When I began to read this thread I thought Fox was a bit odd as a name but now I have thought about it for a while, I think it is great, really different and very easy to spell when he is learning to write which is always a bonus

Sorry should've said, it's a boy

Alexander would go nicely with Fox!

ImPamDoove · 14/02/2026 00:06

We have dogs, so ‘poo’ or ‘shit’ goes after fox - ie ‘they’ve rolled in fox poo/shit again’.

TheGriffle · 14/02/2026 00:06

I quite like Fox Evan Joseph if she’s set on Fox.

Surely this is a joke and no one plans to give their child the name fox?….meet my child Shed Smith

My DD’s tiny village school (Less than 70
kids 4-11) has 2 boys called Fox. It’s quite popular!

@crimsonowl the 2 I know are Fox William and Fox Jacob Arthur.

TokenGinger · 14/02/2026 00:07

I know someone with a little boy called Fox. Whilst initially it seemed odd because I hadn’t heard it before, I actually really like it now and it suits him so well.

Fox Alexander is lovely, but it’d give the initials of FAJ which in my area, is an unfortunate reference for vagina.

Lots of lovely suggestions on here, though.

HelicoPie · 14/02/2026 00:07

Max or Lex?

Would your daughter consider having Fox as a middle name but still call him Fox and make it known that’s what he’ll be known as?
my dad and myself are both called by our middle names.

This is a good suggestion. I also go by my middle name as my family ended up using it more!

Or go with a more traditional name and nickname it to Fox e.g. Felix

I think with Joseph as a surname he is most likely going to have to correct people on not being Joseph Fox. So choosing a first name that is a common surname will be a bit annoying for him in the longrun.

Of all the suggestions, Alexander is the nicest middle name so far...except for what the initials would spell (FAJ)

saraclara · 14/02/2026 00:09

Has no-one pointed out to her that as he gets older, the vowel in his name is likely to get changed, either humourously or maliciously?

nunsflipflop · 14/02/2026 00:09

I know a Fox Ember

PinkiePipe · 14/02/2026 00:10

I actually really really like the name, and I'm not usually a fan of the zany.

I agree it needs to be a traditional middle name and Alexander as suggested above is perfect to me. I like the repeated use of the "x" sound, I like that it's a well known name but not dull, it's length balances the short first name. It fits. It sounds nice with Joseph too. And if the kid grows up and hates Fox, they have multiple options (Al, Alex, Xander).

Jesephone · 14/02/2026 00:12

I know a Fox, and like all slightly unusual names once you get used to it no one actually bats an eyelid.

Fox Jacob

I’m sorry but “Fox Cunt Joseph” is absolutely sending me 🤣🤣

I can't stop laughing either. 😂

ShesGotAPlan · 14/02/2026 00:16

It’s like some people hate their children and want them to have issues.

ChattyCatty25 · 14/02/2026 00:17

I can on here to say strong traditional middle name like Alexander but it’s already been suggested.

BernardButlersBra · 14/02/2026 00:18

Whoops, l forgot about Mulder

Survivedtheex13 · 14/02/2026 00:19

Fox Elliott has a nice ring to it.

When you meet your grandson you won’t really care what his name is.

Congratulations

shuggles · 14/02/2026 00:21

What about "Fox Alady"?

MayaPinion · 14/02/2026 00:22

WallaceinAnderland · 13/02/2026 23:22

I wouldn't go for Alexander because of the initials btw

This is a very good point.

MayaPinion · 14/02/2026 00:24

Classic Biscuit Selection.

ItstoolateformeDaveyourselves · 14/02/2026 00:29

Edited to say I have committed the cardinal sin of missing the last name in the OP! Apologies.

I agree that Fox Alexander is out there, but does sound good but Alexander Fox is better in my opinion.

Alexander can be shortened in so many ways, and Fox could be used as the "family" name? My aunt's and uncles were known by different names to their first names. My own dad is known to all his family by his middle name not his first name (his middle name was unusual of its age and still is).

OtterlyAstounding · 14/02/2026 00:30

I love Fox! Out of all the 'weird' names people use these days, that's actually a really lovely one. Easy to spell, easy to say, and nice connotations. Although personally I'd suggest making Fox his legal middle name, but his day-to-day 'prefers to be known as' name at school etc. But if your DD won't budge...

Then I like Fox Llewellyn Joseph as suggested by pp.

Also:

Fox Evan Joseph
Fox Alistair Joseph
Fox Taliesin Joseph
Fox Arthur Joseph

I seem to be leaning Welsh, I don't know why, haha.

2021x · 14/02/2026 00:31

Fox Mulder was in the X files but everone just knew him as Mulder so its not to bad.

Fox is fine-ish: not as bad as Apple which didn't really catch on in the end.

I think it would be better if she had a more "normal" name in the middle that he could use if he felt comfortable i.e. Fox Adam rather than Fox River Valley etc...

TeenLifeMum · 14/02/2026 00:31

I can’t understand why people are being so rude. Clearly not XFiles fans. I wanted William Fox but we had 3 girls. So I’d suggest similar to others - match it with a classic name with a few syllables:

Fox William Joseph
Fox Elliot Joseph
Fox Edward Joseph
