Looking for a middle name that goes with the name Aurora please

Baby is a week old and everyone keeps asking us for the name but we don't want to announce it until we've decided on the whole name

I thought Rose but we also were considering Evelyn

Other suggestions would be appreciated please

Borealis?

Justme2023123 · 01/01/2025 21:35

Too many Rs with Rose as a middle name. Evelyn is ok though.

Congratulations 💐

Jade
Mai

Celeste

My first thought was Rose. Not keen on Aurora Evelyn it doesn’t sound right (to me).

Isla
claire
poppy

I’d use Aurora as a middle name. It’s lovely but it’s tricky to use day to day. What would her nickname be - Rory?

Anna Aurora Jones
Phoebe Aurora Jones
Nellie Aurora Jones
Lola Aurora Jones
Charlotte Aurora Jones

I agree Aurora is a really difficult name. Switch it to middle name instead?

Borealis?

Ha - though that’s actually rather nice.

I’d just avoid Rose, Grace, May, Hope or any similar filler. Saying that while Evelyn is nice, the mix of Aurora (well known to mean dawn) and eve is maybe a bit odd.

No family names you like I take it? If not I think you need something quite soft as Aurora is quite chewy

Aurora Beatrice
Aurora Louise
Aurora Sophie
Aurora Charlotte
etc

I quite like Aurora Celeste as suggested by PP, but it does rather make you sound like a astronomy fanatic

StormingNorman · 01/01/2025 21:54

Aurora Grace
Aurora Rose
Aurora Leonora
Aurora Elizabeth

Scutterbug · 01/01/2025 21:55

My first thought was Jade.
Jane
Kate
Tess
Beth
Coco
Faith
Louise
May
Maeve
Niamh
Opal
Pearl

GallopingGuineaPigs · 01/01/2025 21:56

I think it needs to be something shortish and with "harder" sounds, ideally starting with a consonant to avoid it blurring with the end of Aurora. So not Rose 😬

Grace would work, but it's a very popular middle name.

Or...

Jade
Fern
Celyn
Catrin
Violet
Hazel

ItsCalledAConversation · 01/01/2025 21:56

Aurora Leonora (sniggers)

ok then

Aurora Dora
Aurora Flora
Aurora Laura

whatsinanameeh · 01/01/2025 22:03

Aurora Rose, as in both the names of Disney's sleeping beauty? (Princess aurora/briar rose)

Well I love it, if you're a Disney fan. Perhaps not if you aren't.

Personally, I like family names as middle names but maybe you don't have any you like.

ffsfindmeausername · 01/01/2025 22:04

I like Aurora, I don't think you need to overthink the middle name as tbh who uses them? I have no clue what most people i know middle names are. I myself haven't got a middle name.
ideas though are
Aurora jane / jayne
Aurora may
Aurora jade
Aurora Alice
Aurora juliet
Aurora Joan/June
Aurora Louise
Aurora Grace

OnceMoreWithAttitude · 01/01/2025 22:07

I never think names starting with a vowel sound good after an ‘a’ ending. It doesn’t flow, or sounds like AuroraRevelyn.

A middle name isn’t compulsory. I haven’t got one.

But maybe:
Jane
Beth
Lark

Frangywangywoowah · 01/01/2025 22:11

May
Kate

Evelyn Rose would be nice…

NombreCambiado · 01/01/2025 22:30

Aurora Faith is lovely

OolongTeaDrinker · 01/01/2025 22:34

Aurora Artemis
Aurora Hazel
Aurora Beatrix
Aurora Tabitha
Aurora Lucia

brummumma · 01/01/2025 22:35

I'd avoid Aurora all together ....honestly...it's awful. You are raising an actual human being who will be an adult one day not a Disney princess. I'd be a bit embarrassed if anyone in my immediate family called their baby it

Waggytail · 01/01/2025 22:38

Aurora Sophie?

Bigearringsbigsmile · 01/01/2025 22:39

I know an aurora who can't say her Rs
I would be thinking of an alternative honestly

AInightingale · 01/01/2025 22:40

There's an Elizabeth Barrett Browning poem called 'Aurora Leigh' but maybe that's a bit much! Cool name to have though.
