I recently heard of an Elphinstone Dalgleish. Have also met a couple of kids called Star.

What fun/marvellous/slightly wacky names have you come across?

It took me until page 5 to find my DD's name!

allofthecheese · 11/01/2022 21:44

I knew a Rainbow-Lily which was sweet. I also currently know an Angel who is anything but lol

piney07 · 11/01/2022 22:03

A girl called Amazing or Maisie for short. Not my cup of tea but certainly unusual!

KineticSand · 11/01/2022 22:23

My friend's sister's baby was delivered by an obstetrician called Dr Fani McCunti

MerylSqueak · 11/01/2022 22:26

My DD was delivered by a doctor called Mohammed Ali, which tickled me Smile

My cousin in Australia taught 4 siblings called Lynx, Lock, and twins Chain and Charm. Parents were motorbike enthusiasts.

I know a toddler named Banjo.

@caringcarer

In the past I have taught students called Vincent, Jeramiah and another called Milicent.
Millicent is a classic British name? I wanted to call my DD that but had a son instead.

How is Vincent a wild/unusual name?

MrsReeves · 12/01/2022 06:43

I've just remembered 2 from school. A girl called Kizmit, and also a Fladia Phoenix

Beapoppy · 12/01/2022 09:58

At school years ago our teacher was called Dick Willy Cox.
So brave to become a teacher 🤣
IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/01/2022 10:12

@Katieandthekids, we had a teacher called Richard William Fallas! He owned that name!

@thesparkthatbled

Best name I've ever come across is a lady in a social history book about the Scottish Isles: Euphemia McCrimmon. She looked stern as hell in the pictures as well!

I know siblings called Ellis and Eloise, both lovely names, but an odd choice for siblings I always thought.

I've met a Ron McDonald.

DH used to work with a Tim Mallet

I wonder if that's the same one as the Tim E. Mallet I came across? That's how he signed off, with the initial in too
steppemum · 12/01/2022 19:17

I know I am being thick, but that is the third time the name Tim Mallet has come up and I can't for the life of me understand why it is unusual.

What am I missing?

I assume it’s because the posters grew up watching Timmy Mallett on kids tv.

Love that name!
mistermagpie · 12/01/2022 19:54

My son goes to school with Tavish McDougall (we live in Scotland), I love that!

Also when I was at school there was a boy called Marc Aqualina (said Aqua-leena) and, although he was utterly unremarkable, we all wanted to marry him so we could be Mrs Aqualina.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/01/2022 20:06

I like the name of the news broadcaster Damian Gramaticus.

I went to school with a Ronnie Rennie. Why? What were Mr&Mrs Rennie thinking?

Vampirethriller · 12/01/2022 20:14

Worthington Bridge
Azelia Sharp
Septimus Frost
Batty Castle
Easter Fairy

Are some of my favourites!
