Muslim boy names- help me please

I think I posted about this before, but I’m nearly 36 weeks and we still have no names, so MN to the rescue! So to set the scene, I’m white brit and dh is brit pakistani. V large extended family on dh side means all the names id choose from the big book of Muslim baby names are gone (Zachariah, Haris, shoaib, kamran, Adam, Ali, layth, zayan, Ismail, ayan etc)

People keep on crapping on the names we / I do like. None of DH know we’re having a boy but they’ve crapped on them in passing. They are also hypercritical because of my heritage (we’ll leave that one there and not touch it because it’s a whole other thread)

My family are also quite Britain first in their mentality (again whole other thread) Neither mental side’s feeling will be strictly paid attention too but tbh I can do without the grief we got for DDs name on both sides, it was f’ing relentless.

So so far we like kinda but not properly.::

Aiden or aydin

Deen but spelt Dean

Asher

Rayan- my family would def have a problem with this name but aside from that it’s v v popular- I know about 4/5 people with a son called rayan so it dulls it a little for me.

It’s this or succumb to the footballer names DH keeps on suggesting

I forgot I like bilal and bayram too

ablutiions · 26/10/2021 09:19

Stop testing the names with family members. You and DH need to discuss and decide in private.

Tell people his name, only after he's born, and registered. If they make rude comments then, call them out on being rude and disrespectful.

Congratulations by the way, how very exciting !

Aidens got aids, He'd be teased and called gayden
Sorry, you lost me at this OP. Angry
Have you tried educating your ignorant relative as to why that is offensive.

M0rT · 30/10/2021 00:54

I'm Irish and I've seen three names with really similar spellings of names I think of as Irish suggested. Aidan (v popular here and not teased, also Aids is not a slagging for children born ten years ago, nevermind now. I'm going to guess it was your parents generation who made that comment) Cian and Dara are all really common Irish names.
It's a small world.
I'd pick Suleiman, it's such a cool name. And Sully is a cool nickname.
Would it be ok to name your son after your DH? It's pretty common here but maybe it's not the done thing in your families?

Beachloveramy · 30/10/2021 03:45

I'm in a Similar position - I'm white British (similar kind of family) and my husband is black African Muslim.

We called our son Zayne Adam - technically Zayne wasn't spelt the Muslim way but we preferred it to Zain.

Lots of nephews with names such as Amir and trying to think of a name for the next child is impossible if we have another boy.

I loved Zak but husband doesn't like it.

HereWeGoAgains · 30/10/2021 06:38

I have a Muslim friend who has a Noah.

SpeakingFranglais · 30/10/2021 06:47

Darius

Mimmi78 · 30/10/2021 06:53

Pamir? Amin?

biscuitsnotbaby · 30/10/2021 07:29

Iskandar (Arabic form of Alexander)

Qasimir (you could spell it Casimir if you wanted Cass as a nn)

Mirza

Feroz

Ibrahim

Haroun

Timur (nn Tim)

If you’re willing to think laterally, Jordan? Or another geographical name.
