I love the name Sasha and wondered what other people thought of it. Would you think a Sasha was a boy or a girl? Do you associate Sasha with anyone in particular?

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/03/2022 17:44

My old rottweiler Sasha. Sorry. I associate it with dogs now because of her.

AuntieStella · 03/03/2022 17:45

Sasha is definitely a boy. Probably tall and handsome with chiselled cheekbones

TheTempest · 03/03/2022 17:45

Yeah I think of a dog. Particularly a lovely staffie I know!

bellalou1234 · 03/03/2022 17:45

I like it like saskatoon too

Wicker73 · 03/03/2022 17:46

I think of it as short for Alexander- so a boy’s name. I associate it with Slavic languages.

bellalou1234 · 03/03/2022 17:46

That should say saskia

ThymePoultice · 03/03/2022 17:46

Boy.

Shura for girl.

FelicityPike · 03/03/2022 17:46

A boy…..but it would be fine for a girl too.
My next door neighbour’s cat was Sasha.

ThymePoultice · 03/03/2022 17:47

Unless it’s to do with those godawful Sasha dolls.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 03/03/2022 17:47

Sasha is to me ALWAYS a girls name, and a bit of a chavvy one, sorry OP. I'm London if that helps.

Feeellostindirection · 03/03/2022 17:48

Sasha Baron Cohen always my first thought when I hear this name

User1234567891011121314 · 03/03/2022 17:48

My friend is called Sascha beautiful woman

feellikeanalien · 03/03/2022 17:48

I think of it as a girl's name first. My DD had a Sasha in her class.

cheesychipsfan · 03/03/2022 17:49

Sasha to me is a girls name. I've only known one and she was in DD's class lovely girl from mc background.

BiscuitLover3678 · 03/03/2022 17:49

Russian boy

Any girl

duvetdayforeveryone · 03/03/2022 17:50

I love that name for a boy :)

BobLep0nge · 03/03/2022 17:51

A hansome man or a dog.

mizzo · 03/03/2022 17:51

Firstly Baron Cohen

Secondly our old neighbours Alsatian

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 03/03/2022 17:51

If you live in a diverse area, it'll be mainly a boys name, because that's the dominant usage in mainland especially eastern Europe

It can be used for girls, but that's less common. If you call him Alexander in full, there's loads of lovely short forms, including this one

Stokey · 03/03/2022 17:52

I know a boy and a girl called Sasha. The boy is short for Alexander but the family call him Sasha. Girl is just Sasha. I don't think of it as "chavvy" or either of them. Both nice kids - they don't know each other - both suit it.

drpet49 · 03/03/2022 17:52

Girls name to me. And I think Russian.

StopForAMinute · 03/03/2022 17:52

It makes me think girls name.

TolkiensFallow · 03/03/2022 17:53

I always think of girls. But apparently there’s a boy in my daughters class called Sascha.

Justleaveitblankthen · 03/03/2022 17:53

I know little girls in my DC's class with that name ( 20 years ago ) 10 years ago I wanted 'Sacha' for my male dog, but was out voted.

The obsession with class on this thread is a bit icky.
