Sorry to burst your balloon Rodeo but I cheat. I make the chilli from scratch but buy Tesco finest cheese scones for the top. Them pile on some extra cheese for good measure. Have to make sure I put plenty of veggies in the chilli to compensate for the cheese though!!!

Enthusia · 06/09/2005 17:26

Rodeo - wonder if I was your dd's teacher!

The park sounds really good, what a nice way to end the summer, I expect they won't want to go back now.

novadandypowder · 06/09/2005 17:30

Rodeo, very of your 5 weeks, although I've got just over 8 to go (theoretically) so counting down..

Chacha, we're only fostering the kitten so it already has a name, but it's not a very good one. It's called Spitz, which is quite apt really given that it hisses at you if you try to get too close.

Enthusia, that measurement sounds fine to me, don't they allow 1-2 cms either side anyway? esp. if you're not quite 31 wks yet.

Think the best position is head down and limbs to the left, but as long as limbs are to the side and not the front I don't think there's much to worry about.

We always make our own cards and invites, DH is very creative. I've come up with an idea for the birth announcement card, but DH will have to put it into action.

I've discovered I'm not very good at knitting but I have 2 1/2 wks to practice before I go on the knitting for beginners course, so I'll just have to get clacking in front of the TV. I kept adding stitches somehow and twisting my stitches???

No stretch marks either (yet - my mother was covered in them, although my nan had none) but the scar i have from my belly button stud isn't very attractive as it's stretched.

I've ordered my hospital bag (samsonite £29.95 but with 10% discount through MN), and I've been shopping for contents, inspired by a mag that I've bought this month. I've bought some oils and sprays from neals yard remedies, some travel sized toiletries from the body shop, and black nighties from M&S. My friend has given me loads of pads that she had left over, but I think the hospital supplies me with them and disposable pants for the few days i'm in there. I don't need to take anything for the baby except going home outfit as the hospital supplies all that.

rodeo1 · 06/09/2005 17:33

You know I think you were my dd's teacher! Well it would have been you or Chacha!!

The children are still out in the garden making the most of it but I have been stating all day that this is there very last day off and they have to be in bed by 7, asleep by half past!

The chilli still sounds gorge! Never thought of doing that, I'm going to try and remember it for next week's dinners! Do you serve it with rice as well or is that too much? Dp would eat it all anywat though! So you make the chilli on the hob, then do you pop it in the oven with the scones and cheese on the top? Sorry, just want to make sure I'll be getting it right!!

I will leave you alone soon honest

oh, and I agree with Pinkminx, I feel much prettier now than at any other time so far. Think it must be because bump is very defined now and it doesn't look like I've just eaten too mnay cream cakes.

BEKsmum · 06/09/2005 17:41

Afternoon girls, just had a lovely afternoon with a friend who've i've known since teen years. Our boys are the same age so play well together so we actually got to chat for a change.

LilJ are you alright sweetheart? have the pains stopped? Braxton Hicks makes the bump go tight and your belly feel pretty hard. Can only suggest a warm bath and lots of rest really, it should only be the ligaments stretching but if you are still uncomforatble give the mw a ring she'll be able to reassure you.

Rodeo, great news for Bella she must be really pleased as must you. Five weeks to go bloody hell how close is that - were you early with any of the others?

Right better go and speak to dh who has come in and put the dinner on - slack wife that I am, speak to youall tomorrow. Beks (30+2)

Enthusia · 06/09/2005 17:43

Rodeo - yeah I get some mince and then throw in various things I find such as a tin of chopped toms, some sundried toms, some tinned mixed veg, a little tin of kidney beans, some tomato ketchup (always makes it taste creamier and richer) any other veggies etc that I have lying around and some chilli paste stuff. Then I transfer the mixture into individual serving bowls, dishes etc - mine are rectangular so I cut the scones in half and place each half, cut side down, on top of the chilli then cover with a mixture of grated cheddar and mozzerella. Then shove in oven for about half an hour or so. Then eat with a fork in front of tv (v.romantic I know!). I find its a great dinner for when DH gets in as I can just prepare it early and stick it in the oven when he gets in! It is quite filling so I don't tend to do rice - mind you we do have a pudding as well .

Enthusia · 06/09/2005 17:46

Nova - v.jealous of your lack of stretch marks. My mum has loads and I already had some from puberty - so knew I was never going to escape. Thank god I am apparently small - what would I look like if I was huge???!!!!

I do feel prettier though - think this is helped by the fact I feel well and am v.positive at the mo.

rodeo1 · 06/09/2005 18:08

Thanks Enthusia Yum!

saw m/w today, everything normal, blood pressure has changed from being 120/60 to 110/70, got keytones in my urine again, probably due to the sickness. she actually measured my fundal height today-1st time this pg! and am measuring 31+ which she was suprised about as she said i didnt look that high(i feel that high and it feels like its always right under my ribs)

Ds is driving me bonkers today, it started when he woke up and i went in to find he'd tore down his border along one wall in his room-i wasnt too naffed off as i plan to redecorate it soon as he has classic pooh still and i want to do a jungle room. Anyway, this afternoon i took him to the park(for 3hrs), and since then hes been devil child, to the point i had to lock myself in the kitchen for 10 mins in case i lost control whilst he was screaming the house down. anyhow, i put him to bed a 6pm, which is an hr early but i couldnt stand him any longer and i think he was knackered.

rodeo-is that how long you've got left 5 wks? jees im dead 10 weeks seems like a lifetime with how im feeling at the mo.

about the disposable knicks-the ones i bought last time(tescos) arent crinkly and dont make any sound, they are basically like tissue but thicker iyswim

ChaCha · 06/09/2005 19:01

Enthusia - Pie went well (if not a bit too puffy) but your chilli sounds delicious - what a great idea!

Nova - Wow! Is that the sampsonite weekend bag that you bought? If it is, that's exactly what i've been looking at and intend to buy - it looks great!

Busy - Imagine that your DS will wake in a better mood and give his mummy a massive cuddle. Must be hard when they are like that. Think you all do so well.

Time for desert - a packet of munchies i think!

babyonboard · 06/09/2005 19:48

Hi everyone..
had a fun few days as friends were visiting..so I didn't feel so lonely and cabin feverish.
Feeling very guilty today though..as i have eaten very badly!
started off well with muesli and bananas for brekfast..then had fish and chips for lunch, loads of ice cream and have just ordered a pizza as dp is out tonight..i have a serious fatty foods craving..teehee
ah well
all your ideas for announcement cards sound lovely..I hadn't thought about it, but am pleased as it gives me a new project to be doing.
i'm feeling seriously huge too...and also have avoided stretchmarks! ish..I have been using bio oil, and cocoa butter..but overlooked my legs and some angry red ones have appeared on the back of one knee..very strange place!wish dp hadn't pointed it out, as i'd never have noticed..hehe
best be off to stuff myself with bad food..hehe
take care

babyonboard · 06/09/2005 21:00

oooh..and any tips on how to cope with acid reflux?
I have been getting it almost constantly..and nothing works!
are there any foods that I should be avoiding to help, or do we just have to deal with such things?

novadandypowder · 06/09/2005 21:14

BoB, try posting on the pregnancy thread, but I think you'll only be told to avoid all the nice stuff like fizzy drinks, fatty foods etc.., don't eat too fast, that kind of thing.

Chacha, yes it is the samsonite weekend one, saw it in a mag this month and thought it looked ace, and we don't really have a suitable bag at home to have on standby. If you buy it through blooming marvellous on MN you get a 10% discount, although you then have to add P&P, but it's good if you want to get more than one thing from them.

ChaCha · 07/09/2005 10:00

Morning all,

Hiya Nova - great choice! I really like that bag too, it took me a while to find one that I really like and that has definitely got to be it. As sad as it may sound, I'm actually looking forward to preparing it! I love organising my bag.

Enthusia · 07/09/2005 10:07

Morning all

Great morning here again! Not too much on today so have to find myself some things so that I don't get bored!!!!

I am hoping to get my hospital bag and stuff tomorrow on a shopping trip to Cambridge. Don't think I'll be getting a samsonite bag though, probably go for something a little less snazzy!

Busy - I have bought some of the tesco disposadble knickers so far, they seem ok from what I can tell.

BoB - Sorry no heartburn or acidy stuff at all yet. Think someone mentioned a yoga position on here at some time though!!!!

Right think I'll have a quick look on ebay for some stuff then on with some jobs

Byyyeeee

KristinaM · 07/09/2005 10:15

Baby on board - I got this great stuff from my Gp for heartburn/ reflux. Its called Mucogel - it comes in 500ml bottles ( rather than the little ones of Gaviscon) and is much easier to swallow as its like toothpaste flavoured milk. And of couse we mums to be get it free!!! I can get the full name if you need it

KristinaM · 07/09/2005 10:16

Sorry , good monring Enthusia. Didnt mean to ignore you

Londoner · 07/09/2005 11:23

Hi everyone, it's so gorgeous outside here London, ah I do love the Autumn!

LilJ, sorry to hear you've been getting cramps, are they still going? I think Braxton Hicks vary in how they feel for different people, in the same way that labour itself is described so differently depending on the individual or just a different pregnancy.... er, that's not much help is it? Generally, internal feelings aside, if you put your hand on your abdomen at the same time as you feel what you term a cramp & your abdomen hardens, then it may indeed be a BH Contraction. I would definitely check with your midwife asap if pains are still occuring, they would want to know about it. My thinking is, there are enough things to worry about in life, if you can rule one thing out then do. Good luck.
pinkminx79, Hi yourself! Thanks for your post about the forms and about size, I'm glad to hear you're heartily enjoying the freedom of it, good going! Your positive thoughts on this are v. encouraging thank you. I can however relate to your lack of sleep experience, yes, me too, waking up with completely numb hip/dead leg etc, and sleeping very lightly, it's all very exciting really.
Enthusia, glad to hear your appt. went well, your fundal height isn't something they worry about unless it goes over 2cm like you say.... I'm always 'under height' and the midwife said on my last appt (measuring 27cm at 29 weeks) that 10 different midwives would probably give you 10 different measurements anyway and that she wasn't worried and that as long as you can feel babe moving about it's probably fine. She did book me in for 2 weeks time appt instead of 4 though because of this, but that's probably pretty standard at this stage anyhow isn't it? It's really good that yours said they'd send you for a scan if you were still coming up 'small' at your next appt. mine usually just like to worry me & then take no action, I usually end up reassuring them, this is the first time the midwife has reassured me! LOL.

OMG just seen the time & have to go for my Ante-Natal, back later!

Enthusia · 07/09/2005 11:52

Hey

My bedding from ebay has just arrived it is lovely and what a bargain. I got 2 cot sheets and 3 moses basket cellular blankets for £8.50. All brand new!!!!!

Kristina - don't mind you ignoring me!!!!

Londoner - Thanks for the size info - I think the comments I got from school plus the midwife made me a little concerened, but bubs is kicking for England!!!!

Speaking of that, Bubs hasn't actually stopped moving since yesterday evening. As far as I know he moved all night, He was kicking away when I went to sleep and each time I went to the loo he was there and at 4am I couldn't get to sleep there was so much going on. And he's still at it now, although not as vigorously as earlier. Is this normal?

novadandypowder · 07/09/2005 12:09

lol Enthusia, I bet you'll be on here in a few days worrying that little one isn't moving enough . I don't think we'll ever stop worrying about anything ever again! I have to stop myself getting over paranoid about movements, although I have been known to wake bump up just to satisfy myself that all's ok.

I love ordering online - the excitement of getting the package and ripping it open is such fun.

Chacha, I got some great travel sized products from the body shop and superdrug for my hospital bag, as we won't be in for that long (we hope), it saves packing full sized things. The mag that I read said about taking in lip gloss and powder to spruce yourself up for pics/visits, which at first I thought was silly, but it makes more sense now, so I've got some of that to put in too.

twinkle1 · 07/09/2005 13:15

afternoon all,
Well i just found a great buy in asda. I was going to buy some paper knickers, but it was cheaper to buy 3 pair of value "real cotton" knickers only a pound dont feel bad throwing them away if they are that cheap!!!! plus they are so much more comfy than paper.Well enough of my bargains, since the kids went to school yeaterday the house is soooo quiet. It is really weird is anyone else finding this??? mind you in 8 weeks it will all change
Only about 4 weeks till maternity leave starts yeahhhh im finding work really tiring at the min.
well must go and clean the kitchen

ChaCha · 07/09/2005 13:27

What a fab idea Nova! Never would have thought of that. I have been looking online for some special treats, in particular, Neals Yard 'Mother to Be' Gift box but it doesn't really take my fancy. I think we should all post our hospital bag lists so that we can compare, remember, everything you say and do WILL be taken down and used as evidence

Enthusia - You ebay addict!! LOL. Sounds like you have been getting some fab bargains. I have made a few bids on some organic baby toiletries and am pleased to say got them for as little as £1.75 - that's a whole gift set so don't mind paying the few pounds P&P - still a bargain. Also don't mind splashing out on good bag, toiletries etc. when i know i've saved elsewhere, at least, that's what i tell myself.

Enthusia - I have a 3rd trimester calendar on my fridge that says you will feel the baby move a lot now (at 30weeks) as she is much stronger and still has good room to move.

Having a lazy but nice day, I so missed this when i was working. Burning some musk, CD on, and hoping to relax with a book. Ahh..the simple life.

ChaCha · 07/09/2005 13:30

Twinkle, we must have been typing around the same time, didn't see your post until now.
Can't imagine what it's like to have kids full stop let alone an empty house when they return from holidays but at least you can have a little 'me' time before your new arrival. How's everything anyway?
You are a day ahead of me 28+5

Enthusia · 07/09/2005 13:56

Thanks ChaCha for the movement info - although Nova you're probably right I will be worrying about lack of movement soon!

I think I have decided to go for three hospital bags instead of one - hence not getting one glitzy one. I love being organised (out comes Monica) so thought I'd have one bag for Labour, one for me after the birth and one for baby after the birth. That way, I am hoping things will be easy to find!!!!!!

Am looking forward to my shopping trip tomorrow as I have found part of Cambridge I didn't find lat time I did my marathon shopping day. This bit has a TK Maxx, Babies our us and an Asda, what a great place for bargians. Well I hope so anyway.
