Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on a baby girls name - Truly. I absolutely love it but husband isn't convinced... xxx

Verity
Sadie

I'm not sure, maybe I like it. It makes me think of the song truly, madley, deeply by savage garden.

It sounds similar to Trudy with I've always quite liked. I think it could grow on me

blossomstar · 21/10/2022 11:53

Wow! I take that as a no then...

No I am not a kardashian fan...

No, I don't like the name Trudy...

Just really do like the name Truly - I think it's so pretty...

Thank you for all Comments though xx

No! It's just a word! You wouldn't call her Definitely or Seriously would you? Ffs.

MrsWarboysHandGrenade · 21/10/2022 11:57

I’d guess she’ll be forever correcting those who hear it as Trudy or Julie

PrioritiseCalm · 21/10/2022 11:57

How about Tilly instead?

viques · 21/10/2022 12:02

Just really like the name Truly.

the problem is it isn’t a name, it’s a word, I like the words cautiously, kindly, graciously, generously. But they aren’t names and wouldn’t burden a child with them as a name.

ofwarren · 21/10/2022 12:04

Another one saying Truly Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Its not really a name, it's just a word.
How about Julie/Julia/Juliet?
Similar sound.

Beamur · 21/10/2022 12:05

I quite like it.
She would have a lifetime of correcting people though who think she's said Trudy.

Spookypig · 21/10/2022 14:12

I actually love it! I think it’s so pretty and a lovely sound. So funny that you posted this because I literally Googled it today too! Just suddenly thought of it at random and realised I loved it a couple of hours ago, and then saw this post!

Longdarkcloud · 21/10/2022 14:30

It’s truly awful

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 21/10/2022 14:33

True sounds like a sheepdog.

Imogensmumma · 21/10/2022 14:33

Truely hate it… What about Prueor Judy

Imogensmumma · 21/10/2022 14:33

Prue or Judy damn autocorrect

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/10/2022 15:17

Call her Truly Scrumptious and be done with it.

Avidreader69 · 21/10/2022 15:17

Truly Scrumptious. Just don't.

tweedlee · 21/10/2022 15:24

No no no. Its an adverb, not a name.

sageandbasil · 21/10/2022 15:26

I much prefer Trudy

blossomstar · 21/10/2022 15:35

It is a name though...

Even after all of these messages, I still love it 😂

A lot to consider

I agree that it’s actually a nice sounding word for a name!

However I am also in the ‘Scrumptious’ camp, sorry.

Is it? Where does that stop? Is Faithfully a name? Is Carefully?

NoSquirrels · 21/10/2022 15:49

If it weren’t for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang you’d be OK. But Scrumptious is really all anyone will ever hear. Don’t do it to her!

Ian Fleming’s names for women and girls are not to be recommended in any way.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 21/10/2022 15:53

Truly a bad idea.

WaltzingWaters · 21/10/2022 15:57

I immediately sang truly Scrumptious as most others here have. Please don’t do that to your child, she’ll constantly have people sing that to her.

Elspethelf · 21/10/2022 16:11

Truly is a name, just not a common one. There is nothing wrong with it, and it sounds nicer than Trudy in my opinion.

Young children wouldn’t know Truly Scrumptious, that was on old movie when I was a kid.
