IamEarthymama · 13/02/2026 22:59

Im not usually a fan of “out there” names but I do like Fox!
As PP suggests a more traditional middle name perhaps?
I like Ellis, Rhys, Tomas or Dylan.
I’m Welsh as you can mo doubt guess!

crumpet · 13/02/2026 23:00

Fox Robert Joseph flows quite well

Funkylights · 13/02/2026 23:00

Bear Grylls is his nickname. He isn't actually called Bear I believe his name is actually Edward.

Ah ok I didn't know that but my point probably still stands...or maybe no one will dare tease him!
I am ancient and knew someone called Wolf growing up but maybe was Wolfgang?

Deadringer · 13/02/2026 23:01

I think it needs to be a long name so Fox Alexander works really well.

Enko · 13/02/2026 23:02

Fox Michael Joseph

Fox Isaac Joesph

Fox Landon Joseph

Fox Griffith Joeseph

Really?

Runningtowards · 13/02/2026 23:03

I meant hunt

MrsBadEnoch · 13/02/2026 23:04

I think the middle name needs to not be a traditional name.

GrethaGreen · 13/02/2026 23:05

I just find it so selfish to give children ridiculous names. Change your name to fox yourself if uou think it’s cool. Poor child.

2pence · 13/02/2026 23:06

Trot?

ThatMintMember · 13/02/2026 23:07

I agree a longer name in the middle works well. Breaks it up a bit as fox is so short.

Fox Sebastian Joseph
Fox Alexander Joseph
Fox Harrison Joseph

Also then he can use the middle name if he gets fed up of Fox. I always try and imagine them at different phases of their life when picking names. Can't imagine a CEO leading a meeting with a name like Fox though, perhaps something for your daughter to consider!

PhaseFour · 13/02/2026 23:07

Fox is a really great first name.
Fox Alexander - love it!
I know of a three year old called Fox.

Odditea · 13/02/2026 23:07

Michael J?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/02/2026 23:08

Glacier Mints?

2pence · 13/02/2026 23:09

How about Sylvester, then he can be a Sly Fox 🦊?

Chinsupmeloves · 13/02/2026 23:10

Erm so let me get this right....

The woman who is giving birth to her your child won't budge on the name Fox?

Ok, let's go with as real.

When the baby comes many parents change their view of a pre determined name so you could encourage this.

While I'm all for personal names, Fox unfortunately will no doubt envoke unwanted comments, including 'foxy' as a young girl.

There has to be compromise in relationships and naming your child is a huge one! Me and DH couldn't agree on our favourite names so chose completely different ones.

If real take the advice given. Xx

MarmaladeSandwichUnderMyHat · 13/02/2026 23:12

Congratulations on your baby grandson. Fox is lovely IMO.
My suggestions:
Fox Alexander
Fox James
Fox Henry
Fox Grayson
Fox Rune

EmeraldRoulette · 13/02/2026 23:13

Kimono?

No seriously... I agree it's best paired with a traditional name

I liked fox Alexander like someone said up thread

PurpleLovecats · 13/02/2026 23:13

I think a longer multi syllable name is best.

Alexander as mentioned is great.

Also

Barnaby
Benedict
Sebastian
Cameron
Timothy
Tobias
Samuel
Isiah
Jonathan
Maximillian
Nicholas
Oliver

Beesandhoney123 · 13/02/2026 23:13

Locksey? Will he have red hair?
Reynard is french for fox. Charlie is slang fox. Reynard Albert sounds cool to me.

It depends on the surname. But I think your dd needs to think carefully about teachers, strangers, baby group, doctors, other kids, mean kids, colleagues etc doing a double take, wtf written all over their faces, being teased and laughed at by the mean kids. I don't know, life is hard enough isn't it?

Twoshoesnewshoes · 13/02/2026 23:13

I like Fox as a name, and know of 2 primary age children with it (a girl and a boy)
I like Fox Alexander, or maybe something a bit in keeping with the nature theme-
Fox River
Fox Bracken
Fox Heath
