Baby girl names… peach?

I’m due in a few weeks with a baby girl and struggling to find a name. I’ve swapped it constantly throughout the months and just don’t like anything. I was recently set on Lena but have realised how common it actually is, which puts me off a little bit. I recently heard the name peach and absolutely love it but after reading a lot of forums people seem to think it’s silly? I know it doesn’t matter what other people think but I don’t know if it’s too out there?! Thoughts?

I actually know a Peach who is about 7 now.

I just immediately think of poor Peaches Geldof when I read your post. It has such horrible associations now as Peaches Geldof was so famous and her heroin overdose at age 25 was just so horrendously tragic.

I teach in a school, I hear lots of names and I must say, I’m not personally a fan of the name “Peach” … I think it would garner a lot of eye brow raising and “that poor child being lumbered with a name like that” kind of comments in the staff room. Not necessarily from me but as I say, I’m equally not a fan of it. I think it just doesn’t sound like a name for a human, maybe a new dating app? “Try Peach - for some Sweet introductions” or a lingerie range? “Reach for Peach - lingerie you will really love to squeeze into!”

I think it sounds silly and could embarrass your daughter.

I thought of the bum connotations. But I think if I was introduced to a toddler called peach I might think it was cute!

Lol what rubbish. I have the ‘Olivia’ name of my generation and have never been unemployed lol. Have been offered the job on the spot or same day several times.

Lena isn’t that popular in the uk, i can’t immediately find it on the top 100 lists, it’s Luna I can find. Lena is nice.

There are many happy mediums between Oliva and Peach.

I just asked my teenage daughter what she thought of peach for a name and she replied “why would anyone want to call their kid butt? That’s savage”

I think you’re forgetting how cruel kids at school are. I think calling your child Peach (bum emoji for a start) is just setting her up for a school time of bullying.
Give her a chance by giving her a name that isn’t a fruit/bum and then call her Peach as a pet name.

Peach crumble and custard comes to mind. Seriously though you're not doing a secondary aged girl any favours by calling her Peach. Give your head a wobble.

Yes maybe work on your word input in future, you come across very rude and vicious :)

Again I’m not sure why a peach has to be sexualised but that’s just me. A bum would never come to my mind.

I hope when you have children you find your happy medium

But it will come to lots of people's minds, as this thread shows. Better to make your decision with that knowledge rather than just telling people they're wrong.
