Looking for a middle name that goes with the name Aurora please

Baby is a week old and everyone keeps asking us for the name but we don't want to announce it until we've decided on the whole name

I thought Rose but we also were considering Evelyn

Other suggestions would be appreciated please

Amazed at some of the rude comments

So what if a Disney princess was called Aurora? So that means it's off the table for everyone forever Confused

There's a lot of ridiculous people floating around here. We can't all be a Grace or a Charlotte. Perhaps you think we should go back to all being called Anne or Jane?

We like it and we're calling her Aurora and she may have the nickname Rory because we like that as well.

If you don't like it fair play, no need to comment, I didn't ask if you liked the name I asked for middle name suggestions!

I'd be a bit embarrassed if anyone in my immediate family called their baby it She'd be Auwowa or Auvova here, so it would probably be funny.

Scirocco · 02/01/2025 11:04

I like it, especially with Rory as a nickname. I think a short name, starting with a hard consonant, would work well as a middle name.

Can I add as well I've had a tough pregnancy with HG, I also had the flu the week before I gave birth and had to go to hospital twice for fluids and medication, I also have anemia which has made the lack of sleep and waking every 2 hours to feed her and then express really hard. This last week of my daughter's life has been incredibly stressful with issues to do with her weight and feeding as my eldest really struggling with the transition and seeing how upset I am. I've spent a lot of time in bed crying and trying to feed my baby, pretty much as soon as she was born. Whilst also being woken by 3yo old and all she wants is me,

Writing nasty comments about her name is just really really shitty and unnecessary.

I've met 4 different children called "Aurora" and they were all lovely girls it's not as out there as it's being made out to be and I'm sorry but it's a YOU problem if you can only associate it with Disney. I'm sure I've only seen the film maybe once as a kid and it's old and boring! Nothing to do with the reason I like the name

I happen to love the name Aurora so don’t worry about it OP. It’s a lovely name.

Sorry for the rude replies OP, can't believe the audacity of some people commenting on the name you've already chosen for your daughter!
You didn't ask for opinions on that, only about a middle name.
You and your partner have chosen a name you both love which is all that matters.

muddyford · 02/01/2025 12:40

I think Aurora is lovely. But short second name can sound a bit abrupt.

Aurora Caroline
Aurora Helen
Aurora Beatrice
Aurora Hester
Aurora Frances
Aurora Clare

I like the name Aurora. It's a top 50 name now so completely normal.

Is there anything that means a lot to you that can help with a middle name? Or maybe something influenced by being born in December? Sometimes having a meaning can help make the decision. Related to December:

Aurora Holly
Aurora Noelle
Aurora Natalie
Aurora Christine
Aurora Scarlett

Ones I think just sound nice:
Aurora Violet
Aurora Beatrice (Rory Bea is a cute nickname)
Aurora Hope or Faith as you've had a tough journey
Aurora Lucy (meanings combined would be "dawn light" which is cute)

Let us know what you pick 😊

HugoYorway · 02/01/2025 14:43

I like the name Aurora. It's a top 50 name now so completely normal. That's part of what I have against it. It's become popular from nowhere, and there are many other long vowelly names popular. Seems faddy. The main reason is the Rs though.

GingerWineIsGood · 02/01/2025 14:45

I like Aurora Beatrice mentioned early on.

Togetheragain45 · 02/01/2025 14:48

I think it has to be one consonant.
Aurora Jade / Jane
Aurora Faith
Aurora Kate
Aurora Lynn
Aurora Sue
Aurora Beth

Aurora is a gorgeous name! Congratulations @RedRobyn2021

I love Aurora Florence.

Aurora Sian
Aurora Clover
Aurora Harriet

LeopardsANeutral · 02/01/2025 14:57

I love Aurora, I'd have loved to use it for DD but it rhymes with our last name!
Reading the replies you've had, I'd go for something one syllable and non-flouncy. I think Aurora Kate is my personal favourite.
With her being born at christmas time though, it could be nice to use something like Ivy, Noelle (although is that a bit flouncy?) or Winter.
It's such a lovely name that no middle name is really needed if you really can't decide on one.

Waterboatlass · 02/01/2025 14:57

I agree with some PPs, concise, consonant sounds start and end. No r's or S's or w'w.

Rose doesn't work for me. Too many R's and I think the sound needs to be a bit less soft

Jane
Jade
Jean
Joan
Beth
Kate
Maeve
Faye
Sage
Maude
Blythe

For a longer option I like Jacqueline as the hard sounds work well

Relaxd · 02/01/2025 15:04

My first thought is not to have a middle name? But otherwise here are some ideas that are short, offer a traditional element and could work with both Aurora and Rory:

  • Anne
  • Kate
  • Elizabeth
  • Pearl
  • Natalie
  • Verity

good luck!

fairytailcat · 02/01/2025 15:09

It's awful, really chavvy. Can you reconsider?

Shony · 02/01/2025 15:09

I love Aurora Leigh, but I would go with Aurora Dawn. Congratulations on your new daughter Flowers

HugoYorway · 02/01/2025 15:12

Aurora Fleur?

LouisvilleSlugger · 02/01/2025 15:14

I can understand being peeved at the less than complimentary comments, but doesn’t it make you think this is what people in rl will be saying (behind your back and then your daughter’s) about your choice of name? If I were you I’d have it as a middle name.

StarMincePies · 02/01/2025 15:17

The little Aurora I know is Aurora Juno. I've never thought it doesn't go. I think the parents just liked both names!

DogwoodTree · 02/01/2025 15:21

Aurora is a lovely name. I’ve always liked it and I didn’t know about the disney princess connection until a few years ago. It’s irrelevant unless we also have to rule out Belle and Jasmine as well.

as for middle names, I LOVE Jean as a middle name. It’s so cool. Aurora Jean is lovely and if you go with the nickname Rory then Rory Jean is also a cute little moniker. We call our daughter by her first name shortening and middle name quite often, as an affectionate pet name.

congrats on your baby and don’t worry about some random strangers disliking the name Aurora. No name is universally liked so you just have to not care that there might be someone sniffy about it. I’m sure if those rude posters on here said what their kids were called, there’d be plenty of dissent.

DogwoodTree · 02/01/2025 15:23

This type of comment is so unnecessary. No name is liked by everyone so whatever OP chooses, there’d be some random person or extended family
member who doesn’t like it. Why are you trying to make her paranoid?

OceanSafari · 02/01/2025 15:27

Aurora Jane
