Muslim boy names- help me please

I think I posted about this before, but I’m nearly 36 weeks and we still have no names, so MN to the rescue! So to set the scene, I’m white brit and dh is brit pakistani. V large extended family on dh side means all the names id choose from the big book of Muslim baby names are gone (Zachariah, Haris, shoaib, kamran, Adam, Ali, layth, zayan, Ismail, ayan etc)

People keep on crapping on the names we / I do like. None of DH know we’re having a boy but they’ve crapped on them in passing. They are also hypercritical because of my heritage (we’ll leave that one there and not touch it because it’s a whole other thread)

My family are also quite Britain first in their mentality (again whole other thread) Neither mental side’s feeling will be strictly paid attention too but tbh I can do without the grief we got for DDs name on both sides, it was f’ing relentless.

So so far we like kinda but not properly.::

Aiden or aydin

Deen but spelt Dean

Asher

Rayan- my family would def have a problem with this name but aside from that it’s v v popular- I know about 4/5 people with a son called rayan so it dulls it a little for me.

It’s this or succumb to the footballer names DH keeps on suggesting

Adam is out for me on 2 counts- old terrible terrible boss and another relative with that name.

Already got an eeasa and musa in the extended family. Omar/ umar too although no offense to any parents with a kid called Omar i don’t like the name.

I think Anil is a Hindu/ Sikh name, perfectly lovely but not a Muslim name.

I always like to have a name no one in my immediate circle has, I’m wacky that way x

Do you actually want to call him a Muslim name? I mean YOU, personally - or are you just going along with what you feel is expected of you?

MerryMarigold · 23/10/2021 21:31

Noah? Only suggesting as I know if a family with Noah, Adam and Zain so assuming they follow a trend.

Well I’m a Muslim too, so yup super important to me, although I do want a more modern sounding and arguably ambiguous name. Same for my daughter, it’s really important for me, same with a good meaning x

Nehemiah
Ideal
Osman

Walktwomoons · 23/10/2021 21:33

Idrees/ Idris- it's a Muslim and a Welsh name.
Samir but everyone calls them Sammy.
Omar and Jamal are used in a lot of different cultures and are fairly pronounceable/ well known.
Daniyal
Raif
Basil
Farris

Ultimately you can't please everyone though. Don't tell anyone your name choice and don't be put off by people saying it's chavvy etc- opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. My friend in a similar situation just picked a first name from one culture and a middle name from another.

The islamic name would be Nuh and I’m not a big fan, i can imagine that being viewed as quite an ‘out there’ name x

ZiggZagg · 23/10/2021 21:37

Khaled
Esam
Radouaine
Souhaib
Ali
Malik
Kareem
Saeed
Yusuf (DH wanted this for DS but I didn't like it, he then told me why he liked it and it really grew on me)

There's loads of lovely boys names, my son is Zakariah and he is the only one in the family. There is one Zakariya but is pronounced different as I'm British and DH is Algerian.

Just pick one you like and eff what anyone else says!
