Yo December 2010 ladies, here we go - the mid-point of our pregnancies...and beyond!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lavitabellissima · 05/08/2010 20:59

Maxpower & Cheryl I know what you both mean about avoiding dates. My date date is the day my DP's dad passed away, which really upset him at first. I sid he should take it as a sign that his dad is watching over us all.

at Chloesbaby's dream, scary! I had one where my twins were born, and I kept saying "their definitely not mine, take them back !

Thanks Notso about the heartburn, it's the acid reflux that's the worst. I have tried everything, Rennie don't work, Tesco own brand not bad, but Gaviscon is the best and is free on presciption! first thing I've had free in years!

Lavitabellissima · 05/08/2010 21:02

That should read due date

bakingkeepsmesane · 05/08/2010 22:40

Am I in good company finding it hard to do regular pelvic floor excercises? Does anyone have any tips?

DuelingFanjo · 05/08/2010 23:13

I haven't done any yet. I should start probably!

MrsSnaplegs · 06/08/2010 04:51

am really tired but awake, awake worrying about an issue at work Hmm
pjen i wouldn't let the voucher date make you feel pressurised - these things come along very regularly and there will be more sales before xmas, it is still only august Grin
qod welcome back
baking keepsmesane Blush nope not yet and really ought to
jobobpip08 glad you had a nice time in London - your best bit is my worst nightmare every week - I have a bit of a phobia of escalators - have even had CBT to help cope with it Blush

right must try to sleep!

93pjb · 06/08/2010 07:03

Hello, thank you for all the kind thoughts - it's made me feel a lot better and after few days i think I'm getting things in perspective. My odds are actually quite good and I've been so thoroughly scanned and only one thing awry is probably pretty good going.

When dh is back next week I'm going to force myself to do some shopping for the baby and try to make it all seem a bit more real. Strix's suggestion of late amnio is definitely something to consider too.

Good luck with scans today.

Hope you get some more sleep over the weekend mrsSL.

MrsSnaplegs · 06/08/2010 08:26

Morning again - made it to work but couldn't be bothered to put my work clothes on as travelling home again at lunchtime after MW appt so am sat here in jeans and tshirt Wink

Can't believe I was so awake this morning then when the alarm went off I could have stayed there another month!

93pjb Glad you are feeling a bit better about the results, you must be really looking forward to your DH coming home!

wholelottalove yep I've got the crappy skin as wellGrin feels like being a teenager except i never had teenage spots! Can't remember if I had this last time - I guess it's the hormones Hmm

chloesbaby i guess you are going to QA - they were great the other week with us, the sonographers we had were Charlotte and Catherine (the first one was the trainee) and they were really lovely. The unit there looks really nice as well - all new and sparkly! I know that doesn't say anything about the care but first impressions and all that Grin
C&G I did remember after my post you had other LOs Blush I can understand your concerns with midwives attitude with a pregnancy history like that, you would think they would be more attentive!

maxpower glad you have staff as well - I used that phrase and now notso thinks I have a butler Grin

notso I have a training manager and a training deliverer who work directly for me then I have functional authority over 3 others (admin and quality control) and then work with another 3 as peers who all do training design - I then have 1 other "boss" over me although I would like his job when I come back off maternity leave as he wants to move on Grin

emmaxmas I have a comfy chair in my office for the afternoon naps!

good luck to anyone else with scans today and have fun those meeting up at the weekend, I'm not that far away when I am at home but it is a really awful journey to get there on the tube so don't think I will join you.

Have booked 2 days annual leave for Mon and Tues so I am going to enjoy 4 days off!! I will mostly be resting and testing out my new trike!

CherylAnnTweedy · 06/08/2010 09:54

C&G - hope all goes well for you today. Smile

MrsSL - glad I'm not the only one who hates escalators. I use stairs whenever possible, I have a irrational fear of being caught at the end and being sucked under! Hmm When I do use them I have to count myself down to get on it, run up or down it as fast as possible then wait while it flattens out and count myself off of it again. If I'm wearing jeans that come over the bottom of my trainers I have to hold them up to make sure they don't get caught. Grin

I weighed myself last night and I've put on..........1 stone, 6lb. I'm quite proud of that. Grin My belly is now 112cm (not too sure whqat that is in English!)

Pitterpatter2 · 06/08/2010 10:14

According to the nurse I am a "naughty girl" because I am still right near the bottom of the height/weight chart.

My BMI was always around 17 (5ft 7 and 50 kg)before the baby so what does she expect me to do. The weight I have gained is fine it is just the total weight that is too low!

MrsSnaplegs · 06/08/2010 10:18

cherylanntweedy - AAh you see I am the opposite - I have balance problems with my ME and have fallen down escalators (and stairs) quite frequently in the past. I have to either have someone stood behind me if I am going up or in front of me if I am going down them (can be a random stranger Grin) I get "jelly legs" almost like vertigo as soon as I step on so have to hold on with both hands - not so easy when DD is with me without DH but she has learnt very quickly Mummy is a freak Grin and she has to behave and stand still!

chloesbaby · 06/08/2010 11:01

I was right! It is a boy! Yes it was at QA MrsS
The songrapher was lovely. He is growing fine and all the bits are pieces are where they ought to be. I was surprised at how big he is now - the sonographer was scanning all over my belly from down low to up above my belly button. Still not much of a bump so I was almost surprised (stupid I know) at how big the baby is now.

Good luck for your scan C&G

The only one issue is a low placenta. It is near but not covering my placenta so I've got to have another scan at 34 wks. The sonographer said 80% of low placentas move out of the way on their own so hopefully there won't be any issues with a vaginal birth. Either way, it's good to be prepared.

Now I've got to start thinking of lots of boy names. I too liked Scarlett for a girl, but we'll have to keep that one on file Smile

chloesbaby · 06/08/2010 11:02

near my cervix, not near my placenta, I mean

Lavitabellissima · 06/08/2010 11:11

Congratulations Chloesbaby lovely news Smile

DuelingFanjo · 06/08/2010 11:22

Congratulations Chloesbaby out of interest could you see it was a boy yourself or did they have to tell you?

chloesbaby · 06/08/2010 11:51

Thank you! I couldn't see it was a boy at first, but I was at a funny angle to the screen. DH said after he was sure he could see a willy before the sonographer said it, but she scanned him from underneath and when it was pointed out I could clearly see the cross section of testicles and willy in the middle of the legs. Smile

Wholelottalove · 06/08/2010 12:01

Congrats chloesbaby on your scan news :)

My friend, who has two boys, took a look at my scan pics today and she is pretty sure it is a boy for us too. I like the fact it is still a surprise, but I think mentally I've gotten into a 'boy' frame of mind since the scan, so it will be a shocker if it turns out to be a girl, although a nice one. I didn't think I had a preference but now we think it is probably a boy I feel quite pleased so maybe I did. I know I'll be delighted with whatever sex when it gets to it though.

PJen · 06/08/2010 12:13

mumatron congrats on your princess! I was sure it is a boy too although I didn't have a preference since I see these repeating dreams of holding a baby boy and usually my dreams are accurate.

C&G what bras? I NEED them... I can't get a right bra to fit! I am in dire need of a good bra! Where did you go for fitting and which ones are they?

emmaxmas please do join us next time... so fun to get to know other people due in the same time. It is nice to put a face behind the screen names and get to know other expecting moms in real life. Who knows maybe we can go for a walk in the park when we are all home with LOs... :)

wholelottalove my skin= crappy too :(

Last night I went out with my girl friends, who are mostly still fit and single. They were surprised at my bump size and said I look like as if I have swollen a ball.. ha ha... Had tons of fun and it was good to not think/talk about pregnancy for a while. I missed the wine though... grrr...

CherylAnnTweedy so most likely you and your baby will be the same star sign! What are December babies like? I know men friends born in December and I do get along with them but never knew a december girl... What are you like? Grin
Chloe can't wait to hear about your scan.

I am in teleconferences today from 2 PM to 9 PM!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it? On Friday night!!!!!!! I am not happy about this! grrr

PJen · 06/08/2010 12:18

wow! Chloe I missed the last page totally before posting Hmm and missed your news before posting... CONGRATS!! Happy to see you are happy!!

WhatWillSantaBring · 06/08/2010 12:52

2pm till 9pm pjen that's outrageous! Why did you accept? I got invited on a call this afternoon that risked going beyond my hometime, and I just said "sorry, I'm unavailable". Sorry, but just because some people in the world are workaholics, it does not mean they should be able to inflict it upon us. Workers of the world unite - rise up against saddos with no life! Mind you, I can only say this from the comfort of my non-City based office. I left a while ago, took a 50% pay cut and therefore feel no guilt at all whatsoever about leaving when the clock strikes 5pm. I never had the balls to do that in the City!

chloe - congrats, that's great news. Interesting how clearly you can see the boys bits. I wonder if I'll be able to avoid peaking if its obvious - though I'd much rather my DH told me on the day.

Yep, my skin is crappy too. And i have a stinking cold which is the first one I have had since I discovered sudafed in 2001 - I'm miserable without it. (Curses whatever idiot scientist has not been able to prove pseudoephedrine is safe for foetueses).

I think C&G said she got her new boobs bras at bravissimo. That's where I went - they're fab in there, Pjen especially if you book a fitting (tell them you're pg). What style you get (and who makes them) depends on what you like and what feels comfortable. I'm now in Fauborg - lovely, softest bra I've ever owned.

C&G - was your court hearing today or next friday - got my fingers crossed whichever day it is. Scarlett is a lovely name, and if you ever read Gone with the Wind, you'll see just what a strong intelligent woman Scarlett is (don't judge her on the film, she comes across as far too weedy in that).

SpanishLady · 06/08/2010 12:59

Hi All,

I had my 20 week scan and whilst I have no idea what I am talking about nor could the sonographer tell us as not hospital policy but am pretty convinced I am having a boy.

Everything ok which is a relief as sadly my friend who was 5 weeks ahead of me found out at her scan that her baby had spina bifida and the baby wasnt going to make it - my sonographer was a little shocked that I burst into tears when she said she couldnt see any sign of Spina Bifida until my DH explained.

Am starting to get quite a bump and needing pillows to bolster me in bed!! Also he (or ok maybe she1) is a wriggler and I get to him rolls and punches through out the day and around 10pm at night especially.

have set 25 weeks as my next target as likethe comfort of the idea it might survive if it had to come at that stage but really I cant wait until december!!

CheeseandGherkins · 06/08/2010 13:22

I'll reply to other posts later did read though, congrats on your scan news Chloe and Spanishlady

My scan didn't go that well. They found that the baby has echogenic bowels, gave us a leaflet and then sat us in a room to wait for someone from fetal medicine to come and speak to us. We'd never heard of it before so didn't really know what to ask but quite shocked really.

She said there was evidence of blood in the amniotic fluid, and that it can mean that the baby has an infection, cystic fibrosis, down syndrome or it could turn out to be nothing. We have an appointment with a fetal medicine consultant on Monday at 3pm for a repeat scan by him and also to go through options apparently. If he finds the same then it triples the risk of downs syndrome I think they said. She mentioned amnios too but we're just really confused right now and will take the time this weekend to let things sink in.

We both had blood tests, mine to check for signs of infection and the both of us to see if we're carriers for CF.

DuelingFanjo · 06/08/2010 13:22

spanishlady I am getting regular movements around 10 pm too. I think the baby likes the Big Brother theme tune Blush or on second thoughts maybe it's a protest against big brother!

Glad your scan went well, is the hospital policy not to tell becuase they have got it wrong in the past?

I am thinking that if boy bits really are that obvious then I am pretty much convinced that is what we must be having but like WWSB I am looking forward to knowing on the day.

Just saw my mum for lunch and she says my bump is big but neat and I don't look like I have put on extra weight elsewhere. Then saw a work mate who asked me if I was sure it wasn't twins Grin

maxpower · 06/08/2010 13:26

LOL MrsS if my DH saw that he'd argue that he is my domestic staff Grin

Lavitabellissima · 06/08/2010 14:35

C&G Sending you a big unmumsnet hug!

I hope the consultant on Monday has better news for you, but remember at this stage they are just investigating, nothing is clear. As they've said it could be nothing, or something minor.

I know other posters with more experience of amnio will come on soon and give you a bit more infomation that I hope helps. I just wanted to know that my thoughts are with you.

PJen · 06/08/2010 14:49

Oh no dear CheeseandGherkins... :( so sad for you and hope really that the baby comes out clean on Monday and nothing is wrong... I send you hugs through the net and it is aweful that they tell you before weekend, when you can't do anything and all you can do is to worry...
