What do you think of when you hear Sasha?

I love the name Sasha and wondered what other people thought of it. Would you think a Sasha was a boy or a girl? Do you associate Sasha with anyone in particular?

I know both male and female Sashas. They all suit their name

Although I thought for a boy it's usually spelled Sacha

I think girl initially but wouldn't be surprised if I met a Sasha who was a boy. Actually I love that name for either it's gorgeous

Sascha is German and mostly used for boys.

I wanted to call ds Sacha (French heritage). I find Sasha for a girl is like calling her Dave.

I think of it as a female Labrador’s name. But actually one of my (male) neighbours is called Sacha (pronounced Sasha) so I should think differently I suppose.

Alexander - Sascha Zverev in particular (fab German tennis player) - all positive connotations.

For a girl Sasha has a 70s feel to me, like Amber and Natasha - I knew a posh one. I wouldn’t use it as a full girl’s name now, but OK short for Alexandra.

Prefer it as a boys short form of Alexander spelt traditionally as Sacha. I would call him Alexander though, Sacha is quite a specific flavour and he might not like it.

It is a Slavic name, short for Alexander, most commonly. Adopted in Western languages and used as a standalone female name, rather tan a nn. I like it and think it works well for boys or girls.
