Hi All

This is the new thread taking over from "Feb 2011... Where only us and a select few know"

So sad that not everyone will be joining us on the new thread but here's looking to the future and hoping we start to see some lovely scans and good news from everyone in the next month

OP posts:

ledkr I am not spotting any more but I did have cramps on Tuesday evening/Wednesday and also pain between my shoulder blades which I had when I MC BUT everything was fine at my scan - very different to my MC when it was obvious from the scan that all was not well.

I also had spotting with DS and all was well... (now 2yrs old)

How bad are the cramps? Like you want to take some painkillers?

How many days have you been spotting and has the flow increased?

If you are worried at all, go to your GP and they will book you in for an emergency scan and it will put your mind at ease. They might even do it today - if not then Monday.

sweetnitanitro · 30/07/2010 08:26

I still get the odd cramps now and again so I think it's normal, but if you are worried then you won't be bothering or wasting the GP's time or anything like that- go and get it checked out and then you can relax!

Just found out another of my friends is pregnant! It's an epidemic

ledkr · 30/07/2010 08:30

Pdr....you awake early too. Pain has gone overnight and no spotting yesterday...it has been slight and reducing and only brown. . Think the pain was from nt scan on wed cos went on ages and she pressed incredibly hard. I have had 3 c sections so scar prob took a bashing. baby was so active wed and Dr saw nothing wrong with the pg. I wish I could relax but took 4 yrs to conceive and I am 43 so is only chance for dh to have a child! not too much pressure then! are you going to fly while pg? Want to book my holiday but had moment of paranoia re flying!

PDR · 30/07/2010 08:42

ledkr I have a 2yr old so I am always awake early Got to take him to nursery in a min but back later.

Yes I am going to fly - we're going to Australia for 3 weeks in October :-) Flew all over the place when pg with DS and did not encounter any problems.... just make sure your travel insurance will cover you sufficiently. Where are you planning on going?

Glad spotting has gone

Who has been to the F.M. Centre in London? Are they good for scans?

ledkr · 30/07/2010 08:57

Pdr yes that's where I went wed. I can't say enough good things about them. Best money ever spent. loads of individual time spent results as you go so no frantic waiting for them. Hour long scan ...hence my pain! ...dvd to take home so brilliant. What do you want there? I had downs screening.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 30/07/2010 09:18

And I've been for a viability scan when I was pregnant with DD and am going for a NT scan in three weeks.

Deliaskis · 30/07/2010 10:30

Been to have more blood taken this morning and had two nurses and then a doctor rooting around in my arm for over half an hour trying to find a vein. To add insult to injury I have to pay to have these bloods done again as first set were too early so was paying for the priveledge.

I'm off for a week on Guide camp tomorrow ladies so you won't be hearing from me until the week after. Hope everytbody stays healthy, hope for good news for you cheese and lots of +ve vibes to everyone waiting for scans.

Dx

PDR · 30/07/2010 11:20

ledkr thinking of going there for my NT scan if the local hospital don't ring by next week.

Had an early scan at The Portland and I know it's very early to see much (9 weeks) but it felt a bit rushed. If I want to be rushed I can go to the NHS scan lol! Gave me a crappy picture - made no effort to get a good one really and I just felt a bit disappointed!

I am off to London at the end of next week as DS has his check up following recent op at the Portland. Is FMC on Harley Street? Can pop over there the morning after DS's check up as DH is coming with and we are staying overnight.

Just did grocery shopping and the lady on the till asked if I wanted to do "collect by car" rather than carry all the bags in my condition!!! I went bright red!!!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 30/07/2010 11:59

Yes, FMC is on Harley Street (no 137, at the Marylebone Road end). I'd give them a call -- just thinking you're due nine days ahead of me, and they are scanning me on 19 August, so you'd probably be looking at a scan date around 10 August ideally.

PDR · 30/07/2010 12:13

I am in London 12-14th so that might work... I think I will call them

JustOneMorePlease · 30/07/2010 12:19

Hi Ladies, Quick check-in... busy here with boys on school holidays and Dd1 crawling and pulling herself up, so into every thing!

Still thinking about knitter.

Thinking about cheese too. I have an appt on Monday at 10am for my CVS so am feeling anxious to say the least. This will be my third one so i know exactly what to expect. So fingers crossed please guys! x

Will update after, hopefully will get a phone call on Tues (if they can do the procedure) with the results.

When someone next updates the stats would you mind adding that i am in North Yorkshire, many thanks.

Must go 6 and 5 year old babysitting Dd1 in play room and all gone quiet....usually a sign that they are up to mischief.

xx take care all xx

angels1 · 30/07/2010 12:39

PDR I've had 2 private scans at 2 seperate places and also was suprised at how 'rushed' it was. I thought they'd be alot more time to 'watch' the baby but both times I think it must've taken less than 5 minutes of scanning. I was expecting much more tbh. All it was was 'here's your baby...there's the heartbeat...let's take a measurement...there you go all done'. Plus, I only got a photo from one scan - nothing from the other . One scan I must admit he did do 'extra's' like check how my ovaries looked to see if they were healthy etc... When people have had an NHS scan for dating I assume it's similar?? Not very long and quite rushed?? DH and I were quite quiet and enjoyed watching...maybe if we were a bit more gushing they would have let me see for longer...?? I agree that I did think you'd get lots of time spent when paying private - it seems odd that at one place I paid £90 for a 5 - 10 minute appointment but a 4D scan which you get a dvd for 1/2 hr footage using the same equipment at the same place costs £150...the cost doesn't quite seem proportionate.

justonemoreplease will be thinking of you on monday.

angels1 · 30/07/2010 12:56

PDR there are some positive comments on the FMC on this thread that popped up today

sweetnitanitro · 30/07/2010 16:59

Ugh, famous last words, I have been really sick today. No more tomato soup for me! Hope everyone else is feeling OK.

Good luck with your CVS justonemoreplease

CheeseChomper · 30/07/2010 17:07

justonemoreplease - Good luck with your CVS on Monday, i'm sure you'll be fine, but I know how worrying it is now!

Well ladies, got a call from Kings a couple of hours ago.... and all is okay!! Baby okay for Down's, Edward's, the other bad one and CF, so feel mightily relieved. Wish I could sink a bottle of wine now though, the stress has made me properly ill this week! Just hope baby is all okay from CVS now, but went to see midwife this afternoon for a check up and he seems fine, heartbeat clearly heard so fingers crossed!

Oh, and can comeone update the stats please- baby is definitely a boy!!

wigglesrock · 30/07/2010 17:18

Sam2302 · 30/07/2010 19:07

Hello ladies! Sorry not been on for ages as just moved to our new house and been busy unpacking and settling in! Just spent ages catching up on all the old posts and its sad to see some people have left us.

All this talk of scans is making me really nervous. Am about 12w now and have my scan on Thurs next week but feeling more and more anxious as it's getting closer. Have had no symptoms other than sore boobs and a bit of tiredness which has been better over the last couple of weeks. Waistline has also been steadily expanding so I keep telling myself that things will be fine but there is always the 'what if'... DH is being very positive and thinks everything will be just peachy but what does he know eh!

Anyway, have been craving tinned tomato soup too and bought a multi pack the other day. How weird that some of you have also mentioned the same cravings in your posts! Have completely gone off quavers though which I used to love before! Devo'd!

Someone mentioned flying before (sorry can't remember who!). Have just booked a few days in Dublin to celebrate hubby's 30th. SO can't wait!

Hope you all have a nice night.

xx

ledkr · 30/07/2010 19:13

cheese chomper i am thrilled for you all. What a few days eh?You must feel as if you have won the lottery. You will now have the most worry free pregnancy ever and you deserve it love well done you handled it all amazingly and were an inspiration to the rest of us.
PDR fmc was incredible. Lots of time even took 20 min dvd for our dd as we had forgotten to ask first. Results as we went along so no worrying waiting even blood tests input to the machine as i still led on the bed.Best £150 ever spent.
Tummy ache went overnight am sure it was the scan that caused it all that pressing for hours.
cler sorry forgot to answer you she said it was too early to tell sex but then bit later said oh i can see i think it is a little girl. I am not counting on it tho cos is very early. It kind of makes the whole thing more exciting than not knowing at all.

PDR · 30/07/2010 19:33

Oooo so exciting to find out the sex! I can't wait to find out what we're having!!!!

smallblackflowers · 30/07/2010 19:51

cheesechomper so pleased about your good news

ledkr glad to hear your pains have settled down too.

I would like to find out the sex at our 20 week scan but DH isn't sure. We found out last time and his parents weren't pleased - we didn't tell them though (their wishes). Ever since they have known we are expecting again MIL has been asking if we are going to find out the sex, we are answering that we haven't decided yet, but know that she's only asking so that she can tell us not to find out. This is really irritating me. She phoned me an hour before leaving for the 12 week scan on some pretence and then ended the call with an 'will you find out the sex today then?' my reply was a 'don't be silly its far too early' whilst inwardly clawing my eyes out. Hormones probably but as you can see this is really doing my head in! Rant over

tadjennyp · 30/07/2010 20:49

That's great news cheesechomper!
What does it have to do with your ILs flowers? As long as you don't tell them, what difference does it make?
I am feeling really tired and hungry again today, hoping for some respite soon.

moonminmama · 30/07/2010 21:01

Hi all, glad to hear there has been good news we have our scan on Tuesday and I'll be 14 weeks. Although the logical part of me knows it's too early to tell the sex the rest of me is thinking pleeeeaaase be able to tell. We didn't find out with ds but said all along we would with our second. I'm soooo excited. I am optimistic regarding the heth of the baby. I try not to think any other way. Luckily ther has been no reason to. The amont of people that have tried to be reassuring telling me that the sickness is a sign of a healthy pregnant has made me think I must have the worlds hethiest baby !!

Once again really glad there has been plenty of good news
