Just wondering? I have always liked Tabitha, Martha, sebastian. I know an Arthur and Monty. What would you class as a posh name and also as an embarrasing name!

nah, Thea is just Gorgeous!

LynetteScavo · 12/05/2008 18:32

Thea is a georgous name, but my DC's would say Fea!

Peregrine (sp?)is posh, as is Hermione.

strawberriesandcream01 · 12/05/2008 20:25

It's funny to read what people calss as a 'posh' name and what is not! Jemima and Imogen are quite popular around here. Where do some people get some of these names from?

How about Pandora and Jeanie (or Genie?) Bertie?

swampster · 12/05/2008 21:44

Twinkie1, I think Raiff/Rafe is spelled Ralph when you are posh. And Ralph is pronounced Ralf when you're not.

swampster · 12/05/2008 21:48

There is a Ptolemy Dean who is an architect/TV bod who has an artist sister called Tacita - now THERE'S posh!

Pen74 · 12/05/2008 22:00

Theo is definitely not posh round these parts (quite the opposite). Rory, Imogen and Miles aren't either.

Tarquin & Horatio are definitely posh!

yurt1 · 12/05/2008 22:09

I like Ptolemy the architect bod.

Julian isn't posh!

Edgar and Humphrey are posh though.

Needamassage · 12/05/2008 22:16

Jonty and Rollo.

And hasn't Cate Blanchett called her little boy something strange like Alphonsius or something?

kategarden · 12/05/2008 22:20

Rupert definitely (can you imagine surviving a normal school called Rupert . . .). Tarquin too by the same argument.
Also Piers - I lived in a Spanish village once which had two Piers (Piers's?) living there, both had been at Eton (plus an ex-Harrow bloke, but he was called David).
I think the locals had a slightly strange idea of what was normal for the English

backonthedecaff · 12/05/2008 22:21

Definitely Jonty
Tarquin
Octavia
Araminta
