Looking for a middle name that goes with the name Aurora please

Baby is a week old and everyone keeps asking us for the name but we don't want to announce it until we've decided on the whole name

I thought Rose but we also were considering Evelyn

Other suggestions would be appreciated please

I can understand being peeved at the less than complimentary comments, but doesn’t it make you think this is what people in rl will be saying (behind your back and then your daughter’s) about your choice of name? If I were you I’d have it as a middle name.

What a lovely fucking thing to say to a new mother who has been struggling.

OP, many congrats.
I quite like Aurora Louise ... or Aurora Lou Flowers

Awww Christmas Baby! Congratulations.

Natalie and Natasha both mean born on Christmas Day
They're from 'birth of the Lord', so more Christmas-related than specific to Christmas day, Aurora Natalia flows.

My name is Natalie which means born on Christmas Day. I think Aurora Natalie flows too

I know a few Aurora's and all but one have the middle name Rose, the other is Imogen.

I'd personally go for something less floral, mote strong sounding as I find Aorora such a frilly name. I much prefer Evelyn to Rose though

Aurora Noelle

I didn't know that!

I watch Disney Pixar films sometimes I have a 4yo but I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of Disney or anything

I only know one Aurora and her mum is a huge Disney fan. I wouldn’t do it, the Disney Connection is strong.

Aurora Dawn
Aurora Skye

Those are 'dawn dawn' and 'dawn sky'

yes!

So rule out Walt, Mickey, Donald, Minnie etc.
And Pocohantas.

I only knew Aurora was a Disney name because my daughter had a mug in work.

MayaPinion · 03/01/2025 15:42

I think, with Aurora, you can get away with something whimsical like:

Aurora Sapphire
Aurora Gold
Aurora Sylvie
Aurora Maeve
Aurora Lyra

The name comes from the Latin phrase natale domini, meaning birth of the Lord.

While it refers to Christmas (the birth of the Lord), it doesn't mean "born on Christmas Day".

Maybe I am a chav! In which case it's perfect isn't it?

So glad you said this OP as I always think this when people say something is chavvy, downmarket or common on here as a reason for someone not to do something. Not everyone has to be middle class with middle class tastes. Other classes and tastes do exist whether they like it or not🙄

Anyway, we needed to think of a middle name fairly last minute as we decided to bump our chosen middle name up to first name place when DD was born. Like you we felt rushed to confirm a name but nothing really felt right. To speed things up we went for a family name which I’ll admit isn’t a perfect fit and we wouldn’t have chosen if it wasn’t a family name but does feel really special. Is that an option? Can you go through your grandmother’s names and see if anything works?

I am glad you like Lark! Have you named her now?

If not, with the Xmas Day update, I want to offer up
Aurora Dominique -

"Dominique is a name of French origin, meaning "of the Lord." It is a form of the masculine name Dominic, derived from the Latin name Dominicus meaning "belonging to the Lord." Dominique is a beautiful biblical name making it an excellent choice for baby born on Sunday, "the Lord's day.""

I knew a Dominic who was born on Xmas Day, I was told then it meant Day of the Lord (I've always been a name nerd!), but looking it up to clarify, the name sites are saying it's just 'of the lord' - nice if you have any xtian leanings.
If not, I couldn't help myself from picking something super special for an Xmas Day baby - I LOVE Lark, but I'd go for a festive name or something beginning with X.

Aurora Elvie
Aurora Holly
Aurora ...

Amaryllis is a beautiful flower associated with Christmas. This Greek moniker, meaning 'to sparkle' was first used as an appellation of pastoral beauties.

Angelina, the subtle variation of Angel and Angela, sounds festive without sounding over the top.

I love the AA alliteration!

Gloria is a jubilant Christmas-inspired name, coming from the Latin word for "glory,"

Or go with Lark, and I will forever feel thrilled I helped name another human!

Thank you for this!

No we still haven't decided, it's taking much longer than with my first. I love Lark but my partner isn't sure

He basically said no to Jean

I feel like Rose is out now too

You have time, don't rush.

What about
Aurora Loveday
Aurora Bliss
Aurora Felicity
Aurora Joy

HugoYorway · 06/01/2025 14:17

Those sound like porn stars or euphemisms for 'morning glory'.

RedRobyn2021 · 06/01/2025 14:44

DP has gone and booked the appointment to register her next Monday so now we're on a clock to decide

DP seems to say no to everything, he said yes to Rose but I'm worried about the Disney connotations now

Aurora?

seriously?

remember one day she’ll be applying for jobs (unless she’s going to live on benefits) and that name will be the first thing perspective employers see
