DH and I both have our fav names chosen. We like each other's choices but like our own more. We cannot decide whose choice to go with. If there is a clear majority for one of the names below DH says we should go with the majority.

So which do you prefer:

For a girl:
Anna
Matilda

For a boy:
Reuben
Samuel

Anna and Samuel

luckylady74 · 07/06/2007 14:30

reuben is beautiful and unlike samuel he won't find himself known as sam b or whatever the surname initial is like the 3 sam's in my son's preschool were and the williams too! i think biblical is the way to go for boys - though i went biblical then shakespeare.
girls names are both lovely - i think anna crosses generations where as matilda is popular now, not that that stops it being lovely.

MrsTulkinghorn · 07/06/2007 14:32

Thanks everyone so far. Keep opinions coming it. We have to make sure we get this right!

A quick tally of the results so far shows:

Anna 14
Matilda 9

Reuben 11
Samuel 13

Someone asked which my choice was. My favs are Anna and Reuben. DH is Matilda and Samuel. I do like them all though.

Anna

Reuben

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 14:45

Anna and Samuel, though all four are lovely IMO

I'd wait till BabyTulkighorn is born and see which they look like - two of each isn't too many.

(NB Tilly Tulkinghorn may be a bit much )

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:49

Samuel (it's in our future child top 10!)

and

Matilda

Cascara · 07/06/2007 14:50

Oh I agree, try them out on the baby. One of our names 100% did not suit our ds!

Lolly68 · 07/06/2007 14:54

Maltida (Tilly) and Samuel

boomie · 07/06/2007 14:56

Matilda (Tilly) and Samuel

RedLorryYellowLorry · 07/06/2007 15:02

I like Matilda and Samuel best.

thirtysomething · 07/06/2007 15:02

Anna and Samuel but all of them are lovely!

Tigana · 07/06/2007 15:03

matilda and reuben

SSSandy2 · 07/06/2007 15:10

Anna
Samuel

haarpsichordcarrier · 07/06/2007 15:11

Matilda though Anna is lovely too but people will keep saying "Hannah?" which will annoy
Samuel

HonorMatopoeia · 07/06/2007 15:11

Matilda
Samuel

katz · 07/06/2007 15:13

how strange!

DD2 is Called Annalise (Anna for short) and if she'd been a boy she'd have been Reuben!

so thats the way my votes goes

secondtime · 07/06/2007 15:14

Another one for Anna and Samuel (which would be quite fair, too, as you'd each have a chance of one of your choices)

kslatts · 07/06/2007 15:14

Matilda and Reuben

Pruuni · 07/06/2007 15:17

I like all of them.
I am no help.
I think Matilda is becoming very popular in the way that Max or Oscar were a couple of years ago - seems to be the name of the moment.
