passthemerlotplease · 02/08/2010 20:08

It's mlic here

I could view the link gracie, lovely pics.

Hideous night. Two boys screaming from 6.50pm to 7.50pm and hubby out. Hideous.

stac14 · 02/08/2010 20:33

oh dear pass is that how bad it is that you want the wine? I'm with you, dying for a drink. Have the boys settled down?

kk so of your night out and lack of hangover lol. I defo have to get out soon

dh rileigh has co-slept with us and you do subconciously know they are there. Maybe thats what you'll need to do to get some sleep.

violet you poor thing the lo is gorgeous.

memphis is lyndon still taking big bottles? How long did he sleep after the 8oz?

gracie you have a gorgeous family, hope ellie gets to birth weight for wednesday

We had rileigh back at the docs today, she was still throwing up and was only taking 1-1.5oz at a time and up every hour, she was bringing up bile and seemed very uncomfortable. The doc stopped the gaviscon and put her on ranitadine and milk thickners. We gave her it when we came home and added the thickner to her feed and she took 4.5oz. Hoping this works for the reflux. She also has an infection in her tummy button so got cream for that. The doc said the grunting and straining is when her tummy cramps, which seems to be worse at night. Feel so sorry for her so have everything crossed x

aw stac the poor wee thing.hopefully this new stuff will do the business.
merlot hope the boys have settled for you!
have to get up and do the bottles and im too lazy to do it! straight to bed after they'r done me thinks.....

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/08/2010 21:23

memphis, stac yeah its a shame cos DP's dad bought us a lovely (and expensive) moses basket which he just refuses to sleep in.

I co-slept with him in the hospital as he wouldnt sleep in the little cot they provided. I guess he's just a mummy's boy and likes cuddles!

stac Im wondering if Dylan gets stomach cramps too as he grunts and strains and is worse at night and he looks really uncomfortable.
Im going to see the HV tomoro so might see what she says.

Also just to say, DP and I had sex again a couple of nights ago, quite painful at first but that went away.
Now trying to find every available opportunity for it when Dylans asleep!

memphis83 · 02/08/2010 21:28

stac he only slept for usual 3.5 hours after that feed, hes been on 5oz as the small bottles dont hold more but he has drank more of them so i have sterelised the big bottles now, also going to try him on med flow teat as i think he is gulping trying to get more out of teat, hope new meds help rileigh tonight, the cream for tummy button should work quickly within 2 days it had sorted lyndons, his looks like a proper button now, can believe hes 3 weeks old today!! i still cant stop looking at him!!
got given my app for 6 week check today its not until 8 weeks after his birth date, dh looked miffed hes been counting down to 6 weeks to get lucky im not complaining!!!
kk thought i better make a start im really neurotic about getting things sorted, i had everything for lyndon inc vests and bodysuits up to 18-24 months by the time i was 5 months pregnant!

beckyg123 · 02/08/2010 22:16

wow I just never seem to find a few moments to post on here- seem to manage to read up a little each day then have to go before i get a chance to write!
Things have been manic with visitors still- but good fun as loving showing the wee man off!
I'm so sorry to hear some of you are going through so much with unsettled LOs- must be heartbreaking when they are so distressed

We decided to give Sam a dummy a few days ago (he took it straight away) after he nearly clawed his eye out sucking his thumb- he's made a real mess of his face as he was so angry in wanting to suck something! realised after he puked up lots of little feeds that he was just using me to suck on and not really needing the milk! He is now back to Mr Calm and we give him the dummy only when he gets sucky and i'm sure its not hunger! I got really upset about giving it to him- must be some stigma attatched but wow, if it means he is more settled and happy then so am i!

decided to express and give him a bottle a few times yesterday as one of the scabs on a nipple crack came off and the skin was so sensitive i was crying at the thought of feeding him- he also took this no prob and am back to all breastfeeding today- nipple all healed

We have had a fantastic day today- went into town to register sam, then took him to meet DHs workmates, then went to the pub for dinner and home so happy to have been out the house doing "normal" things!

My antibiotics seem to be kicking in now although my scar is still gaping and red raw it does feel loads better (still taking regular pain killers tho!)

Sorry not remembering who said what- will make an effort to catch up properly tomorrow... Sam sleeping now so i'm going to spent some time with DH before heading to bed

kkfairybrains · 02/08/2010 22:51

dh we done it too and its better than ever! and dp says it feels better too!didnt think itd be that back to normal after only 3 weeks!
memphis we must have given birth on the same day as ellie 3 weeks today too

stac14 · 02/08/2010 23:44

thanks ladies, i have to phone the docs back on wed if we dont feel shes being helped, also been told we can use gripe water as rileighs nearly a month old (can't believe it) so we will wait and see.

memphis i think i may have to get rileigh med flow as the milk thickners not great with slow flow, but i'm happy to say she managed a 4.5oz and a 3oz feed within 3 hours so hoping for a good sleep

Good to hear from you becky know what you mean bout loving showing lo off, i keep looking at her and thinking that i cant believe we made her lol

dp and kk we went for it too, but its my tum i have to be careful with but it was great not having to fight with the bump to get near each other lol x

OP posts:
memphis83 · 03/08/2010 09:18

morning ladies, how was your nighy dh and stac?
cant believe some of you ladies are back to doing the deed, im so scared of doing it ive been in tears at the thought of it! not sure if its thought of it hurting or fear of getting pregnant again!!!
Lyndon slept well last night not waking til 7.30 but he was red hot when i woke him, the one thing i havent bought is a thermometer, he doesnt seem poorly though apart from being very snotty, think i will wander to chemist and get a thermometer and then take it from there. got my friend visiting later, i put off all my friends visiting last week as i felt very rubbish, still feeling quite low, sick of dh and mum saying we will take him to give you a break! i ended up snapping yesterday saying by taking him out everytime im teary isnt going to solve me feeling like im doing everything wrong, i dont need a break!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/08/2010 09:18

stac yeah I know what you mean, DP said its nice to have my body back lol.

kk I asked DP if it feels any different and he said it didnt which Im very glad about!

Dylan slept with me all last night, it doesnt exactly make him settled but at least hes not grunting all night.
He still woke pretty much every hour and at around 3am he was awake for about an hour and a half.

He did a nice runny poo on the changing mat this morning lol, glad I bought a wipe clean one!

viksam · 03/08/2010 09:30

Hello
Good to hear some of you are getting down to business again, stupidly i just told DH that and his little face lit up.....we are only 12 days after birth here so no chance yet, although im pretty sure things are healing up fine and blood loss is minimal now so it might be his lucky day soon.
Devons feeding has gone mad, he fed ALL day yesterday, well thats how it felt anyhow. Then he gets really fractious at at around 9 for ages. I thought he cant possibly want to feed any more but it seemed to be the only thing that would quiet him. becky we have offered him a dummy this morning as he just seems to want to suck something and I need to sleep, i havent had any extra sleep in the day for the last 4 days due to visitors MW etc. I feel really shattered and so does DH. The good news is he is back uo to birth weight so we must be doing something right re food. I wanted to BF in the night and bottle in the day and what i might try today is expressing but i have developed this mastitis, i did get to see the docs yesterday and I have been given antibiotics. Its amazing how things dont turn out how you wanted them, i wanted to BF but am struggling due to the breakdown of my nipples, i didnt want to fillhim with any medicine but am now on antibiotics, i didnt see him having a dummy but he is a very sucky baby and i think he will need one....not at all how i envisaged really.
stac i hope the new stuff works for rileigh, poor thing.
becky sounds like a nice day yesterday for u, i dont think i hae the energy for anything like that yet.
DH hows things going for u, Devon slept with me for the whole night last night, as you say every time i tried to put him down he cried so he stayed with me, i feel like im spoiling him already but hes so tiny and lovely i dont think its possible to spoil him yet.

stac14 · 03/08/2010 12:03

hey ladies, far better night. Since taking the ranitadine (which she hates the taste of) she hasnt been sick. Dont want to get too excited but the milk thickners have been good too. She slept much better too, yay!

memphis whats the hv said bout your mood?

dh did you feel you slept better?

viksam dont be hard on yourself bout the dummy, i think from what all the others say bf isnt straight forward. I hope your ok. X

OP posts:
Chulita · 03/08/2010 12:11

viksam if you want to bf, keep at it. It's not easy and it can be horrendously painful at first but once the first few weeks are over and it all settles down it's lovely. My nipples are bleeding, I can't shift the thrush and latching Sam on the right is agony but it will get better. I have to keep reminding myself of that everytime I burst into tears when he latches...it won't last forever.
stac so glad the medicines seems to be working!

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/08/2010 12:52

stac Ive had worse nights with him but last night was still tough. He didnt sleep longer than an hour or so at a time and was doing his usual grunting at 6am.

Im about to take him out to see the HV and get him weighed, just hope he doesnt wake up Ive just got him to sleep and he gets very grumpy when I put him in the car seat lol.

memphis83 · 03/08/2010 13:09

dh hope hv goes ok
stac my hv is coming to see me again on friday to check im ok, im generally better but i just find it very scary when im on my own with him worried im doing the wrong thing etc, but then when dh takes him for walk on his own i freak out after half hour! just hate this you need a break comment i keep hearing, i really dont i just want the people around me to support me a bit more than they are, i know they probably think by taking him out they are supporting me but i hate it i find it a bit patronising! glad ranitadine is working, that was a godesend for me while pregnant!!
vik dont worry about the dummy i felt exactly the same way no way was he having a dummy but he was then being sick as he just wanted teat in his mouth not more milk, i plan to take it away when he starts weaning at 6 months but still not sure how i would go about that except for cold turkey, but ive got months before i worry about that!

dont know how you breastfeeding ladies do it feeding for hours on end, by the time the half hour has passed that it takes for lyndon to feed my arm is dead!

Gracie123 · 03/08/2010 14:13

memphis please be really clear with your HV and or GP about how you feel with regards to breaks etc...

I couldn't help hearing myself in your last post. When I had DS I was desperate for a break, but used to feel sick with worry if anyone (including DH) took him out of my sight. I'm not saying you will end up like I did, but if it is post natal anxiety, it is worth keeping an eye on and getting help early, before full blown psychosis can develop.

It's probably nothing, but I know I don't feel like that at all this time (sleep like a baby when DH takes the kids outs!) so I think it's worth a mention to your HV.

Sorry to be so dramatic, you're probably fine, I just don't want anyone to go through what I did with DS

Hi everyone,
Just a quicky to let you know that I have now made it to "the other side" after having a little girl on Saturday morning, 2 weeks overdue having had waters artificially broken...AT LAST!!

When I get a few minutes I will catch up on the news, will be able to join in with the BF grumbling and sleep issues now- hurrah!!

grumpypumpkin yay! hope to hear your story soon

tsc S is only 10 days old so we're a way off the 6 week mark yet!

memphis can you tell them that you don't want them taking him out for a 'break'? Maybe you just need to tell them that you don't need a break from your baby, you'd just like to have more support... As for feeding times, S only feeds for about 15 mins each time. He's soooo quick, DD used to do 1.5hrs (eek) but he does one side, 15 mins and he's done...lurvely! He put on 10oz in the first week so it obviously works for him

chulita LO must be a gannet like Lyndon, slurping feed down in record time! ive told them i dont want a break so lets see if they listen, im going out for an hour later, and im already getting racing heart thinking about it!
gracie thank you for your advice i have really taken it on board, i honestly didnt think there was such thing as post natal anxiety, would love to be able to relax when dh takes him out, last time i tried to have a bath but every car door i heard i kept getting out to look if it was them getting back, had argument with dh other day as i wouldnt let him walk him to visit his gran as it meant them being out for over 2 hours without me, looking back i was a bit in the wrong hv has mentioned at 6 weeks seeing a truamatic birth councellor as she thinks this could be behind it.
congrats grumpy cant wait to hear the story

Chulita · 03/08/2010 17:13

Ah, gotcha tsc took til 8 weeks with DD but at least we're a week down!

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/08/2010 17:57

Congrats to grumpypumpkin!

Is that everyone now? Wheres the list?! lol

Dylan now weighs 9lb 6! Hes put on 2lb in 2 weeks they are really pleased with his weight gain and it reassures me I must be doing something right with his feeding (even if it does feel like torture at night)
