Middle name for Oak

Just had my 20wk scan and confirmed we are having a boy. We had loads of girls names, but no boys names. My DP is Lithuanian, so would like Azuolas which translates into Oak. I really like Oak, but not Azuloas. Name would be Oak, not Oakley.

Can you think of a middle name to go with Oak?

I realise the name Oak is a little unusual and not to most peoples taste. Ideas please?

You've had the misfortune of your post showing up in active threads and having all the parents with the misfortune of top 10 named children taking it out on you.

Nope. Guess again.

Rufus? A nod to Rufus stone..

NotMeNoNo · 14/04/2018 13:02

Dara , Irish version?

stellinaa · 14/04/2018 14:36

Oak Elias.. maybe? Azuolas is a much nicer first name though imo, and Z (Zee) would be a cute nn. Here are some middle name suggestions:
Azuolas Nikolai
Azuolas Mateo
Azuolas Nathaniel
Azuolas Louis (French pronunciation)

Other Lithuanian boys names that I think are gorgeous are Jonas, Mykolas, Andrius, Mathias and Daumantas/Domantas. :)

Oak isn't common but it's definitely a real name, and it's easy to spell/pronounce.

I like Alexander, Edmund, Robert, Christopher, Thomas, Matthew as middle names.

I know an Oak Rowan Grin

kaytee87 · 14/04/2018 15:10

Why don’t you want the Lithuanian name? At least it’s an actual name, unlike Oak.

Bubblysqueak · 14/04/2018 15:16

Would you consider oakly, it's becoming very popular .

JiminyBillyBob · 14/04/2018 15:22

Idoki.

Sycamore
Birch
Horse chestnut?

Spamalotta · 14/04/2018 15:32

I used to know a 'Leaf". The mind boggles really.

Somersetter · 14/04/2018 15:36

There was a Cbeebies programme featuring a (real life) boy called Oak. So it's unusual but not unique.

If you like it, go for it. It has very positive connotations in English and there's a reason for choosing it which links to your son's heritage.

Somersetter · 14/04/2018 15:39

(I'm usually very traditional in my taste in names, but it's not a made-up word or a krayzee spelling. I can't get worked up about it.)

BlancheM · 14/04/2018 15:39

Taybul

Seriously, I like the Lithuanian name.

pinkyredrose · 14/04/2018 15:43

Taybul Grin

Marioki · 14/04/2018 16:26

I think a name starting with a consonant works better otherwise it sounds lie one long run on name and I think a longer name too.

Oak Tobias
Oak Sebastian
Oak Mattias

What happens to a person in their life that makes them think that Raspberry is a fine name for a person?

SoupDragon · 14/04/2018 17:03

there's a reason for choosing it which links to your son's heritage.

But the link is ”I didn’t like the Lithuanian name so I translated it to
English which is far better”. Not exactly positive.

stayathomegardener · 14/04/2018 18:11

How about another jump and use the Latin for oak- Quercus?

TheImprobableGirl · 15/04/2018 02:00

Meh, oaks not THAT unusual- CBeebies has a “my family “ programme with ‘Oak and Bodhi’ so if CBeebies can do it ...

BitOfFun · 15/04/2018 02:28

There are so many wacky names out there now that I wouldn't worry. Either he grows into it and owns it, or he changes it when he's older. If you give him a relatively normal middle name to your taste, you've covered all your bases.

And there’s a thread taking the piss out of people’s names running right now,

WhittlingIhopMonkey · 15/04/2018 11:10

The Irish name Dara means Oak

Oak as in the English word isn't to my taste as a first name but I don't get the ridicule on this thread either

bondstreets · 23/07/2019 21:39

My son is called Oak.

So put that in your pipes and smoke it!

IsobelRae23 · 23/07/2019 23:44

I don’t think anyone cares- it won’t change their minds, they still think it’s a stupid name for a person.

Frith2013 · 24/07/2019 00:04
