Names you hate!

First born is due in Dec (gender not known) and dh and I are pondering over names and he's suggested a few now that I absolutely hate - only because I know or knew somebody with that name and they were complete and utter shit heads!

They were every day names, nothing daft like Apple or Tiger Lilly but once associated with a past prize twat!! I go right off it!

Anyone else had this?

The only name I have strong feelings about is Gabriel.

I don't know why, I just don't like the way it sounds.

unicornthong · 09/08/2016 04:37

Aimee. I'm an Amy and that should be the only way to spell it. Grin

Also anything ending in -ayden, Brayden in particular. And Brody. Also surnames like Carter and Hunter.

Can't bear Ethan, Alfie or Archie. Timothy is the wettest name I've ever heard.

My gripes are mainly with masculine names; I'm fucked if I have more than one son!

I hate

Penelope
Genevieve
Vivienne

These are just not pleasant sounds (to me, obvs), and I do not understand the popularity.

unicornthong · 09/08/2016 04:46

Oh and Logan. Reminds me of bogies.

I always picture a Logan to be a disgusting, snotty child with horrible crusty candlesticks coming from his nostril, which he hastily wipes on his jumper sleeve. Confused

Ankleswingers · 09/08/2016 05:10

Callum

SnoopDoggyDogg · 09/08/2016 11:44

unicorn I know a Logan and he is a little shit but to be fair to him his Mother lets him get away with stuff I'd go absolutely ballistic over. I watched him once try to put a stick through the spokes of another child's bike wheel in the hope he would fall off and his Mum watched too and actually laughed at his antics. He's only infant school age. That's not the worse thing he's done either. Don't think he's snotty though so not all bad.

Allinittogether · 09/08/2016 20:44

Boys: I really dislike Reuben, Callum, Ethan, Lewis and Daniel.

Girls: I really dislike Mia/May/Mae/Mya/Maiya, Georgina, Neve (especially spelt like this!), Clover, Karen, Milly / Tilly and most "k" names especially those that should begin with "c" like Konnie. Just why!?

Rant over.

MmmCazals · 09/08/2016 20:51

Milo
Hate it.
I cringe when I see it as a suggested name.

msgrinch · 09/08/2016 21:12

Ive never met a Katie or Kerry or Kelly that isn't a complete disgrace to the word human. Vile creatures.

suit2845321oie · 09/08/2016 21:17

I can't bear Scarlett or Darcy / ie for girls. Hideous and also actively dislike Edith and Imogrn which has to be the wettest name ever.

For boys I hate Zack / Zak / Zac / Zach as literally every boy aged between 5-10 is called his and also dislike Heath / Chase and recently heard of a Grayson (dreadful) and hate Harrison too so essentially surnames for first names.

AmyC86 · 09/08/2016 21:34

Anyone named after TV/films etc

Skylar
Khaleesi
Katniss etc etc

I also hate the name Jessica -she was a school bully & I ended never met a nice Jess/Jessica since.

Leighton - also a school bully.

Stupid double barrelled names
Every man and his dog using may or mae as a middle name

SendARavenToRiverRun · 09/08/2016 22:03

Such diverse tastes! DD 1 has had her name mentioned, only once though lol. Dd2 has a surname type name so it's obviously hated but not mentioned yet.

Kimberly, never met a nice one.
Gloria. Ditto
Hayden/Jayden/Blayden/Kayden. Chavtastic.
I also know a family where every child has a variation of the dads name. The dad is a utter prick and hardly worth emulating.
Brian is wet and insipid
Lucas-mucas

i8sum314 · 09/08/2016 23:18

I love the name Gloria. If I ever get a Havanese I'm going to call it Gloria.

Seriously some people on this thread must be living on a knife edge, they hate the name Danny? or Maeve?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 09/08/2016 23:30

Bingo! Both of my DSes names, and my own, all mentioned. Do I get a prize?

i8sum314 · 09/08/2016 23:32

Same here, and my dad and my brother. Only my mum's name didn't get a mention and I guarantee that she'd happily swap it for ANY name listed on this thread

mumofthemonsters808 · 09/08/2016 23:35

I dislike the popular names, where there are usually four of them in the same class;Lucy, Elle, Lily, Alfie, Harry. I can't even master any enthusiasm when I hear another new baby has been given this type of name.

hollyisalovelyname · 10/08/2016 09:18

i8sum
What is your mother's name?
Do tell, as you say she'd happily swop with any name on the thread.

i8sum314 · 10/08/2016 11:23

I'll PM you.

passingthrough1 · 10/08/2016 11:41

Alfie, Archie ... In fact, I hate most shortened and nicknames as full names.
Then all the hyphenated girls names particularly with Mae, Lily, Lilly, Rose in them.
