Perspicacious for a boy

I know the practice of giving babies' grace names has fallen out favour, but I've always loved it. Bearing that in mind, I'd love to hear your opinions of Perspicacious for a boy. It means ''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have. Saying that, I'd appreciate feedback.

Oh stop it.

CandyLeBonBon · 20/08/2022 23:39

I think Audacious has a certain ring to it. Audie for short?

Skelligsfeathers · 20/08/2022 23:39

I like it!

Nah, it’s only too much if the middle names are Owen Robert

That sounds like an internet thing.

I am reminded that Terry Pratchett also has a character called Legitimate…because the parents were delighted they finally had a child who was…

ladydimitrescu · 20/08/2022 23:40

Absolutely dreadful, he will call childline as soon as he is able

Perspicacious Jeremiah Foxtrot-Smythe

It's perfect OP.

When's the christening?

Have you got his place at Eton sorted already? I would you know, the waiting list is terrible I've heard.

Oh, don't be ridiculous. Perspicacious indeed. You want the noun, not the adjective. The name you're looking for is Perspicacity.

Goddam it, you’re right.

shazzybazzy34 · 20/08/2022 23:42

Sounds like the technical name for a polyp. Hell no.

This is surely a complete wind up!

You think!?

How much gin have you had tonight, op?

Poyu · 20/08/2022 23:43

Bucket as a middle name?

whataloadabullocks · 20/08/2022 23:44

The question is OP will it make him hopping mad when he's older, or will people just ribbit on about it? I can see him being very good at long jump though.
I think it goes well with his double-barrelled last name.

AgathaPastie · 20/08/2022 23:44

Let's hope no one that pronounces it has a lisp

Ryanstartedthefire2 · 20/08/2022 23:44

I like it

UrsulaPandress · 20/08/2022 23:45

I met a chap in Joburg called Briefcase. And a Computer.

Go for it op.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 20/08/2022 23:45

So versatile and so much potential for nicknames Percy, Spicy, Pious etc. I'm shocked it's not more common.

AgathaPastie · 20/08/2022 23:45

Perspicacious Ponsonby-Pisstake

I love that. That is the perfect name. And I do like Perspicacity but thinking about it, that would suit a girl. Maybe if Perspicacious has a little sister ...

Sounds a bit too much like Perspiration to me…

None at all. I'm heavily pregnant. You may drink gin while gestating, but I can assure I do not!
