Hi MNers,

Thanks for tipping me off about the message limit on my other thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2725008-Would-any-MNers-be-able-to-help-tonight?pg=1&order=

I am stunned and unbelievably humbled to see that one little post I wrote sparked 1000 messages, and Im so appreciative of all you personal stories and jokes to cheer me up.

MN is offically amazing and you're all fantastic.

DM had a rough night, she apparently woke in the night with a bad headache which I think confirmed the disease has moved into her head (we expected this, apparently what's causing the paralysis often appears in the brain too). Still no appetite and sleeping all the time.

Sad

Hope everyone had a good night. I had yet more nightmares - theyre all about Mum and they all horrible. Shouty I is in fine voice this morning. Dad said he heard Shouty I bellowing to Shouty II to shut up the other day. Pot, meet kettle Hmm

Morning lemon
Yes to T. rex , also Donny Osmond or David Cassidy? It was de rigeur at my school to be in love with one or the other.

boo2410 · 26/09/2016 07:29

Hi Lemon, just popping in. Hope you had a bit of sleep. Thinking of you all. Flowers

Allatseainthemidlands · 26/09/2016 07:50

Hi lemon Beatles? Not very disco but might be happy childhood/teen memories...
I hope the blanket appears soon. Will you be able to rest at all this morning? Sounds as though you've had a long night.
I washed the altar cloth in a fit of enthusiasm last night and hung it up to dry only to find this morning that it had fallen off the airer with one end in my mop and bucket Hmm
I blame the dogs. Starting again...
Praying for peace for you and all your family today- and a big hug.ChocolateFlowers

Morning Lemon
I think I must have been born under wrong year - I like most of the groups on the lists.
Have a good day

maybethedayafter · 26/09/2016 07:58

How about a bit of Candi Staton? Have you tried looking for a 70s disco playlist on Spotify? I hope you're getting some sleep now.

lemonzest123 · 26/09/2016 08:09

Thanks all for your lovely updates and prayers. DM didn't move all night (alright she paralysed but you know what I mean), then at 6am she suddenly wakes seeming quite bright - I think because her fav nurse with the lovely Nigerian accent came in. Am I alone in loving that accent? Its gorgeous.

Fuzzy blank is still AWOL, I felt so bad telling the nurse but she was lovely and said she'll keep looking. As I'm now officially nocturnal I think I'll do another night tonight then go to my flat tomorrow morn to sleep and liberate my beloved buns from their litter box squalor. By which point DDDP will arrive in London and will be there to wake me and scoop me up in his big strong arms.

I'm in bed at DFs now thank goodness, I look like I've been punched in both eyes.

I'm not sure why people we dont really know feel the need to buttonhole DF in the local shop at length about DM. I even went in for him to avoid this but someone was talking to him through the car window when I came out. Fair enough wanting a quick update but leave it at that Hmm Poor DF, he's going to have to do a lot of those (DM knows everybody). Just being in the shop was like the bloody people you may know section on Facebook.

Sleeping pill is down the hatch! Hope it works!

Morning - sounds like you managed to get through last night pretty well .
Well, hands up here - I was born in '55.
My favourites are mostly mentioned - big Don Maclean and Simon a& Garfunkel and James Taylor But I loved the Beatles , and The Stones - ( out at discos dancing to Brown Sugar brings back oh so many memories) but disco dancing, and singing along it has to be Tamla Motown , look for Motown Gold - the '70's

saffronwblue · 26/09/2016 09:19

Dusty Springfield, Carole King, janis Ian - I have lovely music going around in my head in tribute to you and your mum.

Threetoedsloth · 26/09/2016 10:18

I am sending out mental search waves for the one and only truly special blanket to remake an appearance, Lemon. I'm vintage 56 too (it's so very cruel, your DM is but a spring chicken) I am now humming away to the songs of my youth. I may even be doing a Gregory's Girl bop.Whilst I may not post daily, you're frequently in my thoughts . My hand is always available for a virtual hold - today, tomorrow and for as long as you need it.

Soupandasandwich · 26/09/2016 11:41

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but what about the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack? Great disco stuff and she would have been the age to enjoy it at the time. Flowers

boo2410 · 26/09/2016 12:37

Hi Lemon, hope you're in the land of nod! If you're having Saturday Night Fever then please can you have Grease too. And Bee Gees songs. Grease is one of my favourite films. Hope you feel a bit refreshed after your sleep. Flowers Flowers

boobyooby · 26/09/2016 13:06

Hi Lemon, hope you are currently asleep too .... probably dreaming of disco fever tunes :D Flowers

What about an audio book to listen too? Did your mum like an particular authors?

Allatseainthemidlands · 26/09/2016 18:46

Hi lemon I hope you've rested today and not feeling too exhausted. Praying for you and your mum, that tonight will be peaceful, whatever it brings, and that neither of you will feel frightened or alone Flowers

Wordsaremything · 26/09/2016 19:47

lemon , love, I hope you are sleeping soundly.

I've been so very moved by the way you speak about your darling Mum. It's as clear as crystal how special a person she has been , and how devoted you are to her.

This is a rare and precious thing, and the pain when she dies will be awful. But I rather think she has done an exceptional job - you're clearly a beautiful person and have a very loving and emotionally intelligent partner to support you.

Her dying is a huge, huge thing, but what she has given you is much bigger still, and it shines out from your post - the honesty, wry humour, and intelligence.

Her gifts to you.

Xxx

boo2410 · 26/09/2016 20:06

Hi Lemon, hope you've had a good sleep today and feel a little better. You are one amazing person and you are a true credit to your darling Mum. It is so clear from your posts how much you mean, and will always mean to each other. I'll pop back later. Take care. Flowers Flowers

lemonzest123 · 26/09/2016 21:45

Hi everyone,

Keeping mum company again tonight. I think its my forth night in a row and DP comes back.

She talked a little this morning and ate brekkie and lunch. I feel a little calmer this eve....I'm glad I said all I did yesterday and that she knew I was there.

Because I have stopped taking my pill throughout this experience I've got my first period in over a year. OMG its horrific!!!

OP posts:
Medicaltextbook · 26/09/2016 22:20

Hi Lemon
Sorry about the period - bad bad timing. Do you have painkillers? If you have a nice nurse could you confide in her ask for painkillers and try to borrow a hot water bottle if that helps you?

About to motivate myself out of bed to eat rather than whiling away the time playing solitaire. Will check in later. Flowers

boo2410 · 26/09/2016 22:25

Oh yuk Lemon, I feel for you. I used to have horrendous ones until I had chemo 6 years ago then they stopped never to return, result!! Glad your dear Mum ate today, and that you feel calmer. Are you having sounds playing tonight? Might drown out Shouty and the Coughies (sounds like a band!) If they start. Will check back later, take care. Flowers Flowers

Medicaltextbook · 26/09/2016 22:29

Hi - didn't realise I had changed username so I will be back but not as Medicaltextbook
More good wishes

SingaSong12 · 26/09/2016 23:45

Hi Lemon - hope you are having a peaceful night and your period isn't too bad.
Best wishes to you your DM and DF (and DP)

GingerbreadLatteToGo · 26/09/2016 23:49

I hope the noisy inmates shut up sleep peacefully tonight. Maybe ask the nice nurse if she can heavily sedate them all 😁

Silver lining re getting your period...you can be pretty sure that you're not pregnant 😁 You can keep 🍻🍷🍸

😴💤💤

lemonzest123 · 27/09/2016 00:07

Actually they're all behaving themselves tonight! I think its something to do with the temperature?? Seems to be more yelling when its hotter.

Am sipping a beer and being called stupid on the GP/booze thread.

You know when you should just leave a thread....but you don't.... Yeah I got that.

Night all, hope you all have lovely dreams.

Me and Mum and listening to a bit of George Michael :)

icklekid · 27/09/2016 00:35

Hi lemon walk away from beer thread knowing you are anything but stupid!!!
Are your periods painful or just heavy? Either way not really what you need right now!
Pleased that your feeling calmer you certainly sound it. Glad also shouty folks are behaving long may that continue!

I'm lying here wishing a) my 2 month old had gone longer than 2h between feeds- last few nights she'd done 4/5h for 1st feed not tonight but also b) worrying as have hospital appointment for her hips tomorrow. I'd ignored it and can't any longer...

Praying for a calm night and you get some sleep in the day. Bet you can't wait to see your dp Flowers

lemonzest123 · 27/09/2016 00:51

Hi little 4 m.o....what up with your hips and why are you keeping your poor DM up?

Yes, desperate to see him. Miss the ridiculously strong hugs!
