Just wondering? I have always liked Tabitha, Martha, sebastian. I know an Arthur and Monty. What would you class as a posh name and also as an embarrasing name!

Candida
Malaky
Cordelia

LynetteScavo · 12/05/2008 22:35

Candida? Not the one I knew.

Cornelius.

LynetteScavo · 12/05/2008 22:36

Flavia.

Spidermama · 12/05/2008 22:37

Cornelius? Not the Corny I grew to know and love. He was a scally.

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/05/2008 22:38

Tuppy is so adorable but is it a real name?

NumptyMum · 12/05/2008 22:41

How did Muhammad Ali get to be a posh boy? He started out as a Cassius, didn't he?

Surely no-one would call their child Calpurnia?! Though if shorted to Nia it would be OK... But sounds too medicinal, like Calpol.

Same goes for Malaky, sounds too like malarky...

Spidermama · 12/05/2008 22:44

Jeanie is a crusty old nick name, I knew of one growing up, quite the opposite of posh imo. Jean is better, at least it is a proper name.

Imogen and Jemima are nice but no longer the preserve of the posh.

Boys' names ending in o are posh
Milo
Hugo
Ivo
Rollo
etc

Also Evelyn for a boy
and Dorian

Anything from the Greek myths (Persephone, Cyclops, Medusa etc)

Anything from classic literatire so long as it is fairly obscure
