Good evening!

Opinions on the name Piper?
I am not sure on a middle name or anything as of yet but I’ve recently come across the name piper and I really like it.

What’s everyone’s brutally honest opinions on the name?

OP posts:

A few mediocre actresses were called Piper in the 80's

Slimbear · 18/03/2025 22:25

Not if you’re Scottish.

mummysmagicmedicine · 18/03/2025 22:26

I have met a few little girl Piper’s and they always suited their name very well but I still cannot imagine a corporate woman named Piper!

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 18/03/2025 22:28

I really like it,it's one of my favourite girls names.

Devianinc · 18/03/2025 22:32

I love it. There was and Olympic skier and I think her name was piper. It’s really different.

CountryQueen · 18/03/2025 22:33

I know one. Saw her running around with a sausage roll outside Greggs last week while her mum screeched “Pipes. Will you stand still?!”

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/03/2025 22:37

I know someone who has it as a nickname
He's a big bruiser of a guy, so I don't see it as a girls name.
A relative was a piper for a job (in the Scots Guards).

CavaInTheSun · 18/03/2025 22:43

There's a 5 year old one at my child's school. Sweet name and it suits her.

Never come across an adult Piper though, it does feel a bit more of a child's name if that makes sense?

Sazeracc · 18/03/2025 22:44

My DD is called Piper so obviously I love it as a name.

IMissSparkling · 18/03/2025 22:47

Not if you’re Scottish.

I know a Piper who is Scottish! Poor lassie.

Cctviswatchingme001 · 18/03/2025 22:54

My cat is called Piper.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/03/2025 22:58

Love it.

TabloidFootprints · 18/03/2025 23:01

Its fine. The first time I came across it was Piper Laurie, who was in Twin Peaks.

PurpleChrayn · 18/03/2025 23:05

Dreadful. I means fellatio in some languages.

hoteltango · 18/03/2025 23:06

Gillian Anderson named her daughter Piper Maru. Later, that name was used for an X-Files episode.

Enough4me · 18/03/2025 23:10

Pied or bagpipe player?
How about Phillipa and Piper as a nn, if she doesn't like it she has another name to use, or Pippa.

Gemini29 · 18/03/2025 23:36

I consider it quite American, it's nice though.

Piper was always my favourite witch :)

Ph3 · 18/03/2025 23:39

My girls name is Piper! Love it.

Giggorata · 19/03/2025 00:13

I don't like it at all. I haven't met any and have only seen people on American TV programmes who are called that.

Moveoverdarlin · 19/03/2025 00:17

Just reminds me of Orange is the new black.

shoopshoopdedoo · 19/03/2025 00:51

I don’t like it, personally

SnowFrogJelly · 19/03/2025 00:51

Slimbear · 18/03/2025 22:25

Not if you’re Scottish.

This made me laugh so much. (I’m Scottish.)

PippetyPoppetyPie · 19/03/2025 01:15

I have a Piper.

Everyone who asks her name says they love it.

She gets Pipes, Pipey or Pipsqueak usually.

ammamug · 19/03/2025 01:21

Sorry but I could never take that name seriously..maybe as a nickname ?
