I know someone whose daughter and son are called Paris and Troy. Really! Aside from being utter rubbish, I mean, if we are going with mythology Paris is a boy not a girl, and Troy is a place not a person! Its Paris and Hector surely? Or Troy and Mesopotamia?

So can you top that? Go on, I could do with a laugh.

I reserve the right to pull on my judge pants for sibling groups whose names rhyme, all start with the same letter (I'm looking at you Kardassians) and parents who name their DC after themselves.

There's a bit of inverted snobbery going on here though. Someone starts bashing commonly seen as 'poor' names, then people jump in to defend those names. Absolutely fine. But then people start talking about 'felix' and his 'curls'....

why is it not ok to be snobby at names with perhaps working class connotations but its then ok to be snobby about names with upper class connotations? Confused

I am OP and I thought the idea of anonymous internet boards were that we could occasionally break out the judgey pants? Hmm I would never ever say anything to this woman about her kids names, that would be absolutely unacceptable however, in my opinion they are silly.

I did try and warn off the PO with the judgementalness alert in the header. Grin

Felix should have a hair cut, Tarquins should stick to dukes offspring only and how about we just have names,

I went to school with a girl called Candida Hmm - I thought it was pretty at the time and then I discovered what it was associated with.

I really and truly once heard a lady in the park calling: Jade, Amber, Ruby - in a slightly different order might just as well have called them stop, get ready and go. Has tickled me for years.

I actually think jade, Amber, Ruby sounds really cool. I would call them stop wait go as nicknames.
