We need a girl's name beginning with D ...

because our names begin with A and B - and then entirely unintentionally, we called DS a name beginning with C.

Front runners are Dorothy and Dorothea at the moment.

What do you think?

I like Delores. Knew a girl called Derringer when I was a teenager. Pronounced Deh-rinja.

KashaSarrasin · 16/03/2008 21:47

Doreen ?

HonoriaGlossop · 16/03/2008 22:18

Dorothy is lovely, shortened to Dotty or Dolly is just sooo cute

Also LOVE Delphine (Delphi)

Bink · 16/03/2008 22:22

I toyed with Dorcas for dd, for a short while. (Also Loveday, not that that fits the brief - it just demonstrates what sort of place I was in.)

Decima I like, but it has to be merited - ie she must be your 10th daughter, or at least your 10th child.

I think Delphine is very pretty, as is Dulcinea (but latter a bit of a mouthful).
I have a mate with a Desdemona (tomboyish, known as DeeDee).

Presumably you have ruled out Dest'nae?

Dido?
Domenica?

KristinaM · 16/03/2008 22:24

I had a friend call her daughter Devon Chelsea, everyone took the "mick" but that didn't put her off, she called DD that because she liked the names!

stuffedolivia · 17/03/2008 18:03

Dorothea's great - all the shortened forms are lovely, plus it's unpretentious and never likely to date.
Mind you, DH completed refused to even consider one of my choice's for DD - insisting that pregnancy was making me temporarily insane - so what do I khow?!
