What the hell is wrong with my baby?

DD2 (8.5 months) has always been a bloody difficult baby. Today she has reached a new low. She has been screamign at full pelt nearly all day. The only way I have been able to get her to nap is to put her in the cot and leave ehr to scream it out... any other intervention just makes things worse.

She has had a fever for the past few days and whilst unwell has been very drowsy and placid... now she's feeling better again she is just absolutely foul tempered.

I don't really know what to do with her to make her stop crying.

I have tried a sling - she naps for about 10 mins before waking up, but it's not practical anyway as I have DD1 to look after.

My dh and I are both second born children and we were the angel babies of the family... However both dh's sister and mine were awful firstborns so maybe I'm due an angel for my next

For some reason it hasn't quite put me off having another ...

Glad you both seem to have turned the corner Bodkin and thisisthelast. That means it is Meandmyjoe's turn next

Well Bella is now crawling everywhere getting into everything but she seems to now be frustrated at not being able to walk and gets so upset if I leave a room she goes into meltdown. She is also getting upset when she goes to bed now...I feel night times are definitely regressing. Heyho, next week might be different [hopeful emoticon]

xx

Bless you laksa, damn right it's my turn next, get to the back of the cue

Anyway, the health visitor has just left. Joe acted like the perfect little angel and babbled and laughed all the time she was here Even when I undressed him to get him weighed!!! I was sure that would result in a meltdown but no, h was lovely. So I said very little and said everything was great. Afterall, things aren't as bad as they were and she can't help anyway. One good thing though, she told me that they are currently setting up a mother and baby group in the local church which is just round the corner from me so I am deffinitely going to make the effort to go there.

Joe is very nearly crawling but is currently just pushing himself backwards with his arms so I am hoping he will finally learn how to go forwards very soon!

Sorry about the night time regression Laksa. Joe had this a couple of months ago and he ket getting up in the night and then waking up at 4:30am to start the day! It was awful as he'd slept through very early and I was completely heartbroken. I think it was something to do with separation anxiety and thankfully it passed after about 3 weeks. Hopefully she'll be back on track soon. He still has a meltdown if I leave the room during the day though but I think it's quite cute that he wants to be around me all the time! I even had to pee with him on my lap earlier but then of course he got annoyed that I was sat and not stood with him. Perhaps I will have to learn to pee standing up

Ah here's to another day with our grumpy lo's. Good luck!

Where has my grumpy lo gone??? I don't know and quite frankly as long as the miserable so and so doesn't come back, I dont care!!!

What a difference crawling properly has made. She still whinges, especially in the highchair but thankfully not during feeds now. Just afterwards if I try and leave her in there for a minute after the food is finished! Only had one crying session today, that was because she woke up from a nap and wasn't really ready to wake up.

I really hope you are all coping ok and please keep hoping that there will be light at the end of the tunnel. DD2 still doesn't like to sit on our laps for long and is constantly fidgeting but is very happy to sit and play on the floor and crawl about til her little heart is content. She even smiles more now. It's lovely.

Sadly, she got up 3 times last night but I think her teeth could be playing up a bit.

Good luck everyone!
