Middle name for Oak

Just had my 20wk scan and confirmed we are having a boy. We had loads of girls names, but no boys names. My DP is Lithuanian, so would like Azuolas which translates into Oak. I really like Oak, but not Azuloas. Name would be Oak, not Oakley.

Can you think of a middle name to go with Oak?

I realise the name Oak is a little unusual and not to most peoples taste. Ideas please?

I'm surprised at the bad reception for Oak

It doesn't seem that different that a lot of nature names to me

I know Heather, Holly, Hebe, Rowan, Ash, Willow Hazel, Rose, Ocean, River

I just don't think Oak stands out that much

Oak Aleksander

We know a Polish boy who has a name which is a girl's name in this country (think Caroline or similar) and he's never teased for it. Oak is lovely. I'd put it with a traditional UK name.

MumofBoysx2 · 10/04/2018 20:11

Does your maiden name fit nicely with it? Because it's a short name I would suggest a longer, maybe 3-syllable middle name, like William, it rolls better than say, Oak John

You've had a range of reactions here, from the few that love it, to the downright cruel and derisive. Thing is, if you go ahead and name him this, this is what your son is going to have to deal with for the rest of his life. Maybe it will be character building, but more likely it's really going to get him down. Life's hard enough as it is without saddling the poor boy with a name that isn't a name. It looks like you're reconsidering, please do.

SubtitlesOn · 10/04/2018 21:08

Like AZU or AZUO ?

Batteriesallgone · 10/04/2018 21:16

Just thought of Oak Sebastian. Really like that

Yeaididthat · 10/04/2018 21:18

Coincidence? I think not.

MargotMoon · 10/04/2018 21:29

How about Oaken? That's a 'real' name and you can shorten it to Oak as a nn

Eryri1981 · 10/04/2018 21:35

I like the name Oak, my first choice for my DD was Rowan as I wanted a tree name, but we ended up going with DH choice. DD name is very uncommon so we gave her a more "normal" middle name. So would recommend doing that.

I quite like Oak and don't see it as particularly odd in this day and age.

A Lithuanian teenager I know is called Zygi. I think that's a really cool name!

Oak Loki

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 10/04/2018 22:29

If you have to go with a tree, I do think you'd be better off with Ash or Rowan.

(But I really want to suggest Oak Rikey.)

These comments are so funny.

I know another little boy called Oak.

It's fine OP. You probably wouldn't like the names posters on here gave their child.

Personally, I've rolled my eyes at Oak, because it sounds a bit try hard, (no yours, you have sound reasons) but not as much as I've rolled them at yet another mealy Amelia or orphan Oliver. I always think at least if a child has an unusual name then they'll be remembered even if they turn out to be a dull person. If they're dull and have a name as exciting as a piece of cardboard, they've got no hope.

wizzler · 10/04/2018 22:49

Woke DD up snorting at Oak Harold.

SoupDragon · 10/04/2018 22:51

Oak Arthur Is awful. Oh Karther! I don’t think anything starting with a vowel works.

I don’t like Oak at all though - you’re naming an adult human.

OldHag1 · 10/04/2018 22:57

If you both like it then why not.

My daughter went to nursery with a little girl called Pebbles and both my daughters did self defence with a little girl called Raspberry.

True story... I kid you not.

gingergenius · 10/04/2018 22:57

Lakota?

SomeKnobend · 10/04/2018 22:59

A few people now have suggested William. Please don't. Oak Willy? Just no.
