muser sounds dreamy! When do we fly ? ;)

Backinthebox · 05/08/2010 20:53

We have a scout camp at the bottom of our field. You can hear them singing 'Ging-gang-gooly-gooly-gooly' down there on a Friday night.

SilverSky · 05/08/2010 21:03

Newsflash: final series of Mistresses is on BBC One now!!!!!

OkieCokie · 05/08/2010 21:15

Muser that does sound idyllic. The fella won't watch Mistresses so it is being taped. But I have just shared a red velvet and a black bottom cupcake (aka fairy cake) from Hummingbird and I also have another 2 for a treat for tomorrow. Nice.

SilverSky · 05/08/2010 21:41

okie that fairy cake sounds divine!! What is Hummingbird?

Medee · 05/08/2010 21:48

I love the Hummingbird bakery cookbook - the strawberry cheesecake cupcakes are fabulous!

rollerbaby · 05/08/2010 21:48

We just put together IKEA side table. It's fucking wonky.

ginhag · 05/08/2010 21:49

muse that sounds completely lovely...

OkieCokie · 05/08/2010 21:55

Silver here

We have had the Hummingbird discussion before Medee and we all agreed that the strawberry cheesecake ones are nice from shop but turn out shit at home! Have you had more success? I have mastered the simple vanilla ones though.

moo have you checked it is not the floor that is wonky?

PerfectDromedary · 06/08/2010 08:55

I can't stop eating today. I have already had two breakfasts, plus an apple and a cereal bar and I am still hungry.

Would it be wrong to eat the salad that I bought for lunch now?

AAAAAARGH.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/08/2010 09:11

Hello ladies! Still here, just managing to keep up. Not much to post, counting down to ML so really busy at work (where I do my posting....must get to grips with phone....) Huzzah to recent scans, am do pleased to see newbies properly settling in.

Have never been to Maldives either, honeymoon was Switzrr

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/08/2010 09:12

Stupid phone. Switzerland. Can't type and wall...

Backinthebox · 06/08/2010 09:53

Do you mean walk ? Wink

Backinthebox · 06/08/2010 09:56

Have reached the stage of no-comfy-way-to-sleep. Which must mean, oh yes! Only one month to go! Anyone who tells you that it's nature's way of preparing you for lack of sleep when the baby is born - tell them to fuck right off. There seems to me to be very little point in spending 12 hours in bed where all you do is struggle to get from one uncomfortable position to the next (grunting all the time.) You might only get 4 or 5 hours of sleep in a 24hr period once the baby is born, but it is 4 or 5 hours of SLEEP! Not just thrashing about.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/08/2010 09:57

...walk, obv. Am at work now. Can't really blame phone for my sausage-fingers.

Cam I too have been eating Everything In Sight for the past week. I already have my own orbiting moons, how much bigger can I get? Two breakfasts is v much the norm for me these days (three if you count grapefruit as breakfast - I don't due to lack of carbs. Only carbs count.) Have treated self to decaff capp this morning in the hope the milk will stave off my early morning post-porridge hunger (and porridge used to be such a filling breakfast...) Only decaff cos I now have a horror of ferrous sulphate, hoping Spatone will do the trick.

Though they're having donuts over in the Palace

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/08/2010 10:04

Box Me! I haven't slept properly in weeks though. Now it's cooler (and I'm getting less cramps - hooray) but I am massive and struggle to turn over in bed. I'm counting down to ML so I can sleep during the day to try to catch up. I've had words with Clint to ensure he doesn't arrive too early - he's allowed any time the week before his due date but not before (partly cos I don't want to share my birthday - I've also explained the importance of getting into the next school year. Though I do get the feeling he isn't listening - he loves to listen when TSF chats to him but doesn't seem to take much notice of me. Ah well. Start as one means to go on...)

Can someone kick me out? - I have so much work to do today I can't be trollin' around here

SilverSky · 06/08/2010 10:45

I seem to snooze ok. It's the pee breaks that do my head in. Tho I slept right through last night til igot severe cramp in my left meg which made me cry out in pain and would you believe it, Him Indoors actually woke up cos he heard me scream was about 6am ish tho. He then proceeded to grab leg and push my foot telling me it would help.

Anyone else's pj's no longer fit? I am like a blooming beer bellied lout in mine. My tum hangs down beneath and it's like it's the first time Him Indoors has noticed my bump has grown as he just cackled with laughter at the sight of me waddling across the lounge.

I am still eating for England. Last night was Toad in the Hole with tin of sweetcorn (large) and tin of baked beans. Followed by can of caffeine free diet coke. This morning I have already had two weetabix, two toast with real butter, two gobfuls of raisins and two choc biscuits and a cup of tea. I am counting down to noon when I can legally eat my sandwich. I reckon I have gained two stone easily. I can feel the top of my ass when I sway femininely to the loo.

My back is giving me so much shit. Someone mentioned siactica but I only get it at work when sat down for too long or on long car journeys. It's also in my upper back not lower. Pain under boob has gone. Would a preggo massage help or do I just grin and bear it? Really hope it's not sciatica! Don't have no pain down my legs or owt.

Backinthebox · 06/08/2010 10:47

Now this is an interesting one! Has anyone else here (apart from *Clucky who is probably fed up of hearing about my theory by now) heard about my 'first babies and birthdays' theory?

I was due with DD at the end of July, but I was told by a work colleague that she would be late and arrive in August as my birthday was in August, and he had been told that the month of your own birthday is statistically the most likely month for your first baby to be born. Now you and Cossie are both worrying about spending your birthdays in labour, and this is first time for both of you! Here's a bit more evidence; my sister was due her first baby in March and went 2 weeks overdue to sneak him into April, when her birthday is. Clucky was due in Sept but went overdue and now her birthday is only days away from her daughter's, both in Oct, my mum had me in the month of her own birthday (but I was due the month before.) I haven't heard of anyone who was early to have their baby in the same month except for the chap who originally told me the theory. So - spooky-dooky!

I spent from 1am on my birthday till 6pm the following day in labour btw - happy birthday to me! Confused

As for school years - not a lot you can do about that one, I'm afraid. I was hoping for a Sep 1st baby, but I've been told the crucial date round here is Sep 3rd. But that'll suit me fine too.

FannyPriceless · 06/08/2010 14:22

boxer Bonnie was born 6 days after my 40th birthday.* My sister's eldest was born the day after her birthday. Doesn't work for my mum though.

*still waiting for my partyHmm
**also still waiting for my honeymoon in the Maldives.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/08/2010 14:44

Fanny at least you can easily remember how old you are now! My sis was born on a great-aunt's 50th so I remember key birthdays by adding 50 to sister's forthcoming birthday! The family was apparently not impressed when our parents declined to name her after same aunt. Glenis.

The only person IRL I know whose first baby was due within shouting distance of her birthday had to have a CS 6 weeks early for medical reasons. Prob does not confirm or deny theory!

Am having one of those rubbish days at work where I have a tonne to do but don't want to do any of it so am chasing bits of paper round my desk and feeling my stress levels rise.

What's a good, non-cliched christening gift? Pref that I can order online! For a baby boy, don't want to go the silver-keepsake route, did a set of classic books for his sister. Around £40-£50?

Muser · 06/08/2010 15:40

Help. I have decided today that this whole thing is just a cruel joke and when I have my 12 week scan there'll be nothing there. All the sickness and the bloating and the looking pregnant is clearly just my body screwing with me.

I think I'm actually going insane.

PerfectDromedary · 06/08/2010 15:58

Muse I've done that at least a million times twice, (once in the shower this morning) and I don't have your excuses for menkulling.
I blame the pregnancy hormones. And the fact that it seems impossible to have achieved something that I wanted so much.

Breathe and it will pass. You can't make the 12 wk scan come any sooner. Unless you pay for one, or go to the EPAU...

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/08/2010 16:15

Mush I was like that all the way to the 20 week scan, if that helps (probably doesn't).

rollerbaby · 06/08/2010 16:58

I was worse after the 12 week scan - no morning sickness, no definite belly... Even until relatively recently, I could sometimes actually forget that I was preggo at times.

Have just eaten a ton of chocolate so baby is going bananas in there.

Whats good on telly tonight?

Muser · 06/08/2010 17:01

I seriously entertained the idea of paying for one for about a minute. Then I realised that a week is not a long time to wait. Scan is a week on Monday.

I am just so tired today. Nothing at work is going the way I want it to, MrM kept me awake with his snoring, and I just want to go to a hotel, by myself, and sleep in a big fluffy bed.
