I love the name Sasha and wondered what other people thought of it. Would you think a Sasha was a boy or a girl? Do you associate Sasha with anyone in particular?

I think of my friends lovely Borzoi dog.

Nutsohazelnuts · 04/03/2022 04:16

There were a few Sashas at uni with me; early nineties.
The two I still know are both wonderful. Neither is British. One is now a senior diplomat in an EU country and the other is an artist. Both very attractive, interesting people.
So I reckon it’s a good name.

The only Sasha I know is female and from middle class farming stock. I like it.

Dinoteeth · 04/03/2022 05:42

I know of one female who'll be about 50 and a baby boy.

But it sounds eastern European to me.

RedRobin100 · 04/03/2022 05:44

It’s nice

Selma22 · 04/03/2022 07:26

To be fair, it's more like Charlie.

You expect a bloke, but it's sometimes a girl

As it's short for both Aleksandr and Aleksandra, but normally used for boys

HelloDulling · 04/03/2022 07:36

For a boy, I would think they were of Russian heritage.
For a girl, I would think of my colleague, a supremely bright, well-read young woman. She’s someone I expect to hear great things of in a few year.

ChangeAndHelp · 04/03/2022 07:44

Makes me think of a Russian boy.

If you like the name sound then a similar female name is Saskia. That is a Dutch name.
Rembrandt’s wife was called Saskia

OdeToSadDisco · 04/03/2022 08:09

I'd think girl. I know 2 Sasha's, 1 20's, 1 30's, both beautiful, smart, lovely women.

It's a lovely name.

ZenNudist · 04/03/2022 08:12

It's a unisex name but for a boy of Eastern European descent. I like it.

Liamgallaghersparka · 04/03/2022 08:21

It's a lovely name but someone I know had a Labrador called Sasha so I associate it with dogs.

statetrooperstacey · 04/03/2022 08:58

Lovely name, boys and girls, used more for girls in uk I think. I would assume Russian or Eastern European if a boy. I really like it, I would say every bodies heard if it but it’s not common, not where I am anyway. Use it!

MarshMarigold22 · 04/03/2022 11:49

My first thought is "ooh, I wonder if it's a boy or a girl"? Not sure that helps!

Isaisa · 04/03/2022 11:50

BurningTheToast · 04/03/2022 11:52

Sasha is a boy's name. For me, it's my six foot two Russian neighbour.

Raindancer411 · 04/03/2022 11:53

I think of my uncles dog 🐕

ukborn · 04/03/2022 11:59

My favourite cat was called Sasha. Such a beautiful girl. I love the name.

MissDynamite23 · 04/03/2022 12:02

My first thought is the spelling - surely Sacha rather than Sasha?! I like it. We know a four year old Sacha (boy).

Blubells · 04/03/2022 14:27

Sacha is French

Blubells · 04/03/2022 14:28

Sacha - French

Sascha - German

Both are boys names
