I think I like old fashioned names - anyone care to share what their grandmothers/great-grandmothers were called.

Mary - both of them!

Grandmothers Beryl and Helen
Great Aunts Molly, Gladys, Gwendoline, Cissy, Emily
Great Grandmothers, Victoria and Nelly (short for Eleanor)
Great, Great Aunts Flora and Minnie

I was very lucky to know all but my 1 great aunt in my life time, and I'm not yet 30 long livers my lot

Mabel (dd1 middle name), Mavis, Elsie, Sophie

Dh's- margaret, Nora,

Joyce and Barbara (step-grandma is June).

Noeline (French, born on christmas eve)

DH's are Lettice and Julia

Doris and Gene. I can't see 'Doris' ever making a comeback (but maybe that's because I've heard it used in a derogatory manner).

My lovely Nanna was called Nell - her real name was Mary Ellen but nobody ever used that.

I love old-fashioned names like Florence etc. but I have heard some lately that I think are taking it a bit too far and for me should just never come back into fashion, like Mabel and Myrtle . Each to their own though!

My gms were Ellen (later changed to Sylvia) & May; dhs were Dorothy (Dot) & Beatrice (Bea)

Audrey and Cynthia - no idea with DH although I suspect one must have been Eleni as I'm reasonably sure DH and his siblings were named after their grandparents.
