So is it worth paying the £10.95 to get into the baby show? just wondering if me and dh go, we've spent £22, plus travel, and would it be beneficial.
I've spent today working out our budget once I go on maternity leave, and dh changes his job later this month. So much fun.....
I'm about halfway through my Xmas shopping, run out of money though so I need to wait until Oct to finish it

sweetheart · 14/09/2005 15:59

I haven't been before but my SIL has and she said it was good. Apparently lots of the stands do "In show offers" which can mean you get a few bargains.

Also there are lots of little freebies - I know Huggies are giving out free nappies and Pampers provide all the nappies and wipes in the baby changing areas.

dramaqueen72 · 14/09/2005 16:13

if youre baby shopping anyhow its def worth a look. I went a few years ago now tho, but the in show freebies are always nice, -esp like I say, if youre buying the product soon anyway. so check thro the stands and see if brands you want to buy are there. magazines also do buy this issue get free gift/subscribe here get huge freebie bag i like things like that.
s/h sounds like you and I have christmas nearly sorted budgetwise!

sweetheart · 14/09/2005 16:18

DQ - I normally use my xmas bonus to pay for all of xmas but we've had to budget this year as my bonus is going towards my mat leave.

We have saved enough for other peoples presents but I'm not sure how we'll pay for our prezzies dd's prezzies and food!!!!

Mind you - with a new baby I'm planning on inviting myself to other peoples houses so hopefully I won't need to buy any extra food

dramaqueen72 · 14/09/2005 16:37

s/h yes we normally use dhs bonuns.but of course this year i kinda have it earmarked for baby! lord knows how it will all get paid for. but dh is telling me as long as I stick to budget he has something up his sleeve........hopefully NOT robbing bank!
just being poking about on baby show site and found several freee things mentioned -such as free three pack of cloth nappies to try that kinda thing. we are going on the friday,a nd dh has given me go ahead to book 3d face scan so am pretty excited now! I sound very sad dont i? getting excited over this!

dramaqueen72 · 14/09/2005 16:38

oh god forgive spelling. type much faster than i think!!

sweetheart · 14/09/2005 16:44

no not sad at all!! We will probably go on the saturday, but we haven't decided for def yet. I have a scan on 13th October and if they can't confirm the sex I will ring and see if they have any scans free. I know it says face scan but I bet loads of people ask them to slide down a bit

Perhaps your dh has been saving up for something special for you come xmas you lucky thing!!

ei23mummy · 14/09/2005 16:46

im not too good at budjeting my money! im really good at writing budjet lists but really crap at sticking to them!! i always leave everything til the last minute and then see loadsa stuff i want/need to buy so end up overspending!!- its esp. bad at christmas when i get really excited and impulse buy!! iv warned everyone that this year if i have the energy to shop theyll prob end up with really ridiculous prezzies due to raging hormones and my tendency to impulse buy!!lol
dq, are you feeling in better spirits today?? hope so!
im really bored. iv gone back to disc. health as its baby week and theres some new progs on. mum+one is quite good but theyre repeating the ones from this morning now so iv already seen them.grrr iv gotten bored of online sudoku aswell so whats a girl to do??

ei23mummy · 14/09/2005 16:49

sweetheart · 14/09/2005 21:06

ei - there were shows in Glasgow and Birmingham but you've missed them!!!

dramaqueen72 · 14/09/2005 22:00

dramaqueen72 · 15/09/2005 09:58

welcome back minnie, sounds like you have been busy
nemo, with you on the spd, its so painful at night. I had heard the physio wasnt fantastically helpful so would love you to say, oh no its wonderful really helps........you not sounding very like that right now?!! even my midwife kinda said its no help.apparently to get any better we have to give birth- oh great!
suffering bad shoulder pains today -am I falling apart or what!- lord knows why, cant think of anytime I strained my shoulder......unless its connected in some weird way to spd too. anyhow my left shoulder hurts and hurt last night so much it woke me up.
dd2 has caught a cold -she never catches any usually- and then the relative we left her with on monday to go to london said YESTERDAY 'oh yes, my son has terrible sore throat and cold, temperature, has for few days now.....' gee thanks for telling us. so nemo, much understanding from my house to yours, dd2 is not a happy bunny!

ebbie22 · 15/09/2005 10:29

kangel · 15/09/2005 10:54

Morning all

I just read the Christmas babies thread and got a bit angry on there, oops!!! Am sure i'll get some harsh comments back but at the moment I don't care! Probably will later though!! Must be having one of those emotional days as have shouted at a woman at work today too - well she deserved it!!!!!

Have got a midwife appointment this afternoon so at least i'm only at my desk for 1/2 a day...Yay!!!

BROWNY · 15/09/2005 11:04

Hi Nemo, hope your blooming, not too long to go now!.

Don't want to pester you, but have you got that book on sign language for me? I'll send you a cheque to cover cost soon as you send it! I really need it now as J needs to know more signs asap - I'd be really grateful if you get the time. Hope A is being good for you - take care, K x

george32 · 15/09/2005 11:52

Hi all, I will have to go & see what this Xmas thread is all about. Not had chance yet today.

Minnie, welcome back. Have a good holiday. Hope you can get back to us soon.

Kangel, that's you, me & Bonkerz with an appointment today then. Thursday must be a popular day with midwives!

Sorry to hear you are in pain still Nemo. I grumble enough when I get any pain, so it must be terrible to have it all the time. I hope you manage to get some naps in today too.

Sounds like it's a pretty miserable time at yours today too DQ. Flapjacks, that's the answer. They are a cure all for everything I think.

Better day for me. I zonked out at 9.30pm and only woke a few times so feeling much brighter, plus I'm not in the office which always helps.

Off to read the Xmas thread now......

ei23mummy · 15/09/2005 12:12

hey ladies, how is everyone today?? (apart from the sore hips, tiredness, veiny bits n bobs etc) i woke up this morning with the weirdest feeling in my left leg. it was as if my knee had disappeared and the top and bottom of my leg wasnt connected!! now its really cold(my knee) and iv got pins and needles in the lower half of my leg!! weird huh![confused emoticon] has anyone else had anythin similar??
DQ, your shoulder pain may be caused by either indigestion in your bowel, or as your womb is pushing everything upwards it may be referred pain from something pressing on your diaphragm! (i know- nothing but problems!!!) its actually quite a common thing to have happen but its usually put down to strain aor bigger boobs! so not to worry, try lying on your right side (if you get a chance) as it might help to spread out everything in there to ease it a bit. btw when you get to sleep do you sleep on your left? if so that may be the culprit!!
how is everyone else then? whats this about dec babies?? is that the one on the pg thread page??

dramaqueen72 · 15/09/2005 12:58

ei, yes I am thinking this silly pain is nto shoudler pain but deferred from something else...so could be from big boobs, baby squishing everything, indigestion? oh well i can take my choice then!I sleep on both my left and right, and grumble alot when turning over re spd! it must be so fun to share a bed with me (poor dh)
george, have cookie baking to do this afternoon. not much cant be helped with choc chip cookies
who asked about baby show? god my brains so useless at storing stuff lately...anyhow yes you can buy tickets now or at door.
oh kangel what have you said on that thread? must go see...............

Nemo1977 · 15/09/2005 13:04
