Other ones I've shortlisted are :
Ruth-Ann (after my gran)
Roxanne (after childhood bestie)
Skyla-Rose (love the name Rose)
Ariella (sounds very girly and pretty)

Thoughts?

I know someone that called her DD Daizzee-Meigh (I'm not kidding and that's going to be outing as she's got to be the only one😬!)
The "Meigh" was meant to sound as "May" and as for the spelling of Daisy..... Shame because they were a lovely family - grass roots working class but good people and I just thought , sadly you've revealed your child's class status before they've even walked in the interview room. I hope she changes her name!

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/10/2025 23:13

Alexandra with Lexi as a nickname .
Roseanne or Roseanna instead of Ruth-Ann.

spiderlight · 15/10/2025 23:16

I can only hear Ruth-Anne being shouted in a Deep South American drawl. Ruth is lovely, Anne is nice, but the hyphen ruins it. Ariella is pretty, and I like Skyla Rose without the hyphen. Again, the hyphen ruins it for me.

MrsApplepants · 15/10/2025 23:31

Sorry I don’t like any of the names, Lexi -Mae is the worst of them all. Sorry again!

PurpleChrayn · 15/10/2025 23:46

Lexi-Mae is the proto-chav name.

Objectrelations · 16/10/2025 00:03

All terrible in my opinion except plain Ruth or Anne or similar.

clarrylove · 16/10/2025 07:40

Rosanne would be nicer than Roxanne. And you could shorten to Rose or Rosie.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 16/10/2025 08:59

Lexi-Mae - Lexi and Mae are both naff, hyphens are naff, Mae as a middle name is meh.
Ruth-Ann - Ruth and Ann are both nice but not hyphenated, Ann meh as a middle name.
Roxanne - too associated with a song
Skyla-Rose - Skyla is naff. Rose as a middle name is meh. Most hyphenated names seem to be -Rose
Ariella - it's better than most of the others, but that's not saying much.

Inspired from your list, I like..

Arielle Skye
Alexandra Mae
Rose Ruth
Skye Rosanna

Firsttimebabymummy · 16/10/2025 14:06

Sorry I don't like any of them but I prefer classic names.

Rosanna? Or just Rose as a first name.
You might like Sylvie?
Imogen (immie)

Calliopespa · 16/10/2025 14:16

PurpleChrayn · 15/10/2025 23:46

Lexi-Mae is the proto-chav name.

I'm not sure that isn't the point. There has been a run of these threads lately.

WolfieMuma · 16/10/2025 14:35

Not sure if OP is coming back, but what about Alexandra, with Lexi as her nickname, and May or Mae as her middle name?

Far better than Lexi-Mae

Maeve is a nice name, too

SaffyWall · 16/10/2025 14:35

I have a child in Year 11 and went to a school meeting about mocks last night - also there were students with the following names with the May suffix;
Ellie-Mae
Ella-Mae
Evie-May
Evie-Mai
Ava-Mae
Amy-May
Lily-May
Kacie-Mae

(Also, Ava-Lily, Megan-Lily, Kacey-Leigh, Paige-Leigh and a whole host of other variations... )

I think whoever just suggested Alexandra May as a compromise was bang on the money!

WolfieMuma · 16/10/2025 14:37

Ooops, I had already suggested Alexandra May Blush

DuchessOfNarcissex · 16/10/2025 14:43

Ava-Lily, Megan-Lily, Paige-Leigh don't flow.

sanityisamyth · 16/10/2025 18:45

Hyphenated names are awful. Especially if they include Mae.

jill5676 · 16/10/2025 18:48

I like Ruth on its own, Ann could be a middle name instead of hyphenated? Roxanne ok too, though I prefer Roxanna. Not a fan of Lexi-Mae (or anything -Mae), sorry!

Firebird83 · 16/10/2025 21:46

Lexi-Mae is so chavvy and a bit dated. I actually know someone who named her DD Lexi Roxanne 😅

Gentlydoesit2 · 16/10/2025 21:48

Ariella is too close to Areola imo

MCF86 · 16/10/2025 21:49

SeaAndStars · 15/10/2025 19:39

Ariella/areola

I was beginning to think nobody was going to say it!

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 16/10/2025 22:04

Lexi-Mae is horrible imo.

Ruth-Ann (after my gran): better than Lexi-Mae

Roxanne (after childhood bestie): I quite like it…

Skyla-Rose (love the name Rose): Rose is gorgeous! I would use Rose as a first name (without the hyphen).

Ariella (sounds very girly and pretty): Ariella is nice. Do you like Arielle?

Crunchymum · 17/10/2025 14:08

Why not just use Rose if you love the name Rose?

Lexi-Mai sounds like a character from Eastenders.

Comeonbabylightmyfire · 17/10/2025 14:13

If you love Rose then use Rose.
Roxanne and Ariella are nice options.

Lexi- Mae and all the other double barrelled names are just awful. It’s a greggs name.

BCBird · 17/10/2025 18:38

Ruth Ann. No to Lexi- Mae

Samsonsund · 19/10/2025 21:39

Libellousness · 15/10/2025 21:09

I know several young Ariellas - they’re all Jewish. To me it’s a Jewish name, and I’d think it an odd choice for a non Jewish family.

It’s the feminised version of Ariel, which is a male name meaning ‘lion of God’ in Hebrew.

I thought this too,
personally I don’t like lexi because it sounds like it must be short for Alexa which has obviously been ruined by the device.

If you like rose and Roxanne what about Roseanne?

or just go for Ruth Ann because you’ll never regret choosing your grandmas name
