Surname and middle name are both one syllable so we want at least a two syllable name (middle name will be John).

Names I love that have been vetoed:

Raphael / Rafael nn Rafi (my absolute favorite but DW thinks it’s pretentious)

Jago (too ‘nicknamey’)

Rohan (Too ‘wet’)

Milo (Nestle milk)

Oscar (she had a fish called Oscar)

Tobias nn Toby (just doesn’t like it)

Names she likes that I don’t:

Rhodri
Ezra
Jonah
Sebastian

We can’t use a name beginning with El as it would be too matchy matchy with our DD which is a shame as we both like Elijah, Elliot and Ellis

Other names we both like but can’t use as they already belong to close friends or cousins are Arlo, Issac, Theo and Reuben

There is one name neither of us dislike (Jacob) but neither of us love it either. Please wise Mumsnetters there must be a name we haven't thought of yet??!

I've known a lowen and a roscoe, from school 30 years ago- so not too out there!

itsgettingweird · 06/11/2019 21:16

Jago for me.

Jago John is cool.

Either way he may get called JJ or LJ. I've noticed with J middle names this happens.
My ds gets called TJ. Not by me but I don't don't mind it.

AverageAvenger · 07/11/2019 11:02

What about:

Indio
Griffin
Traven

Leopardprintboots · 07/11/2019 11:14

Griff is cool. Good suggestion

I still like Jago John best

Astronica · 07/11/2019 11:20

Definitely Jago rather than Lowan. I think Jago is a really good name.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 07/11/2019 11:51

@skyejuly, ah, thanks. Yes, it's my favourite name too. Luckily DD likes it as that's always a concern. I call her my Demon of the Night. It definitely suits her Grin
Sorry for derail, Op

Jago John is fabulous!
I prefer it to Lowen. Which autocorrects to Listen. Confused

Heh1991 · 07/11/2019 22:47

What about:

Christian
Samuel
Rupert
Theodore
Hugo
Rafferty
Aubrey

Oh I feel privileged that you liked the name I gave you.

I love the name Lowen, but I had a girl so couldn't use it.

Jago is also lovely xx

Gabriel, Michael, Sebastian, Alexander, Louis, Henry, William, Liam, Joseph, Felix, Albert nn Bert, Richard, Philip nn Pip, Oscar, Ethan, Oliver nn Ollie, Edward, Aurelius, Levi, Nathan

I think a traditional, longer first name balances out the short middle name, John.

CrumpetyTea · 12/11/2019 03:47

Alexander
Gideon
Gilbert (I love Gil)

BelfastNonBlonde · 12/11/2019 06:44

What about Rafferty (Raff) rather than Rafael.

Modern and maybe not so “pretentious”..?!
