Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on a baby girls name - Truly. I absolutely love it but husband isn't convinced... xxx

Scrumptious

ChimChimeny · 21/10/2022 09:24

My neighbour has a dog called Truly, I just don't think it's a real person name

toastofthetown · 21/10/2022 09:24

I’m going to be one of an army of Scrumptious replies here.

And I only saw the movie once and hated it.

I prefer True for a name.

piglet81 · 21/10/2022 09:24

Scrumptious. Please, don’t do this to your child!

ChessieFL · 21/10/2022 09:25

Yep, she will get people singing Truly Scrumptious at her all the time and she will hate you for it.

happyinherts · 21/10/2022 09:26

Trudy is better

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 21/10/2022 09:28

Truly is an adjective, not a noun. ‘ Truly what? ‘ Will follow her all her days ( until she starts telling them it’s actually Trudy, and they misheard).

orangeisthenewpuce · 21/10/2022 09:33

I agree that Trudy sounds v similar and is better and less embarrassing for a child.

Kanaloa · 21/10/2022 09:35

I know one of the Kardashians called their child True. But it isn’t really a name, it’s just a word. Same with Truly, not really a name. I guess it fits with a lot of virtue type names like Verity and Patience etc but surely in that case it would be Honesty?

PeekAtYou · 21/10/2022 09:36

Khloe Kardashian has a dd called True. I'd assume that you were a fan.

onemouseplace · 21/10/2022 09:36

Pinkywoo · 21/10/2022 09:23

Scrumptious

Exactly. Don’t do it.

PutYourShoesOnWereLate · 21/10/2022 09:38

DD performed Truly Scrumptious with her musical theatre class, and I never wanted to hear that bloody song again, but now it's stuck in my head. So thanks for that!

Don't call your baby Truly.

Or maybe Truth?

Agree with everyone else though, Truly doesn’t sound like a name.

Aquamarine1029 · 21/10/2022 09:39

Truly daft.

ForkHandler · 21/10/2022 09:41

It's like calling your child Very or Bloody or Totally. 'Congratulations, Literally Hancock, you're our new Prime Minister.'

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 21/10/2022 09:44

It's not just for a baby though. She'll be an adult most of her life and it's really not a great choice for a woman.

Kanaloa · 21/10/2022 09:47

Oh yes, I suppose Truth. Either way I don’t think I’m a fan! I mean Verity is an actual name with history of use that means truth, so maybe that would work if it’s the virtue you like?

TrashyPanda · 21/10/2022 09:47

Yup, immediate reaction is “scrumptious”
considered reaction is “awful”

True is just as bad - immediate reaction is “Kardashian” - and that is not a positive thing.

Trudy is fine.

goblinkinggoblinking · 21/10/2022 09:48

Awful. It's not a name

MrsMoastyToasty · 21/10/2022 09:49

You might want to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang before you decide....

NotEnoughMud · 21/10/2022 09:49

Madly, deeply

MrsEricBana · 21/10/2022 09:50

Sorry it's a hard no from me too.

SoupDragon · 21/10/2022 09:52

Truly awful.

Fuckallthetories · 21/10/2022 10:06

Ehhhhhhh no

tracy
trudy
lucy
judy

LightHousePanda · 21/10/2022 10:09

If you like the sound of then Trudy might be better. If you like virtue names then verity or some other more established one might be better
