That's it really. I've always thought it would be an awesome name and now I'm pregnant and my other half likes it I've been seriously considering it. Thoughts please..?

Is he not the god of death or something?

MardyBra · 08/04/2014 01:03

Please tell me this is a wind up! Hades is a type of hell/underworld.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 08/04/2014 01:03

I like the way it sounds so it's not horrible IMO but I would not use it anymore than I would use Poseidon - sorry.

JustALittleConfused · 08/04/2014 01:04

The god of the underworld, yes. But its not a heaven and hell thing. Everyone goes there when they die. That is the belief anyway x

You would name your child after the God of the Dead?

Well the depths of Hades is how I describe a phal curry.. so yeah the depths of hell.

I probably wouldn't use it as a name but man if you like it.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 08/04/2014 01:06

it suits Ralph Fiennes in Clash of the Titans, just can't see it being suitable for a baby/child/any other human being.

Yes it is.

Haydn?

BirdieWhirlie · 08/04/2014 01:10

Bad idea. I see where you're going with it... but it doesn't work.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 08/04/2014 01:11

Persephone is not actually a bad name though, weirdly enough.

JustALittleConfused · 08/04/2014 01:11

That's settled then, We've found the next dogs name :) Thanks ladies x

Yes

Dovahkiin · 08/04/2014 03:54

Perfect name for a Rottweiler though.

SweetCarolinePomPomPom · 08/04/2014 04:05

Oh dear. No. It really is plumbing the depths, if you'll pardon the pun.

Would you call your child Satan? Hitler? Judas? Cruella?

RoadToTuapeka · 08/04/2014 04:13

It's dreadful. Please don't inflict a new child with it. If you love it so much why not change your own name by deed pole and let the child have a chance with a name that won't in its mockery/scorn/raised eyebrows. You could use Hayden or similar and use 'Hayds' as a nn if you like the sound, without god of the underworld type connotations in the pronunciation or spelling.

Whowouldfardelsbear · 08/04/2014 05:14

How about having it backwards like Naveah? Sedah -could be the male equivalent. Hmm

Sid77 · 08/04/2014 05:34

Yes, it is horrific. Please don't do it.

Procrastinating · 08/04/2014 05:38

Yes.

How about Lucifer?

peggyblackett · 08/04/2014 05:39

Yes

Nataleejah · 08/04/2014 09:11

Wow! I quite liked Hades myself. (... But chose Heath instead)
What about Hadrian?

squoosh · 08/04/2014 14:18

Awwww little Hades is so cute, love his bright red eyes and air of decay.
