What do you think of Esmae as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

Horton - Did you add the Kloe-Maey? Now that is creative!

Erm, yes, I'm afraid so. I may have had wine last night.

BustleInYourHedgerow · 18/03/2010 11:00

ShadeofViolet · 18/03/2010 11:15

I think it has alot to do with it actually!

littlemissm · 18/03/2010 11:27

What do the words hun & lol have to do with the title of the thread?

Eglu · 18/03/2010 11:44

I think Esme is a lovely name, and would pronounce it Es mee. I don't like the pronunciation Es may at all, however you spell it.

MmeLindt · 18/03/2010 11:55

My friend has an Esme, beautiful name.

Esmae is not good, sorry.

mopsyflopsy · 18/03/2010 12:01

Esmee is a French name, pronounced Es-mée

The problem is that without a very good French accent, an English person will pronounce it Es-may or Es-mee - but neither sound as nice as the correct Es-mée imo.

But if you want it pronounced Es-may (rhyming with dismay), then I guess you ought to spell it Esmay or Esmae.

PuppyMonkey · 18/03/2010 14:04

Oh, I do get tired of having this same argument on MN. Esme - me me me me me - is more of a Scottish name actually. . It isn't at all common in France in reality. And you definitely don't require a French accent for it.

I think I've broken MN today, what's going on???? sorry.

worriersis · 18/03/2010 14:18

Hmmm... telling someone who clearly can't spell that the name they have chosen makes it look like they can't spell.....

And even thought it was someone else (with an equally 'creative' way of spelling their child's name) - 'huni' is spelt honey.

Honestly - it's hard to take you seriously!

We know full well that Esmae is your choice, but the masses don't and it won't stop them from sniggering behind your back.

gemcgem · 18/03/2010 15:43

what a load of b*** ! i came on here to ask a about a name not get slagged off about my grammer!!!!!!! do you think you have free will to bully on here!!!!!!!

This has become a nasty little thread

Gem, ignore them. There is a difference between honest and downright rude - some of you should realise that.

CinderellaRach · 18/03/2010 15:55

Don't throw your toys out of the pram! You should thank us for correcting your spelling

littlemissm · 18/03/2010 15:57

gemcgem -really dont let it piss you off this is what it gets like on here as not all people are the same. People who name there kids unuasal names or change spellings get called chav ect ect dont rise to it Iv'e been slagged off on this thread for calling you huni & not honey( shortening words or abreviating is used alot in txt talk people) & to5dollershake my daughters name is not creative spelling but the girls varient for Bailey as found in some baby books. I think to comment on the way people spell things is very stuck up does it really matter you all know what the words mean. This thread is about a girls choice of name not about the way people choose to spell things

gemcgem · 18/03/2010 15:58

im well aware of my crap grammer!! i do no you spell esme not esmae but i like mae, so why comment on my other spelling?? i thought this was a nice place to meet other mums an have a chat ! guess not!

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 18/03/2010 15:59

Do you mean grammar?

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 18/03/2010 15:59

You need to put a space between all of the words in your sentences - before you start correcting anyone else
