Pinkminx, have just been reading threads in the maternity unit where i worked they would def ask you to remove any labial/clitoral piercings, as they are a health and saftey risk to midwife (can put holes in gloves) and as you stretch they can rip holes in you sorry if thats too much info.... hope that helps
Xenea many congrats hope all go,s well keep us informed.

Morning girls, HAPPY B'DAY CHACHA, welcome to the 30's club!!! Hope you enjoy your scan tomorrow.

Didn't manage to get to Brighton yesterday as all roads to the coast seemed to be at a standstill even though we tried getting to Brighton, Hastings & Rye!!! Ended up driving round in circles for ages and having lunch at a nice restuarant called High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells, child friendly to a point and lots of space for the kids to run around and there is a steam railway that runs past the gardens so the kids get to wave to the train every half hour or so!

Tessa congratulations on getting Tessa's piccie in the book, how lovely, you're definitely entitled to proud mummy status - well done you.

Pinkminx would definitely recommend you take out your piercing before you get to the hospital or they will take it out for you!
Can remember my sil having her belly ring in at 8mths and then getting my dh (her brother) to get it out with a pair of pliers - not a prety sight so wouldn't want to imagine getting any others out at a later date!!!

Nova, glad the bite is ok, giving birth is definiely going to be an alternative b'day experience but by the sound of it you're not frightened of a challenge are you!

Bob that sounds like the bus ride from hell, good on you for being bump protective, if you aren't no one else will be. Glad you had a good time during the carnival though.

Cads what you said about not being so protective 2nd time round is so true, Ben's the same as your little one always jumping on me, sitting or leaning on me, but you just can't stop them from behaving as they always have can you!

Busy glad the wedding went well & that you got a result with the hotel fees, always a bonus! Now you can relax and concentrate on you and bump for a while.

Enjoy the meet up girls, afraid I can't join you as Ben is at pre-school on a Friday afternoon, but hope you guys have fun.

Right better go after this super long post, hope anyone I've missed is doing ok and I'll speak to you all later Beks (29+4)

BEKsmum · 01/09/2005 10:19

Twinkle, sorry was typing at the same time as you, sorryto hear about your hospital trip, glad to hear you're feeling a bit better now though.

ChaCha · 01/09/2005 10:31

Good morning all,

Thanks for the b'day messages

Twinkle, so sorry to hear that you've been in hospital and hope that everything is okay now. We had thunderstorms here as well last night - I sat at the window for ages just watching the sky. My friend's DD would have hid under the sofa if she could - are most kids frightened of the thunder? I remember as a child being told that it was just God moving his furniture or that he was upset..it used to scare the living daylights out of me! Silly adults.

Hope you guys have a lovely time on Friday, I think it's only fair that one of you takes a pic and posts it for those of us who can't make it to see. Deal?

Well, will be off ... until later girls xx

novadandypowder · 01/09/2005 10:41

Happy Birthday Chacha !!!!

The 9th is good for me and I love wagamammas so it's win win. I'll be wearing a pink carnation...

Tessasmum, will keep a look out for any articles, all the baby mags are due out around now so they might have covered it.

Had my first antenatal class last night, and quite tragically I knew the answer to every question, as did DH as I've been teaching him well. There are 8 couples in total, all due within 3wks of each other, so it was good for a bit of bump comparison. We all looked pretty much the same size though. I can't believe how much people don't know - I know thats what the classes are for, but really, it's like they haven't read anything. They covered buying basics for the baby and asked if anyone had got anything already...

nova: (only one to put up hand)
teacher: and what have you got?
nova: everything
teacher: is there anything you haven't got?
DH: yeah - a baby

Very funny. They got us all to write down our contact details on a piece of paper that they then photocopied and gave out to everyone, which i thought was a bit forward. I was the only one to put my email, everyone else gave their mobile number, which again i thought was odd. Maybe I'm just used to people in London keeping themselves to themselves. There's an american couple who live really close to us, so we may eventually end up going to the same mother and baby classes.

tex111 · 01/09/2005 10:49

Twinkle, sorry to hear about your hospital stay. Is that pain along an old cesarean scar? I've been having some burning pains along mine that were freaking me out. I spoke to the mmidwife yesterday and she said it was all normal. Glad you're feeling better.

Chacha, happy birthday! The big 3-0. I remember mine well. Had a lovely day and then spent the following day in bed crying my eyes out because I wanted to be pregnant. You don't have that to worry about though! :-)

Tessa, that's so cool about the book. What a lovely thing for Tessa to have later in life too. We did signing with Tobes and it was great. In our case it seemed to speed up his talking. We would always say the word with the sign so it was a verbal exercise too. Will definitely do it again this time.

Wagamama's sounds great. Tobes loves their noodles and they're really child friendly so he'll hopefully be entertained so I can chat. Cads, hope you can make it.

Beks, glad you're back!

Busy day today. Going into Blackheath to do measurements in the flat and visit Toby's new school. I've also got to chase the solicitor today. She just came back from hols but seems to think that she's still on vacation. Supposed to exchange tomorrow but I don't think that's going to happen.

CADS · 02/09/2005 09:26

Hi guys

Another beautiful day. I'm going to sit in the garden ad read this morning, while ds is at nursery.

Unfortunately, dh can't get the day off next friday, so I don't think I'll be meeting up with you guys. I will let you know if things change, going to try an alternative solution or if I'm very very brave I might bring ds with me (will see how I feel). Goldie, I will let you know if things change.

Nothing else to report really. Starting to feel a little bit tired in the evenings. Hope my 2nd trimester energy hasn't run out already. I was hoping it would last until mid 3rd trimester, at least.

Had to get dh to shave my legs last night, don't trust him though will have to get some hair removal cream instead. Definitely, NOT letting him near my lady garden although he insists he will do a GOOD job. Would most probably laid up completely bald.

goldenoldie · 02/09/2005 09:45

PS - I've posted the invitation to the December thread ladies too.

pinkminx79 · 02/09/2005 09:45

oh my!

I tried to shave my legs the other day in the bath, missed loads haha! Might get dp to have a go next time, but he'll probably laugh at me.

He was in hospital a couple of weeks getting his appendix out so we have both been hobbling round like an elderly couple holding our tummies!!

xx

ChaCha · 02/09/2005 10:09

Morning all

Cads - I had to go through the same ordeal a few evening ago. Am used to using a sugar wax but opted for a bladeless kit for the sheer convenience of being able to manage it myself. My aid of course was a mirror! Can't see anything anymore.
As for pressies Cads, DH is taking me for a 4D scan this afternoon and then we're all going out for a meal. That's perfect for me. My mum sent me lots of baby things for my b'day - I guess i should get used to that one! Was rummaging through the box muttering 'Where's my pressie?'
Other than that the usual cards, a few gifts and some money from others.
After DH cooked us a meal I crashed! I was in bed at 10pm!!! I didn't sleep well throughout the night, I had terrible back/hip pain, wind and insomnia...lovely eh?
I had to laugh out loud though, DH was reminding me of the first year of marriage and how I used to wake up before him to go and brush my hair, apply some mascara/gloss, brush my teeth and go back to bed as if i'd woken that way....oh how times have changed!!!! The only thing he wakes up to now is me drooling over my grobag...

Very excited about today's scan! Might post some pics if everything is okay as Nova did and hope that everyone is well, happy and tired like me, lol. Peace xx
