Considering it for my son!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SleightOfMind · 25/08/2018 21:39

I went to school with a Crispin I quite fancied but had completely forgotten about.

Off to bigger SM ponds to see what became of him.

If you all love it then you should choose it.

Bit old-fashioned as well as posh. Don't like it, sorry.

Seafoodeatit · 27/08/2018 09:15

Twatty MP

StarfishSandwich · 27/08/2018 09:44

A crow hand puppet that my friend insisted on bringing everywhere for a few months whilst we were at college. 😂

ScoutAtticus · 27/08/2018 09:54

Tbh, I'm not keen on the actual name and just think that, followed by actual crisps which is fine if you don't mind him being called KP or Walkers which he will almost certainly be called of you send him anywhere other than Eton. If you're posh then it might work. If you're not then it will look like you're trying to be. But you probably wouldn't like the boring names I gave my children Wink

Miyah · 27/08/2018 09:55

Old-fashioned and posh, in the same catergory as ‘Tarquin’ imo!

MaryDollNesbitt · 27/08/2018 10:02

Mr Bingley! Grin

I think it's awful, OP. Sorry!

Derpy84 · 27/08/2018 22:08

Sounds like a brand of chicken nuggets but, with that said, I'm a teaching assistant and I've haven't met a Crispin yet so there's that I guess ?

Twolittlebears · 27/08/2018 22:11

I suggested it for my DS and was laughed at by DH

MerryMarigold · 27/08/2018 22:12

Immediately. Viz. Crispin was Tarquin's Dad. He was a right wet weekend.

Thisimmortalcurl · 27/08/2018 22:15

Ultra posh so if you are then fine but if not a life of being taken the mick out off.

ballsdeep · 27/08/2018 22:16

Dark and even
Good old king wensles

MerryMarigold · 27/08/2018 22:17

Actually was Tarquin's Dad called Quentin? I've lost my memory. Anyway I'd lump them all together in affected poshness.

Joeybee · 27/08/2018 22:21

Unfortunately I have bad associations with this name because I went to school with a horrible kid called Crispín.

To me it just sounds horrible - 'Crisp-In' - just sounds harsh and a bit pompous. I suppose you can get Cris as a nickname, which is okay. Also I suppose it's good that it's not popular, there won't be another Crispin in his class. Also I think this name suits different types of people - can see a blonde Crispin, a Brunette Crispin, a nerdy Crispin, a sporty Crispin.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 27/08/2018 22:35

Very posh, a bit wet.

I knew a family of 4 brothers called Crispin, Julian, Lucien and Simon. Even at 6 years old I thought Simon had come off the luckiest.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 27/08/2018 22:45

Well DP is a Crispian. Obviously goes by Cris. State school all the way and not at all posh.

His considered opinion 'fuck no, don't do it to the poor kid' Grin

He spent school as 'rice crispy'.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 28/08/2018 09:37

no Tarquin's dad was not called Crispin, Crispin was one of "the Critics" along with Natasha.
I think Tarquin's dad was called Quentin, but I can check later...:)
(important)

AsleepAllDay · 28/08/2018 09:38

Posh boy

MerryMarigold · 28/08/2018 09:47

Thanks Fourfried. You are right about Crispin.

binkyblinky · 28/08/2018 09:50

Awful name, sorry! The poor boy will be ridiculed !

AlliKaneErikson · 28/08/2018 18:05

A little thin boy with curly blond hair and blue eyes who is a bit pale and also a bit posh ; I swear I must have seen something on TV or read something when I was young to have something so specific in mind?!!

Ilovewillow · 28/08/2018 18:12

I think of my husband, he wanted to call both of our children Crispin it they were boys, thankfully the first was a girl and I managed to dissuade him when our son was born! It does sound a little wet and I fear open to ridicule!

Shadow1234 · 08/09/2018 19:23

Quentin crisp. Would associate it with someone who may
Be quite eccentric or flambouyant!

lostlalaloopsy · 08/09/2018 20:16
