Frances - a bit old-fashioned, IMO

Ruth - a 'strong' name, IMO

Martha - lovely

i love both ruth and martha - indeed, i toyed with Ruth myself.

these are 'strong' names to pull off i feel - and my reasoning for not using the name was ...if i have an ugly child - its a god awful ugly name.

kittywise · 17/02/2008 20:46

martha, frances, ruth ( don't like ruth)

I like all of them. I have a slight preference for Frances, possibly because I loved Russell Hoban's Frances books so much as a child.

Frances.. my lovely friend is frankie
Martha
Ruth
but I like them all

Report

Thanks everyone. It doesn't sound like there's too much distaste for any of them, which is nice.

I really do like Martha. My one slight reservation is that there's no derivitive of it, unlike my other two DCs. Frances would be Fran and Ruth would be Ruthie.

I know a lovely young woman called Martha. We met on holiday a few years ago. She is beautiful, very funny, quite crazy - so for me it has to be MARTHA every time!
