all in working order!!
I was dead against finding out the sex, until i was laid on the bed then at the last minute changed my mind ( much to my DH delight) and said yes we would like to know. Then follows 10 mins trying to decide and see if it has a willy or not and the result is they couldn't tell as it was sat playing with the umbilical cord which was dangling between its legs!!! So, naturally i think its a boy as they have always got their hands down their pants {grin]

sittinghippo · 19/10/2010 17:40

Wowee look how many messages, must be nearly time for a new thread?? Esp. now most of us are hitting the half way mark (eek)

This week is going so slowly, roll on friday for my scan.

Congrats Sam teehee its gotta be a boy hasnt it [hgrin]

mendip , looblee and bluebeach - yoga sounds lovely, am almost tempted to give it a try, just not sure if I'm 'earth-mother' enough [hwink] Warm bath and duvet day is about as relaxing as I can manage.

StrangewaysHereICome · 19/10/2010 17:57

Hello - its lovely to read all your scan stories and all the good news - even if some babies are not behaving [hwink].

I saw the mw yesterday for a 21 week check. She is so lovely, she really didn't need to see me until 25 weeks but arranged an appointment sooner. The heartbeat is good and strong - 140 bpm, still playing the guessing game [hsmile]. All is well, I see the GP at 24 weeks, then mw again at 28 weeks. I also have my Anti-D appointment - I had forgotten all the rhesus neg palaver!

I am suffering a bit from insomnia at the moment - too many weird dreams, heartburn and restless legs. I had forsgotten how deeply physical this pg lark is [hgrin].

For all those worrying about leaks - I shall make you feel better by recounting a tale my DH will not let me forget!! In my second pregnancy I had a horrible viral cough and when I started leaking fluid I thought my waters had gone prematurely. It wasn't until I was in casualty that they told me I was wetting myself every time I coughed[hblush]. I have not been allowed to forget it!!

Take care all x

Purplefan · 19/10/2010 18:00

Hi all,
Sorry not posted for a while as been away for a long weekend in Devon and also been busy with work.

Just been reading through and trying to catch up with everything... this thread is moving so fast!!
Welcome to the new additions and Congratulations to all who have had their 20 week scans. Smile

I have another scan 2moro to check how our little girl is doing...this is scan nunber 5 (i think) she is certainly gonna be a well photographed baby!! Wink

I have just had an appointment letter through for 11/11 in Presar clinic does anyone know what that is? It's all getting a tad confusing now!! Confused

Larty74 · 19/10/2010 18:37

Hi all - indeed alot going on today. Scan this morning was fantastic - what a great experience thanks to the sonographer who was a star. really helpful and told us so much! Saw everything including some bits a pieces down below! we are chuffed to bits, glad we found out and most of all so very grateful everything is ok. SIGH. Grin

now i have to pack and get on a plane to america tomorrow morning. ugh, just wanna get there!

glad to hear all the recent news on scans/appointments. keep well ladies!

TooImmature2BMum · 19/10/2010 19:05

Hee hee, loving the Halloween smileys! [hgrin]

Thanks for the advice re ante natal classes, guys - after a really annoying afternoon I am now a lot more tempted to say screw work than I was before. Anyway, it's still a few weeks until they start, so I don't have to decide straight away.

I had my scan this morning and everything is fine and it's a girl!! [hshock] I was so hyper, as was DH, so we had to go have breakfast together instead of heading straight back to work as we ought to. I am so pleased, but weirdly my head is taking a while to adjust because I was so certain it was a boy. I hadn't really thought about girls' names or nursery decorations or anything. I was amazed at how clear the scan was (okay, might not have been so clear without the technician telling me what things were!). I didn't realise you would be able to see things as small as kidneys or nostrils or palates. Baby looks like a small skeleton at present, but a cute one.

Good luck to everyone due a scan soon!

EvianBaby · 19/10/2010 19:21

Congratulations to everyone who has had their scans this week [hgrin]

Mine is tomorrow - so excited and a bit apprehensive... mostly excited though [hgrin]

We should update the list with the boy/girl/surprise bumps! Still haven't decided whether to find out...

Will update you tomorrow girls [hsmile]

Also loving the halloween smileys!

KPidgeon · 19/10/2010 19:35

Hi everyone- gosh I've missed a lot again. Glad everyone's scan are going well and I hope you are all feeling okay.

Just a quick note to say thanks on your feedback re-NCT classes.

bollandbear My classes are £275 as well (South West London) so we've decided pretty much not to go for them. I've got a few friends with babies/little ones already so I think we'll go for the NHS ones if we can and I'll just be very pro-active with mother and baby groups & all sorts once I've had the baby..

We haven't got our scan until 22 weeks- so end of November for us! Can't wait!!

Oh- and I had a nosebleed for the first time in my life yesterday morning. Apparently very common in pregnancy- just another bit of excitement!

Have a good evening all.

K

me23 · 19/10/2010 19:57

niamh29 · 19/10/2010 20:50

Hi guys, anyone else getting headaches? I've had dull headaches for 2 days now and I haven't gotten this with my other pregnancies........any ideas?

KPidgeon · 19/10/2010 21:13

Oh me23 poor you. Can't you get a doctor's note to explain to your work that it's not possible for you to work. Do your work have sick leave? The last thing you need is money concerns when you're feeling really grotty and need to concentrate on getting well and looking after the 2 of you. Can you speak to your midwife/doctor about getting something to stop you being sick?

I'm st St. George's too- yes.

niamh29 I had a killer headache the evening before I had a nosebleed. Read up on it and it was blocked sinus pain- we're much more prone to getting blocked up sinuses and blocked noses with all the hormones pumping around the body.
Might not be that but I don't ever get headaches usually.
