TERRIBLE NEWS FROM YORKIEGIRL

tillykins · 10/08/2006 03:25

Yorkiegirl has phoned me from holiday in Portugal; her husband Nigel has collapsed and died tonight.
She thinks it was a stroke or heart attack.
The authorities are trying to get hold of her parents - they are also in Portugal
Fortunately, neither of her DDs saw anything
I don't know much more than that but will post if I have anything else

This is terrible news, so sorry for your loss Yorkiegirl

We're thinking of doing something practical to help, a collection or similar, just to tide her over until things get settled
It would make sense to me that since Anna is a member of both MN and MO, that we do this as joint venture?

MO

How old was he? Had he been ill before or anything?

Not that that makes it any easier for her...what an awful awful shock

tillykins · 10/08/2006 08:51

40 I think

He had been feeling a bit unwell yesterday, thought he was getting a chest infection

I am very sorry to read this

Nanou1 · 10/08/2006 09:02

So so . no words expect tears at this tragedy... prayers to you and your little girls. you know we are here when you need to cry; scream; share your fond memories of your dh with us.... no ideas how you may feel but pls let us know if we can do anything - now or later... hugs to you and your daughters. a nice thought for your girls is that daddy could be any of those beautiful stars in the sky checking that you are all doing ok and saying he loves you all very much. could be a night ritual to help you all heal with your loss. hugs and prayers your way....

misdee · 10/08/2006 09:05

OMG, i dont know what to say. so so so sorry to hear about this YG, prayers, hugs and lots and lots of thoughts heading your way.

tillykins · 10/08/2006 09:06

Anna has gone to the police station now and is then going on to the British Consulate

There has to be a post-mortem by the Portugese authorities before he can come home, that will be today or tomorrow so at least they are not delaying

Foghorn - Mumsonline are starting a collection, I think we should do it as a joint MN and MO

I am very sorry to hear this and thinking of you and your DDs YorkieGirl .

Lottieru · 10/08/2006 09:07

i've spoken to anna. Nigel's postmortam will be either today or tomorrow and she is going to the consulate after going to the police station later to start the process of getting through the red tape to get him home.

Again, she seems very calm but said she has to be for the girls. Her mum and dad are there now.
