Alice - thinking of you today!

ElusiveMoose · 19/08/2010 09:06

I AM STILL HERE Angry. Got absolutely no sleep last night, so I'm completely shattered. Contractions are just rubbish - I have an hour or so of five minutes apart and really painful, then they dwindle down to 10 or even 15 minutes apart again. I thought it might be because I was staying in bed and trying to sleep, so not moving around, but I've now got dressed and started bouncing around on my ball, and there's still nothing much happening. I did have a very major show about an hour ago (seriously, it was like something out of Alien Grin), so I guess that means there's something going on. But the thought that I might not even have this baby today at this rate, is extremely annoying (not to mention exhausting). I also don't know whether I should keep my 11am appt with the consultant (which was arranged to discuss late induction Hmm). I guess there's no harm.

GYA glad you managed to avoid retained placenta this time. I'm really hoping I don't have it again, because that's what caused my major blood loss last time, which in turn meant I had to have a blood transfusion and stay in hospital for five days.

ElusiveMoose · 19/08/2010 09:07

Sorry, good luck Alice! I know it probably sounds silly, but I'm beginning to be quite jealous of your section today - I know I shouldn't wish for it really, but at least you know you're going to get a baby some time soon!

marzipananimal · 19/08/2010 09:12

sorry things are progressing as you'd like elusive, hope these contractions get their act together soon!

Good luck for today alice, your baby will be born on my due date!

Speaking of due dates, does anyone else feel like they're a bit pointless? Of the 25ish babies born on our list so far, only one was born on its due date. Looks like I shouldn't be too hopeful for today!

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/08/2010 09:23

Congrats sparkle and celly!! Yay, more August babies Grin

But vita and pample, looks like sparkle has leapfrogged us!! We're going to be here til the bitter end Wink

Aussie - No sign of cat Sad I really miss him but I'm glad that our other cat seems to be getting used to not having him around because I was worried in the upheaval of his brother going missing and then a new baby arriving he could have turned into a real problem pet!!

Good luck (again!) for today, Alice. Can't wait to hear your news later :)

marzipan - a friend of mine had all 3 of her babies on their due dates so got my fingers crossed for you!! tho i read in a magazine a couple of months ago that in france they give women a 'due month' rather than a 'due date' Hmm

LO moving quite a lot today, so pretty sure he or she is still not quite ready to leave their current accommodations as yet! Not good news for the SPD. Even coerced DH into sex last night to see if it would start something...but nothing yet!! Not planning on doing a lot today, some washing maybe and meet up with a friend. Fed up with being so achey so looks like nesting fever has gone dormant again!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/08/2010 09:25

PS) Sorry things are going so slowly Elusive, come on baby moose!! I'm sure he'll be worth all the effort in the end!

Doodleydoo · 19/08/2010 09:35

Good Luck Alice!

Elusive, sounds like me with ds, I was having lots of contractions got to the hospital and they stopped Hmm, however started again 24 hrs later!

If by some horrendous possibility you get transferred to maidstone I can only say that they were fantastic with us. Had a lovely midwife who was briliant and with me one to one the whole time, they were friendly and it was lovely and clean if a little busy. Nice delivery suites if not totally posh but as i was concerned about it from having had a fancy London birth last time and all the hassle that came withitWink. I was impressed but hope that you get to have Pembury birth - just didn't want to have to go all that way having contractions every 3 mins!

Chulita · 19/08/2010 09:48

Good luck alice!

elusive I hope things start moving quicker for you, drawn out labours are the pits. Fingers crossed you get your LO today :)

Congrats celly!

Sam's just woken up, off to give him cuddles!

vix206 · 19/08/2010 11:24

Good luck for today Alice, I'll be thinking of you :)

isheisnthe · 19/08/2010 11:49

1 day over due and already getting "have you had him" phone calls - arggggggggggggggg

cakeywakey · 19/08/2010 13:05

Hello everyone and congratulations on all of our babies so far!

Just want to add that little miss Erin Poppy arrived safe and sound via c-section on Friday 13 August at 9.45am. I'd forgotten how tiny babies are, and can't believe how big my toddler suddenly seems. All of us are well though and settling in to our new bigger family Grin

Good luck to everyone who's in labour, can't wait to hear your news!

pamplem0usse · 19/08/2010 13:08

Just a quick one to say Alice had her little boy at 9am this morning... I won't steal her thunder and say any more, but he's just gorgeous and sounds like they're all doing well :)

LittleMiss it's very rude of these people leapfrogging us isn't it?! Hope you're doing OK, so sorry about your cat :(

xxx

thedogwalker · 19/08/2010 13:55

Congratulations Alice and Cakey. Very hapy for you and your families.

Not posted for a few days as I've been well hacked off. I'm now 40+4 and I know that I'm not far overdue, but it has been getting me down, can't help but be excited to meet my little man that it becomes so frustrating just waiting.

Anyway need some advice /confirmation, as I am a first time Mum to be. I think I may have possibly just had the show (big whoop whoop emoticon), but I would just like to ask if anyone can confirm or tell me I'm jumping the gun. Sorry if TMI, but had a very thick clear jelly like substance in my knickers, the only other way I can describe it... it looked like raw egg white Hmm. There was no blood, just the clear stuff. Could this be the show or am I just kidding myself???

Hope everyone is having a good day, take care xx

vix206 · 19/08/2010 14:11

Sounds like a show to me dogwalker!! Woohoo! I'm one day behind you and also frustrated - no show for me though just a lot of random pains - niggles the midwife called them :)

Doodleydoo · 19/08/2010 14:11

Dog - sounds like a show, mine was quite clear with a tinge of pink later on - much much thicker than your bog standard discharge! (Sorry!!!)

Congrats Cakey - Erin is a lovely name - strange isn't it how big and grown up those toddlers are, mine seems like a full grown adult now and chatters as much as her grannies!

Congrats to Alice too, little boy - how exciting!

SmilerJane · 19/08/2010 14:58

Hi All..
Congrats on all your lil bundles of joy :0)
I know i have not written on this thread often but i have been reading (just not had long enough to reply) Long story..

Chulita & Aussie Just realised your gorge boys was born ON my due date lol...

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in my birth story but i will tell you all in case some of you are.. lol

Was having BH for 3wks before hand (Not at all painfull) Had a major row with landlord etc on the thurs.. About 4am (6wks beore Jorgias due date) i started getting stronger BH but again not painfull.. Because my labour with my LO was short MW told me to go n get a cheak-up.. (had no show so wasn't worried)
Was laughing and joking till 11am which is when i was told i was 3-4cm and i wouldnt be going home!! OMG... Still laughing and joking in D Room.... not regular CX at all.. 1 min 5 mins apart then 20 mins then 2 mins so MW werent sure what was happening. 5pm told 5cm.. OMFG!!! Still not in pain.. No drugs needed which was great.. Finally had food as i wasnt allowed to eat ANYTHING! :(
2 hrs later threw up again.. then CX started getting painfull... HR kept dropping but wouldnt break my waters.. 7pm waters broke.. Pain stated gettin worse but CX irregular :( Emergency nurses etc came in... then got a (ie 1) CX then i pushed her lil head out :)... Everyone started to panick as she started going blue.. Every1 started rallying round as CX stopped for 5 mins but seemed a lifetime.. As they approached with Extra help i had a CX n thought they not putting that metal stuff in me pmsl so i turned on my side n pushed her out.. After 16hrs (only GasnAir for the last hr) i finally held her, worried she'll need SCBU but they was amazed at her, apgar 9.. 1am finally ended up on a ward. All she needed was a heat matteress for 10hrs n 4 days in hosp Grin

Just goes to show that sometimes you have no idea whats going on and birth-plans go out the window lol
My longest labour from all my angels. She didnt stop kicking throughout the whole labour and when MW touched my tum or a CX she'd still kick and gosh it hurt more than the cx lol
I hated preg as havin hyperemesis was a nightmare.. id never wish to b heavily preg again for a while.. DP keeps jokin bout havin more but its no joke to me as i am terribly ill :(.. Men just have no idea lol..
Anyway Again Congrats to all the lovely mummies out there (too many to name 1 by 1) and 'welcome' to the world all you new lil ones XXX
T care All XXX
Jane Grin

mrsZaC · 19/08/2010 15:01

yey sparkle there is hope for me yet if you've gone already :0) although I still fear I will be the last one here..
and also congrats to CellyD and cakeywakey, lovely to hear Alice's csec went as planned and has her baby at last, congrats!!! also go dogwalker with your show!! it's all go round here!

poor vix I'm sure you won't be long huney, just make sure your chilled out and destressed, baby will come when you least expect it :)

snowshine sorry to hear your cat hasn't yet made an appearance :0( I've been like dr doolittle the last 2 weeks, I've been dog sitting my grans dog and family cat at my mum & dad's, mum and dad have been back a week now but yesterday I had to look after my grandad's extra huge lab & lovely little kitten for the day aswell, it was a full house!! I would be gutted if any of them went missing so feeling your pain darlin'.

Went to visit my friend yesterday, she had her baby girl Olivia on Tuesday night, which is encouraging as she is two weeks ahead of me. She was just gorgeous, only thing now is I'm slightly impatient but with 2 weeks till my due date (and potentially another 2 after that!) I can't get too excited, and besides DH isn't home till tuesday so baby isn't allowed to come till after then!

Still camping out with mum & dad, totally loving it, very chilled and relaxed. I've almost finished crocheting a blanket for LO, by no means perfect but I'm still pretty chuffed with it :) I like that I'm out here cuz i think if I was at home I would have scrubbed the place from top to toe! 38 weeks today so just started my 'ready mama' raspberry leaf tea, delish, think i'll be buying more and drinking by the gallon, then maybe baby will come out sometime near his/her due date Hmm

love to all you ladies & best of luck elusive hope we are going to be hearing about baby moose soon :)

SmilerJane · 19/08/2010 15:02

gosh just realise how long my post is lol
sorry Blush

mrsZaC · 19/08/2010 15:05

sorry jane xposted, thank you so much for sharing your birth story, what a bizzare sounding experience for you. love to you and your LO. x

SmilerJane · 19/08/2010 15:20

Thanks mrsZaC..
I hope ur angel comes soon and safe and a great surprise ahead :)
With my DD nearlly 4yr ago.. i went to hosp at 2pm because of constant BH 2wks before DueDate ( not painfull at all) n as i got there has 1st painfull CX.. 55mins later she was born so nothing the same at all... Home by 8.30 thinking OMG this morn i wasnt even in established in labour lol
Good Luck on ur labour when it finally happens..
Feel for all those who have gone overdue or poor Elusive having a slow labour :( 16hrs was bad enough XX ((((HUGS))) To elusive n sending strength to get you through xx
(((Hugs to you too)))
T care
Grin

vix206 · 19/08/2010 18:46

Wow I had a 2 hour nap this afternoon and feel like I've been in a coma or something now - just can't wake up! Must have needed the extra sleep I guess :)

LittleMiss I'm so sorry to hear your cat is still missing, I have 2 cats and I know how I would be feeling :( I'm glad your other cat seems to be settling down again though. Our boy cat has never quite got over the loss of his sister a few years ago (she died of kidney failure very suddenly - she was only 4). He's been withdrawn ever since :(

No signs of baby coming any time soon, last night I was really hopeful as I started to get some really intense period cramps that seemed to peak and tail off - today I've had nothing but a few twinges again. Midwife will come and see me on Monday and offer me a sweep, which I may take because she said the purpose of the visit would be to schedule an induction probably for the next Friday. I know they can't force me to be induced but still. I am thinking of trying a sweep first if I am still pregnant because I would do anything to have my homebirth and not end up on a drip in the hospital!

Just waiting for chinese takeaway to arrive now, then bath then probably back to bed I reckon :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/08/2010 19:26

Congrats smiler and cakey!!

Yes pample, if anyone else leapfrogs us I'm going to go Charles Bronson on them lol

vix - I needed an afternoon nap yesterday and on Tuesday. Lets hope it's a sign of imminent arrival, needing all the extra sleep!!

mrszac - loving the thought of you being all dr doolittle, crocheting blankets and drinking raspberry leaf tea :)

dog - sounds like it could be a show! hope so anyway and hope things get underway for you sooner rather than later!

I was going to do some more baking today but decided on a macaroni cheese with manchego, parmesan, bacon, artichoke hearts and vine tomatoes instead. Made an absolute tonne, so tuck in everybody!!

Caught up with a friend today, washed some clothes, made my macaroni and went out for a half hour walk (all on the flat lol) with DH. walking really brought on the BHs and quite a lot of back ache but all twinges have disappeared since i've been home with my hot water bottle. 9 days til due date tho, so really can't be getting too fed up just yet!!

LizzieA · 19/08/2010 19:53

Moan warning:

I've been seriously pissed off today by not yet having my baby, I'm 40+4 which I know isn't hugely overdue but I have felt on the verge of tears all day. I even ignored the phone because I knew it'd be someone checking whether I'd had the baby -do people really think I'd just forget to mention it if he had arrived?

I've not had any signs at all and apart from the huge bump I feel less pregnant than I have for the last 9 months - jnr is still moving and stuff but just seem to have lost my pregnancy feeling if you know what I mean. I suppose I feel like been cheated and I should have had him by now.

It probably doesn't help that DP and I had a row last night and we never really argue. Anyway feel better for venting my spleen ( is that the right phrase?).

vitapulchra · 19/08/2010 20:03

Huge congratulations to Celly, Alice and cakeywakey--can't wait to hear more about your little ones! Wonderful news!

Elusive, I hope so much that the rest of your labour atones for your first stage--you've been suffering long enough. Best of luck and hope it ends soon.

SmilerJane Thanks for sharing your birth stories, which are amazingly different. It's also amazing that your little Jorgia was so strong for being so early! She must be a real fighter.

And LittleMiss, I don't know whether to feel encouraged that someone has gone early enough to leapfrog us already, or be insanely jealous. Saw community mw yesterday who said she'd still be seeing me next week, she's sure. Sad Wah, wah. I have heartburn nearly constantly now but strangely it's even much worse if I drink my raspberry tea! Also after having spent 4 pg's free of nausea am now making up for it as it comes every evening 6pm onward. This pg is turning a bit weird Hmm.

Here's the list, for all the lovely new mums.

i can't keep up, sorry! many many congratulations to all the new arrivals.

my original due date, which i always believed was more accurate, was 18 July, so by that J arrived on his due date.

J's thrush seems to have cleared up (been on the Nystatin for a week tomorrow) but I'm still a bit sore despite the Daktarin cream. Will keep going for a few more days with it. I've also got one really cracked and scabby nipple again which is really really sore - have decided to give it a 12-24 hour break and use a nipple shield. tomorrow i'll go to bf group and the lovely counsellor is back from holiday so I will get her to have another look at the latch.
