Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:

Hi Sweernitanitro,

Thanks for that, I had no idea, I knew you had more to towards the end but thats it. Funny that I am having my 16 week one so early, I wonder if they miscounted, oh well.

Have a good day!

moonminmama · 23/08/2010 10:24

ledger glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday. I am really missing my summer holiday this year. I've been spoilt and have been lucky enough to have a lazy summer holiday abroad almost every year since I was 2! We went to euro Disney in may and had an amazing time, but I miss the lazing next to the poolSad

proff you sound like a very level headed and sensible lady in the advice you give! I am such a hot grad on those aibu threads... Admittedly only actually complaining to my dh rather than on the threads atvthe 'bullies' that are on there.

As for dental care, I had an apt tgecweek before finding out I was pg where I was told I needed a wisdom tooth out. I had to then wait until my 2nd trimester to have it taken out because of the injection... On the plus side, at least it was free!

brockley I have my 16 week appointment next week at 15 + 2, which they told me was a week early but mw is on holiday week after. I don't think it's too essential to be dot on 16 weeks - I'm not sure what it's for but think it's just to get blood results/check progress etc. If anyone has had their 16 week appointment I'd be interested to hear what went on/how long it takes.

moominmama I miss my summer holiday too - I've always gone somewhere for a week in the summer, usually only in Britain but at least it was a change of scene. Didn't book anything this year as we planned that hopefully I'd be in the early stages of pg through summer and I knew I'd feel too rough to want a holiday. We're still hoping a weekend away might happen in sept/oct, and other than that we are hoping to go away (for once) outside school holidays next year whilst I'm on maternity leave, although not sure how easily portable a baby will be/how relaxing it will be. We're too scared to try excitements of planes with a baby so might be a trip to norfolk/Cornwall/Devon/Cotswolds (out usual holiday spots/places where we have family so might be nice to say hello with the baby). You can tell I'm getting excited at the thought as I'm missing my hol this summer!!

Anyone out there still got ms??? Mine does seem to be (fingers crossed) less servere at times. Occasionally I feel 'normal' and other times really sick. I just wish it would go away! I'm still funny with lots of foods and I' still on medication for sickness as don't feel it's gone enough to stop. Must be stopping soon surely (and please don't tell me it might last the whole 9 months - I couldn't cope!). Just wondered if anyone else still getting it or if everyone except me is still nausea free Envy

americanexpat · 23/08/2010 11:12

I had an appt last week at 15+6, to have another lot of blood drawn for screening (forgot what it's called - double test?). She drew blood, I asked a few questions then I was on my way. I think things may be different in Scotland, as I have to collect my notes after the 20wk scan which will have my test results then midwife said I should schedule an appt for around 24 weeks.

We are planning a holiday to the Canaries when I'm 26/27 weeks, last chance for some sun and a carefree holiday with just the two of us.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/08/2010 11:21

I'm having an appointment on Tuesday at 13+3, but that's because I am "high risk" Hmm

Not sure what they'll actually do other than argue about discuss GBS. If the hospital had remembered to send me the letter we wouldn't even have needed to do that.

brockleyD · 23/08/2010 11:30

Hi Angles1, there is a post about 16 week appointment and apparently they listen to the babies heart beat, check your blood and urine again and go over test results. Apparently its very quick normally, 10-15 minutes.

I will update you all once I have had my appointment to let you know what it involved, its on Thursday morning.

Really looking forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat again, only been 2 weeks since scan but I like the reassurance and DH won't let me get a doppler, he says he thinks it will cause more stress then its worth (if one day I can't hear it etc!) But I really like the idea of giving myself a treat and listening once a week, oh well.

D

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/08/2010 11:37

Now I have a doppler that I'm not really using -- you're in South London, aren't you? SE or SW?

GinaFB · 23/08/2010 11:50

Hello everyone, its been a while since I was on here! Its been a hectic few weeks!

I have had a hormone induced migraine last week that lasted 5 days...... at one point I thought my left eye was going to explode! Not nice at all!!

I am on a count down for my next scan. Becuase of my previous pregnancy issues I have one at 18 weeks which is Wednesday week. Very nervous and trying not to get too stressed at the thought of a reoccurance of Spina Bifida.

After the scan provided everything is ok next midwife appt is 25 weeks.

Hope everyone is ok.

xxx

angels1 · 23/08/2010 11:59

ohh gina that sounds nasty - do you suffer from migranes usually? I've had a bad headache on and off for a couple of days that seems to come every now and again, and bad and horrible as it is it's nothing compared to a migrane.

I'm hoping to get myself to sainsburys this afternoon and see, amongst other things, if I can finally get my bounty bag (it's always out of stock Confused ).

GinaFB · 23/08/2010 12:07

I might get maybe 2 or 3 a year angels, nothing like this though! I spent Thursday with a stabbing pain in my eye and being very sick! Lovey!!!

I suspect that additional stress of the up coming scan hasn't helped! Last time we were very excited about finding out the sex of the baby and just weren't prepared for anything being wrong....

If Sainsburys don't have them try a Lloyds chemist they are normally in stock there!

ledkr · 23/08/2010 12:58

Hi all i have my 16 wk app today so will let you know after. I hope she will have alittle listen as dd will be with me.I have to have bloods for rhesus ant bods too.
Am having a no symptom anxious day so would be nice to get some reasssurance.
Gina-i had a headache for most of my 2 weeks in spain.Even rang my gp who said its the heat ad to drink plenty---yawn!I begged to be allowed some stronger pain killers but he wouldnt budge. It did seem better when i made the effort to keep cooler but i just adore the sun.I spent one day in the room crying with self pity. We tried accupressure points and i paid for a massage but nothing shifted it. It was also over my left eye and made me sick.I did get these with dd but cant remember if they carried on.
Moomin mama-i was moaning at my dh last night about the mumsnet bullies and he asked me why i go on there. Have to say i didnt have much of an answer for him.I am so hot headed especially when pg that i literally fume at the comments.however i recall during this pg that i have been scared like when i bled or had pain and was worried about ds screning that i have posted and recieved so many quick and kind reassurances so the flamings are al part and parcel to it.
Anyway off to get a bit of shopping before the mw app. I hope she doesnt tell me off about my very tanned belly.(hmm)

ElleB1980 · 23/08/2010 14:04

Hi all

I had my 16 week appointment last Friday, the mw took some blood for the double test, took my blood pressure, went through my previous blodd test results, checked my urine and had a general chat with me about how I was feeling, if I'd felt baby yet, any bleeding etc.

It probably lasted about 15 minutes altogether I would say. I've got my 20 week scan in 3 weeks, then see the midwife again at 25 weeks, 28 weeks and about every couple of weeks after that I think.

HTH,
ElleB

girlafraid · 23/08/2010 14:49

Just back from my 16 week check so thought I'd drop in with an update

We went through all my test results and as everything was normal that didn't take too long. We also discussed VBAC Hmm and I was given a leaflet.

Then the exciting bit, listening to the baby's heartbeat. Nice and strong and she found it straight away which was lovely!

Next stop - appointment with consultant @ 18 weeks to discuss delivery!

Starting to really look forward to the 20 week scan and just hoping they will be able to tell me if we're pink or blue Grin

PDR · 23/08/2010 17:17

Hello everyone!

All this talk of holidays is enough to make you want to jump on a plane!!!!!!!!!!!
We're off to Australia on 1st October and I am super excited! Our friends out there must be getting somewhat annoyed with my constant texts, emails, phone calls asking silly things but I can't help it! I think we have about 6 weeks to go now and we have been planning this trip for ages!

On a more negetive note, I STILL have a urine infection and it's really getting me down. I have had 2 courses of antibiotics (one of which was double strength) and it's still not gone. I have started a thread about it in "General Health" but if anyone has any advice let me know. It's so painful around my kidneys and I can't drink any more water than I already am!!!!!!!!!!
Going to try to make another doctors appointment tomo but can't help feeling they think I'm a PITA/hypercondriac/both :( !!!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/08/2010 17:25

Have they done a culture to identify exactly what it is?

Someone on the Feb 2011 group on another board had a urine infection and had to have antibiotic injections -- not sure if that might be the next step?

brockleyD · 23/08/2010 17:30

Hi ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave,

Yes I am in South London, Brockley. Why aren't you using your doppler? Didn't like it?

D

PDR · 23/08/2010 17:32

I'm not sure you know.... they sent all 3 samples to the lab to be looked at.... I will ask the doctor.

Oh dear not injections! But at this point I will do just about anything!

brockleyD · 23/08/2010 17:33

PS, South East, Lewisham near Greenwich.

ledkr · 23/08/2010 19:32

Hi all. 16 week app very straight forward had bp taken and urine dipped and little chat re holiday etc. Then she listened to the hb which was good an easy and strong-remember they couldnt find it at 13wks so i was prepared. Best bit was that dd was with me and heard it too. She went all silly and looked teary how sweet.Felt really good after cos now those symptomless days wont be so scary.I have noticed how sweet dd has been lately. She was really worried last night that i only had toast for dinner and just now said to me"are you ok with the shopping bags?" and then proceded to drag one of the heaviest ones across the floor. She automatically picks things up off the floor too.Aghhh.
Have to get a few maternity clothes tomorrow i have hardly anything and back to work next week. I am hoping to still find few bits in sale as our holiday provider went bust while we were away so we had to cough up for the 5* hotel so until abta or barclay card cough up i am brassic.Looked online but all looked a bit tatty tbh.
pdr, thats along time for you to have the uti. Poor you, so uncomfortable.Yes the cultures should come up with somthing. You may need a less common anti biotic. Good luck.

PinkiePoo · 23/08/2010 19:58

Evening all...

Hope everyone is feeling well. There is a lot for me to catch up on on here, but i did notice some of us suffering with headaches. ME TOO!!!!

Horrible huh?? I didn't suffer with any sickness so maybe this is my curse of having an easy first trimester. Went to docs today, as they seem to be getting worse and he prescribed me Codeine. I will only take when its really bad and good old Paracetamol doesn't touch the sides. Let hope it passes soon.

Still no bump....but def getting fatter. It looks like i have a big bump, but its all fat...eww. I'm not a big girl but it appears i have put on all the weight round my stomach, grr!! I hope i get a nice bump soon, as i actually look just fat!!

Hey fatty boom boom Wink

linz17xxx · 23/08/2010 21:53

Midwife appointment this wed. Saw my consultant on friday and didn't have excellent news. My thyroid antibodies are way too high so they have increased my medication however it could mean baby could have a cleft pallet or iq problems. They will know more at my 20 week scan in sept :( I also have to have a 28 week scan too and then back to see them on 3rd december. Fingers crossed everything is goin to be ok. Bit gutted 2day as I have found out the hospital where I will be giving birth doesn't have a birthing pool and I really wanted a water birth this time :(

ledkr · 23/08/2010 22:34

oh sorry Linz thats a worry for you.I have rasied anti bodies which after some poking at my mw i found out could mean baby has to have a transfusion possibly when still in me!!Dont even want to think about it to be honest and will not google,am having blood tests every 2 wks and they remain low so fingers crossed. Thought you may like to know u not the only one.

suzym1984 · 24/08/2010 09:10

Morning all!

Got my 16 week check today, and I am nervous now as some say they will take blood and others say they won't! I;m not good with veins and needles :(

Felt V V tired these past few days and am realy wondering how I will cope with being a full time teacher again in a few weeks time!

Linz that sounds like such a worry! Ledkr you give good advice about not googling, that is the worst thing to do and always convinces ppl of the worst!
I had also wanted a water birth but now have no idea if my hosp even has a pool- better get asking!

Have a lovely day ladies!

grigglepuff · 24/08/2010 09:14

Prof and ledkr , thanks - I hadn't really thought about it rationally like that of course my high levels would be accounted for in the percentage... i think it's just that panicky stage I'm at at the moment having made it to 12 weeks and now waiting until I can actually feel the baby moving so I know it's there! It's all very abstract at the moment and far to easy to worry!
Lesson learned - DO NOT GOOGLE HEALTH ISSUES! Grin

Linz hope you're ok. Ironic me saying this really given my excessive reading nito things but they said could which also means could not/ might not x

ledkr · 24/08/2010 09:37

Yes the whole experience is a worry. get to 12wks and start worrying about other stuff.
Am waiting for gp to call me I woke up with the most excruciating headache ever. Thought it was serious and started sobbing. Went to get tabs and puked on stairs. its slightly better now but I need something. Have to go back to work next week!
