TERRIBLE NEWS FROM YORKIEGIRL

tillykins · 10/08/2006 03:25

Yorkiegirl has phoned me from holiday in Portugal; her husband Nigel has collapsed and died tonight.
She thinks it was a stroke or heart attack.
The authorities are trying to get hold of her parents - they are also in Portugal
Fortunately, neither of her DDs saw anything
I don't know much more than that but will post if I have anything else

OP posts:

YG, my heart goes out to you. This is so tragic and there are not any words that will make it better. Look after yourself, you will need to be strong in the coming months.

This awful thing happened to my husband's best friend, he was 49.

Our love and prayers go out to you and your girls. Take care.

Pindy X

cutting and pasting this message from Yorkiegirl:

We fly home on Sunday night. Nigel will be flown home later in the week. I am ok atm as I have to keep going. The girls are fine, both have cried for Daddy but I have managed to appease them so far.
Speak to you all when I get home.

RTKangaMummy · 12/08/2006 12:27

lucykate · 12/08/2006 12:29

what an awful thing to happen, love to you and your family, x.

pooka · 12/08/2006 12:39

So shocked and so sorry. The same happened to a friend of mine's dh when in spain about 15 years ago. Even worse- in those days kids went on parent's passports and her dds were on her husbands - endless red tape.

pooka · 12/08/2006 12:48

Sorry - not very eloquent - by even worse I meant as if it could have been any worse.
You sound so strong - I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

crazydazy · 12/08/2006 14:36

Oh no poor Yorkiegirl

Thinking you and your family xx

foundintranslation · 12/08/2006 17:20

poppyh · 12/08/2006 19:38

This is awful. It must've been such a shock to YG and family. Thinking of you.

marthamoo · 12/08/2006 19:49

Have just come back from the Lakes today so have only just seen this. YG, I can't begin to tell you how very sorry I am - my thoughts are with you at this dreadful time. Much love xxx

Marina · 12/08/2006 19:56

YG, you are still very much in my thoughts - in all our thoughts.

A former colleague lost her partner not long after their dd was born. She found this small support group really helpful:

WIDWODS
c/o 60 Rocks Park
Uckfield
East Sussex TN22 2AX
(01825) 765084 (evenings)
Small support group of young widows aiming to provide practical and emotional support for those who experience the loss of a partner. Please include a stamped addressed envelope.

This was a couple of years ago now so I hope the address is still current. WIDWODS don't have their own website.

Lots of love XXX

mumlove · 12/08/2006 20:02

YG - you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers and I hope that one day your happy memories will become more powerful than your sadness and grief.

sestius · 12/08/2006 21:03

rydercup · 12/08/2006 21:27
