a lie-in until 7.30am, that sounds lovely - got lie-ins until 7.45am on Sat and Sun but this morning I struggled when the alarm when off at 6.00am........so did dd, so she was a good excuse to be late to work this morning
we got loads down around the house on the weekend so will stop stressing about that for the moment
somehow managed to spend £1k, all on the house though. New carpet for 3 bedrooms, stairs and landing, new curtains for 2 bedrooms and some bits and pieces from Homebase. oh well, that's what credit cards are for.......

ninah · 05/09/2005 10:57

Hello all. Glad to learn I am not the only beached whale! do people greet you 'oh, you look ...well!' (sometimes followed by 'what are you now, about 7 months') lol
Ds's 3rd birthday today.

Nemo1977 · 05/09/2005 11:03

ninah happy birthday to your ds...3 bless.

scully nightmare about getting up, although the sleep in was appreciated after ds reverting back to his 6am wake ups the past week.

sweetheart · 05/09/2005 11:18

ninah - Happy Birthday to ds!!!!

Nemo - I'm having similar problems to you today - apparently there is a letter waiting for me at home telling me I owe £200 to the tax credit people

We stopped claiming tax credit about 18 minths ago!!!!!

Bloody people!!!

george32 · 05/09/2005 11:31

Morning everyone.
Tough day today, 1st day back after a fortnight off - urgh, how bad did I feel when the alarm went off.
Bit of a dodgy episode on the tube, I started sweating profusely & thought I was going to pass out, and that was with a seat! Quite scary really. It wouldn't be so bad working if I could only by-pass the journey.

DQ, I'm very of your bundles of baby things. I think I need to buy things now. I have bought 1 thing for my secret stork though
Bonkerz & Sweetheart, sorry you are both in pain. It's tough when you are limited for pain killers isn't it.
Right, I have a million e-mails to catch up on so I'd better disappear...........

ebbie22 · 05/09/2005 11:44

wow,busy this morn,arnt you.....glad everyone[bar sw]is ok,sorry to hear bout your infection...
I feel real down today and HUGE...

ninah · 05/09/2005 11:48

ah thanks! he's a lucky little boy. Saw his grandad, great aunt and aunt yesterday and lots of cards to open this morning. Great excitement. Kind of expecting tantrums later!

george32 · 05/09/2005 12:46

It's really hard to work with a little one booting my tummy every few minutes!!!

dramaqueen72 · 05/09/2005 12:47

hey ladies
george, hope youre okay hun, do take care of yourself. I keep having those funny hot moments too, must be like the menopause feels! keep a drink of water handy incase it happens again. I'm sending you an email btw. tbh, dh would leave baby shopping til the very last minute, but that really stresses me out and right now we are supposed to be doing all we can NOT to stress me out! our 'main' items (ie; anything over £60, such as cot etc) we havent got yet. think I've decided on the paint shade for the nursery so can hopefully go ahead and do that soon, its all cleared out, just bleak and grubby right now.
s/h, I'm sorry to hear about your letter! ugh! they are the most hopeless company every dont you think? I havent even got my ' keep paying me even tho its pittance form' to return to them -saw the adverts this morning about how ti must be back soon- and remembered didnt get it last year, had to spend ages on phone with them then too.
last night baby was so wriggly! like having a belly full of snakes! at one point a pointy bit came sticking out my belly, a foot or something.......it was a bit freaky!
ninah, happy birthday to your lovely ds. is he having fun?
and yes, people are constantly telling me how large I am for dates.........which drives me MAD! midwife assures me I measure exactly right, and I've hardly put on weight anywhere but my bump. so just writting these people off as idiots who know nothing!

babygibbon · 05/09/2005 12:58

I also feel huge. I haven't seen a midwife for ages (next appt on Thurs) so don't know whether I should be worrying, but I am much bigger than last time, and I've put on quite a bit of weight (not just on bump).

I'm due to go away this weekend with old school friends and I would really be looking forward to it except that one of them is pregnant (due Jan) and she's tiny, fit and looks great. I'm the complete opposite and there's nothing worse than being compared when you already feel bad. I'm getting very slow as well...

Another friend who's going is on her third round of IVF, her last attempt before they consider adoption, so I'm just be very grateful for what I have got, but sometimes a good moan helps...

dramaqueen72 · 05/09/2005 13:07

babygibbon, I'm sure youre fine. I carry 7lb something babies in a heck of a lot of water making my bump much larger than the baby is, -iyswim! I am defiantely finding I am slower, and VERY tired suddenly after doing the smallest things! I wonder what i will be like at 37wks!
I bet your midwife doesnt think youre large.adn they are the ones that know! have a ggreat time with your old school friends, and never mind the tiny lady with no bump! bet she desperately wishes to look more pg

dramaqueen72 · 05/09/2005 13:08

and I'm really sorry about your friends IVF. tis just not fair, hope this is their time.

ninah · 05/09/2005 13:25

yes, as long as the big tum shifts sometime after they're born fair enough I s'pose. A bit fed up with waking up with backache and getting out of breath all the time.
Yes ds is having a lovely day or ... so I suppose, he has a cake coming at some point and his best friend is back from holidays so no doubt they're up to some mischief together. We're going to take him out on his bike tonight, and measure him against the wall where we've marked his height at 1 and 2.

sweetheart · 05/09/2005 13:31

Oh ninah - that is so lovely. My parents used to measure me and my sisters on a door frame and it's something I really wish I'd started with dd. Although we moved house when she was about 3.5 so it would have been sad to leave that behind. We are planning on staying in this house quite a while so perhaps when this baby is born I will start it for them both (as a kind of comparison)

We did some shopping for the baby at the weekend too - just some clothes. Dd picked a coming home outfit for the baby which she was really chuffed about - bless her.

I haven't heard from the school so I take it she's not been sick again today - thank goodness.

Dh and I have decided not to claim tax credit anymore - even when this baby arrives. It's too much hassle and we seem to spend more time paying them money than the other way around!!! Gggrrrrr

sweetheart · 05/09/2005 13:32

ohhh also meant to say - this baby did the biggest kick yesteday afternoon - I was laying on the sofa relaxing and the kick was so hard I nearly fell off the sofa. Shame dh was out playing golf - wish he'd seen it!!!

ninah · 05/09/2005 13:49

oh yes meant to say sorry poor dd, sh! what a horrid start to her day. Hope she is better now but I'm sure you'd have heard if not.
Yes 'Goldilocks' has a kick like a mule, too!
still no shopping to speak of yet, but ds new room half painted just flooring to go. Managed to get blackout blinds in the end from Homebase (blackout AND thermal, so here's to a few lie-ins!)

ei23mummy · 05/09/2005 14:41

expatinscotland · 05/09/2005 14:57

I'm already getting Braxton-Hicks! Again. I had LOADS w/dd. Hmmm.

ei23mummy · 05/09/2005 15:04

hey expat, what do they feel like?? i was gettin what felt like a weird tight feeling across my bump the other night it felt as though my belly was being filled up with somethin then emptied out again- could that be b/h's?? it was the same day me and dp went to the pub and i leaked all over my top!! how embarassing!! iv taken to wearing breast pads all the time just in case!!

expatinscotland · 05/09/2005 15:08

Those are Braxton-Hicks. They just cause the bump to go all tight. They don't hurt or come regularly or gain strength like normal contractions. The midwife told me the uterus actually contracts throughout pregnancy, but you only feel these Braxton-Hicks when the baby starts to get bigger, usually in the 3rd trimester on.

It's the body practicing for the real thing.

sweetheart · 05/09/2005 15:18

what a shame real contraction don't hurt, or come regularly or gain strength!!!!!

Ahhhhhh, if only!!!!!

ninah · 05/09/2005 15:24

I never had Braxton Hicks, then again ds was induced so maybe my body didn't practice enough

expatinscotland · 05/09/2005 15:25

I had loads and loads w/DD. Went into labour at 38weeks+2days. Here's hoping history repeats itself with this one, which is already measuring large for date . . .

ei23mummy · 05/09/2005 15:28

wow how exciting!! i didnt realise what it was!! my body must be on a roll practicing then cos my insomnia's come back with a vengeance!! i didnt get to sleep til 3:15 last night and then i was up at 7 ready for uni i got in nearly an hour early!! thats not like me im usually the last one there!!

dramaqueen72 · 05/09/2005 15:49

expat, ditto on the b/h. gosh lots of them. also often get them if I do too much.......I know I've done too much when my bump goes really hard and wont relax for ages.....
I'm getting those hot flushes/dizzy moments this afternoon too.....i need a lie down!
